Sun Java module for RedHat
Hi.
I googled for this thoroughly but couldn''t find any module that
actually worked.
Is there any good puppet module or manifest for installing Sun JDK?
Thanks.

Java
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to centos and having trouble upgrading java's jdk1.4 to jdk1.5.
I assume I have to get the jdk from jpackage, but I'm having trouble
locating it, let alone finding any instructions on how to upgrade. Much
appreciated if anyone can help. Thanks!

Java headaches
I lost my harddrive, and have had to reinstall. This time, I am being a
bit smarter on imaging, but still got to get things installed...
Installing Freemind. It needs Java JRE.
So after lots of pain, and reading past messages, I got
jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586.rpm from sun and installed it.
Then I tried to follow Jim Perrin's recommendation to install from
jpackage.org the

Deleting packages
When choosing to delete packages, Synaptic will tell the user what other
packages are dependant and therefore have to be added to the delete list
also, and then will automatically add those dependant packages to the
delete list if one chooses to go ahead with the original package
deletion. I did not notice such functionality in YumEx. Does it exist ?
If it does not exist, is it possible to

Suggestion for "how to" section: easy way to install the JDK?
I've read website http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS. I am a total
newbie with CentOS, but currently, with update 21 of the Java 6 JDK and CentOS
5.5, the installing the JDK appears to be simpler:
1. Download the latest *rpm.bin jdk (as of today,jdk-6u21-linux-i586-rpm.bin)
fromhttp://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/widget/jdk6.jsp
2. chmod +x the downloaded file.
3. su

Can dtrace agent of JDK be used in IBM Websphere?(fwd)
------------------forwarded------------------------------------
This is to help my customer to migrate their IBM websphere 6.0.2 to run
on solaris 10 platform.
Customer is eager to use the dtrace agent of JDK
(https://solaris10-dtrace-vm-agents.dev.java.net/ ) to benefit their IBM
websphere server, I am not sure whether we can use this agent in IBM
websphere bundled JDK whose version is JDK

Installing rJava fails on Gentoo (amd64) with Sun JDK - checking JNI data types... error
Installing rJava fails consistently, whether installed via

message :-

what is happening:

Oracle java RPM
Hi Everyone,
Years ago the recommended way to install Sun's java was to install from
the tar.gz file because the RPM they supplied did some bad things
(clobbered other files or something...can't remember the details). Is
this still the case with Oracle's java RPM, or is it now safe to
install?

Tomcat5 with Oracle/Sun jdk on CentOS 5.8
I know this question could be asked on tomcat or possibly other mailing
lists, but I'm hoping I can get some help here instead of joining yet
another list.
I'm running tomcat5 on CentOS 5.8. I'm trying to setup Oracle/Sun java
rather than icedtea. I've installed the latest jdk 1.7 and setup
alternatives on centos for java and javac:
# java -version

[RFR] JDK-8156980: Hotspot build doesn't have -std=gnu++98 gcc option
Hi Martin,
Thanks for your response!
I haven't tested compiling OpenJDK 12-dev with LLVM toolchain, perhaps
the issue had been fixed already, because clang treat invalid argument
'-std=gnu++98' not allowed with 'C' as error. It is better only apply
EXTRA_CFLAGS to C without EXTRA_CXXFLAGS.
Furthermore, I just have interest, did you use clang analyzer, sanitizer

Java Error - 4.1 - JDK 1.3.1_02
Hi
I posted a message some time ago regarding getting JDK 1.3.1_02 running
on CentOS4.1 - I mamaged to get this to run by installing the Oracle
patch from metalink. A user is now approaching me with an error that has
appeared during compilation after going from RedHat7.3 -> CentOS4.1
The error is
error: compiler message file broken:

[RFR] JDK-8156980: Hotspot build doesn't have -std=gnu++98 gcc option
it's difficult to use llvm tools like sanitizers on openjdk sources,
because of the "cheating" - relying on undefined behavior, and the JIT.

Hi,
since I, just hours ago, followed
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS (Sun's JDK) I thought I'd
confirm and update the "A less simple approach" with information that's
a bit newer than jdk 1.4.

Furthermore, I'd like to ask you if anyone know what was meant by the
comment on the wiki:

CentOS 5.4 64-bit: Java web browser plugin for 64-bit FireFox?
Does there exist *anywhere* a Java web browser plugin for 64-bit
FireFox? The SUN 1.6<mumble> JDK (jdk-6u18-linux-amd64.rpm) does NOT
include the Java web browser plugin library.
java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.2.b09.el5.x86_64.rpm does not have one
either. Should I install the *32-bit* SUN 1.6<mumble> JDK and use the
32-64 bit wrapper? I've searched the web and read the wiki

Java RE
Hello.
Package Manager reports (with a green checkmark) that I have java-1.6.0
installed on my machine (running Cent 5.3), but it seems to not be
running. I used http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml and got
"Something is wrong. Java is not working."
Perhaps I'm confused on which program I need to use java-coded apps. PM
lists this app as "OpenJDK Runtime

Yum update erased jdk, jre, and fuse-davfs2
I just did a yum update. It pulled in a number of updates including the
latest firefox and davfs2.i386.
Then I watch the following show up during the cleanup phase of yum
(/var/log/messages):

Mar 28 15:42:25 nc2400 Erased: jre
Mar 28 15:42:31 nc2400 Erased: fuse-davfs2
Are the first jsut removal of the alternatives? How do I tell and how
do I find that
