Changing color of points in violin plot
Hello,
I am trying to graph a violin plot like the example in
panel.violin(lattice) with the singer data - see below
Does anyone know how to change the color of the boxplot on the graph
from blue to green? I tried a number of changes, but to no avail.
Thanks for your help,
John

Colour makes my life; but not my bwplot (panel.violin)
Using Trellis, am successfully setting up a number of panels (25) in which I
have two box and violin plots.
I would like to colour - one plot as RED and the other as BLUE (in each
panel). I can do that with the box plots, but the violin density areas just
take on one colour.
My basic call is as follows:
bwplot(rmsd ~ file | code,
data=spread_data.filtered,
panel = function(...,

how to suppress whiskers in a bwplot?
dear R-help,
i have looked carefully through the R-help archives for information on how
to suppress whiskers in a bwplot. someone asked this question a while
ago, but the answer he received is not available in the archives.
but i did manage to get my hands on a panel function (called
"my.panel") that is supposed to do this (the function is reproduced at the
end of the email, below).

Problem with bwplot
Try factor(vec2) in your bwplot() call.

Hi,
I'm ploting some box-and-whisker plots with bwplot but I'm not getting
any box-and-whiskers ... just dots.

changing parameters of the box and whisker plot
Hello:
I am plotting some data using the box and whisker plot. However, I only want to plot the median, max and min, as I only have these values and not the quartile values. It seems R arbitrarily constructs the box margins to be halfway between the median and the max/min. How do I make the box and whisker plots without the box values?
Thanks,
Michael

bwplot change whiskers position to percentile 5 and P95
Dear R-community,
Using bwplot, how can I put the whiskers at percentile 5 and percentile 95,
in place of the default position coef=1.5??
Using panel=panel.bwstrip, whiskerpos=0.05, from the package agsemisc gives
satisfaction, but changes the appearance of my boxplot and works with an old
version of R, what I don’t want, and I didn’t find the option in
box.umbrella parameters
Many thanks

Weighted box or violin plots in Lattice?
Is it possible to create weighted boxplots or violin plots in lattice?
It seems that you can specify weights for panel.histogram() and
panel.densityplot(), but not for panel.bwplot or panel.violin().
Please let me know if I've missed something in the package documentation.
Thanks!

Order labels in qplot() - ggplot2 {help}
Hello,
I want to arrage the label according to my preference eg.. (va, vp, a, b,
c) but don't know how to supress default ordering. Any
suggestions?
Please try the code below:
n <- c("va", "vp", "a", "b", "c")
p <- c(2, 2,1, 3,5)
pm<- c(3,4,2,5,4)
pn <- c(1,1,1,2,3)
x<-data.frame(cbind(n,p,pm,pn))
library(ggplot2)

Vioplot / list help
Hi,
I have some data (lots of year,distance pairs), which I can
straightforwardly boxplot:
dists <- read.table("movedists.dat")
with(dists,plot(as.factor(V1),V2))
If I want to plot these data as violin plots using vioplot, this
approach doesn't work:
> with(dists,vioplot(as.factor(V1),V2))
Error in Summary.factor(c(1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, :

ltext - adding text to each panel from a matrix
Hi all (really probably just Deepayan):
In the plot below I want to add text on either side of each violin plot that
indicates the number of observations that are either positive or negative.
I'm trying to do this with ltext() and I've also monkeyed about with
panel.text(). The code below is generally what I want but my calls to
ltext() are wrong and I'm not sure how to fix them.

bwplot stats question
Hi List,
Just wondering where the documentation exists for the statistics which
makeup the bwplot.
I'm guessing that if R is like similar products that the graph is
constructed as
The median is the filled circle. The box surrounding the filled circle
depicts the 25th and 75th quartile. The range of values is given by the
dotted lines (?whiskers?) outside of each box, and possible

add horizontal reference lines in lattice bwplot
I'm plotting a lattice bwplot from a data.frame and would like to add some horizontal lines indicating some reference values (preferably with text annotation) as well as a grid of regular log tics. The following illustrates the plot:

require("lattice")
p = bwplot(exp(len) ~ supp, ToothGrowth,
panel = function(..., box.ratio) {

why are my multiple box & whisker plots so small?
Hi all,
I'm sure this is reallly basic, but I just can get it to work. I want to
plot six box & whisker plots together to make one figure so that they
appear one below the next.
I can do this using >par(mfrow=c(6,1)), but each box&whisker plots end up
vertically compressed to the point where I can't see the actual bars, and
there is a large amount of white space between each

box and whisker (PR#13821)
In a Box and Whisker plot, I thought that when there are outliers both abov=
e and below the whiskers, then the whiskers should both be the same length =
(plus or minus 1.5 times the inter-quartile range).
If you look at the plot for SilwoodWeather on p.155 of The R Book you will =

How do I change plot colors in bwplot
Hello,
I'm using bwplot to make a few plots. The plots are exactly what I
need, but are coming out with a grey background and turquoise boxes and
whiskers. I cannot figure out how to just get black and white to be
the default. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Removing lower whisker in boxplot to see the effects of the high values
Good Afternoon-
I was wanting to alter the boxplot to remove the lower whisker, both the
whisker line and staple just on the lower end. Is there a way to do this?
As my code is currently:
boxplot(log_loads~ind,data=nfmaum, horizontal=TRUE, notch=T, outline=FALSE,
whisker=0, main="Maumee River Near Future Climate Scenarios", ylab="Log
Load",xlab="Climate Scenarios")

Range plots (lattice or base?)
I am looking to create what I would call a "simple variation" on the
boxplot. What I would like to do is to be able to plot the upper and
lower confidence limits as the "box" and the 10th and 90th percentile as
the whiskers. What I have done is write the code to create a dataframe,
the columns of which are the mean, sd, 10th percentile, 90th percentile,
lower confidence limit

I would like to make the whisker look shorter than the box width.
Please kindly advise how to modify the code.

Lattice::bwplot unexpected behaviour when using vector of colors
Hi,
I'm trying to produce colored boxplots using lattice::bwplot function. I need to plot each boxplot in the panel with a specific color. Naturally I used a vector of colors and expected to see colored boxplots. Although the boxplots were colored, the color of whiskers and the boxes do not match. Here is an example:
d = data.frame(y = rnorm(100), x=1:4)
