ggplot2 dot chart-start at zero
I am trying to create a simple dot-plot in ggplot2 with a solid line from the y-axis to the dot, something I first saw in Cleveland's 1984 book What I would like is to have the graph start at zero on the x-axis but leave some space on the right side of the plot area. I assumed that I should be able to do this with expand() in scale_x_continuous() but either I'm wrong or just don't

How to plot a table of numbers as an image using ggplot2?
Hi all, I'd want to plot a table of numbers such that the values are represented by gray level. Is there an easy way to do that using ggplot2? Thanks, Arnaud [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

grey colored lines and overwriting labels i qqplot2
I created this graph in ggplot and added ablines to the different facets by specifying with subset commands. As you might see, there are still a few issues. 1.) I would like to have the diamonds in a grey scale instead of colors. I accomplished this (see graph 2) until I overwrote the label title for the treatments and the colors came back (graph 1). I used these two commands: p=ggplot(data =

ggplot2 geom_abline slope not working?
I am learning ggplot2, and need your help. When I try > p <- ggplot(mtcars, aes(x = wt, y=mpg)) + geom_point() > p + geom_abline(slope=5) (from http://had.co.nz/ggplot2/geom_abline.html) the slope of the abline does not change, but this works: > p + geom_abline(intercept=20) In order to have slope work, I have to use > p + geom_abline(aes(slope=5)) Is it a bug, or is there

ggplot2: problem with geom_errorbar and geom_abline
Hi all, I have run into what appears to be a bug in ggplot2; however, I am new to the ggplot syntax, so I might be missing a key element. The main issue is that I cannot get geom_abline to plot when colour is used to identify "group" in the main plot. When I remove colour, geom_abline works but the error bars have an undesirable line drawn between the left edges of the caps. Does

geom_abline does not seem to respect groups in facet_grid [ggplot2]
Just trying to understand how geom_abline works with facets in ggplot. By way of example, I have a dataset of student test scores. These are in a data table dt with 4 columns: student: unique student ID cohort: grouping factor for students (A, B, . H) subject: subject of the test (English, Math, Science) score: the test score for that student in that subject The goal is to compare

changing graphs in qqplot2
This is what I have now so far. p=ggplot(data = test, aes(x = YEAR, y = TOTAL, colour = TREATMENT)) + geom_point() + geom_smooth(method = "lm", se=FALSE) + facet_wrap(~COUNTRY) > p +scale_x_continuous(limits=c(1,4)) http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/file/n3626510/graph.gif I would also like to: 1.) change the headline for the faced wraps ?high? and ?low?. Is there any other way of

ggplot2: line plot with gaps in time axis
Hello, I'm trying to plot data that has gaps in the timeline because my data only has the business day in it. When I do a line plot I get the data and then a blank area where a line goes the tail of the last data point to the head of the next data point. Is there a way I can do a line plot where the gaps are not plotted? Thanks in advance, Brian > names(utildf) [1]

remove substring from each string vector component
Hi all, I have a string vector like that: x=c("1\t\t", "2", "3\t\t\t") I need to remove all the occurrences of "\t", in order to obtain: x = "1" "2" "3" I'm trying to use the function substring2, and it works for each component, for example: substring2(x[1], "\t") ="" gives x = "1"

break error bars in ggplot2
Hello, i use ggplot to plot some measures including CIs as horizontal errorbars. I get an error when the scale limits are narrower than the boundaries of the error bar and hence the CIs are not plotted. library(ggplot2) df <- data.frame(resp=c(1,2), k=c(1,2), se=c(1,2)) ggplot(df, aes(resp,y=k)) + geom_point() + geom_errorbarh(aes(xmax = resp + se, xmin = resp - se)) +

Adding vertical line to histogram and qplot "stacked" plot
R-users it appears I am leaning on your knowledge once again.  Is there any way to add a vertical line to a histogram and qplot "stacked" plot?  Here is my current attempt:   "qplot" approach attempt: qplot(Run, data = data_dataframe, breaks = breaks, fill = Temperature, main = short_title) + scale_x_continuous("Data") + scale_y_continuous("Freq")

problem with FUN in Hmisc::summarize
Hi all, I'd like to use the Hmisc::summarize function, but it uses a function (FUN) of a single vector argument to create the statistical summaries. Consider an easy case: I'd like to compute the correlation between two variables in my dataframe, grouped according to other variables in the same dataframe. For exemple, consider the following dataframe D: V1 V2 V3 A 1 -1 A 1

regular expression
Hi, I need to select a substring from the filename of a file in a list. I can find all the filenames in a directory by list.files(fn_dir) Each filename has the format (the following is an example because field lengths are variable) XXX184_YYY_ZZZ.dat XXX: 2 or 3 alphabetic characters 184: 3 numeric characters ... I'd like to select the substring XXX which has variable length (from each

I am ploting a bar graph but I can't adjust my x axis scale I use this code: i <- qplot(ForkLength,Number,data=FL,geom="bar") i + geom_bar(colour="blue",fill="grey65") # too crowded FL_dat <- ggplot(FL,aes(x=ForkLength,y=Number)) + geom_bar(colour="green",fill="grey65") FL_dat +

ggplot2 - facetting
Dear All, After having overcome the issue of legends (thanks, Thierry, once more), I am trying to use facetting, but here also I can not find how to do this. I do not want to use qplot, but rather the more flexible options. However, it seems I am doing still something pretty stupid, because I always get an error, even if it seems I am doing everything like the examples. My code is below.

ggplot2
Cordial saludo.

ggplot2 to create a "square" plot
Dear all, I am using ggplot with geom_tile to print as an image a matrix  I have. My matrix is a squared one of 512*512 cells.  The code that does that is written below > print(v + geom_tile(aes(fill=dB))+ opts(axis.text.x=theme_text(size=20),axis.text.y=theme_text(size=20), axis.title.x=theme_text(size=25) , axis.title.y=theme_text(size=25), legend.title=theme_text(size=25,hjust=-0.4) ,

bar plot with non-zero starting level
Hi, I want to plot grouped bars to compare 95% confidence interval estimates from two models. Each bar represents a 95% confidence interval estimate of a coefficient from one of the two models. Each group represents confidence interval estimates of the same coefficient from the two models. I think such a bar plot will nicely present whether 95% confidence interval estimates of the same
