Labeling barplot bars by multiple factors
I want to plot quantitative data as a function of three two-level factors. How do I group the bars on a barplot by level through labeling and spacing? Here <http://www.thomaslevine.org/sample_multiple-factor_barplot.png>'s what I'm thinking of. Also, I'm pretty sure that I want a barplot, but there may be something better. How to import timestamps from emails into R
I am analysing occurrences of a phenomenon by time, and each of these timestamps taken from email headers represents one occurrence. (The last number is the time zone.) I can easily change the format. installing on HP DV5000 64 bit
Has anyone managed to install CentOS 4.2 on an HP dv5000 64 bit laptop? I boot from the install cd, and all of the options I have tried ( return, linux text, linux noprobe, linux lowres ) have had the same result: some text scrolls by really fast ( looks like the start of the install), then the screen goes blank with no activity of any kind. The processor is the turion 64, and it has ATI video.

Bug 16719: kruskal.test documentation for formula
I submit a couple options for addressing bug 16719: kruskal.test documentation for formula. https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=16719 disallow-character.diff changes the documentation and error message to indicate that factors are accepted. allow-character.diff changes the kruskal.test functions to convert character vectors to factors; documentation is updated accordingly. How to get legend outside of plot?
I am creating a CDF plot function more user-friendly than any default r function. Depending upon the bimodality of the data (it is often bimodal), or any other strange data trends, the points can end up gathering in just about any corner of the plot. So, when I add a legend, whether I choose to add it in the bottom right, top left, or wherever, it will sometimes end up putting the legend right

GC for defsym'd symbols in LLD
LLD treats any symbol referenced from a linker script as a GC root, which makes sense. Unfortunately, it also processes --defsym as a linker script fragment internally, so all target symbols of a --defsym also get treated as GC roots (i.e., if you have something like --defsym SRC=TGT, TGT will become a GC root). I believe this to be unnecessary for defsym specifically, since you're just

ppinit
Probably a simple question, but I can't find the answer to it ... In the 'ppinit' code it describes how it takes a 'file in standard format' and creates a point process object with it. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this 'standard format' is? The example given doesn't allow me to view the '.dat' file that apparently is in this format. Thanks, Suzie

Re: SpanDSP TXFax and multipage faxes problems
Hi ! Does anyone managed to send multipage faxes (in single TIFF file) with app_txfax from spandsp package (i'm using 0.0.2pre18, libtiff 3.7.1)? If so, I'm interested in format of TIFF file that has been sent sent succesfully (tiffinfo <fax-filename>). I'm having problems with app_txfax, sending first page successfuly 99 % of the time, but never managed to send second or

Long model formulae
What is a good way to enter a very long model formula. For example: y ~ Input.2 + Input.3 + ... + Input.1000 (assuming the corresponding dataframe has many other columns). Is there a way to convert a character string to a formula? Are there command line expansions in R besides the simple '.'? Thanks. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

GC for defsym'd symbols in LLD
I have made some further investigation. My conclusion is that GNU ld does not do better than lld. Making the --defsym behavior ideal is difficult in the current framework. GNU ld has some unintended behaviors. ld.bfd a.o --defsym 'd=foo' --gc-sections -o a => GNU ld retains .text_foo ld.bfd a.o --defsym 'd=foo+3' --gc-sections -o a => GNU ld drops .text_foo ld.bfd a.o
