ggplot2 - how to change location / position of wind rose axis labels?
Dear R users,
First just want to say thank you to all for developing such a wonderful
software and packages.
I need to produce a wind rose plot. Tried with packages circular and plotrix
and couldn't quite get what I want. Moved to package ggplot2 and it's going
great. However stuck in how to move axis labels.
I am using the wind rose from the help to learn how to do what I need (code

[ggplot2] Wind rose orientation
Aloha all,
I love using ggplot. It took a while to get used to the grammar of
graphics, but it is starting to get easy now that I am thinking in a
more structured way.
A question. I'm making a wind rose that I'd like to be oriented with
due north straight up. I've discovered that the orientation is
sensitive to how north is represented. When north is represented as

Nightingale’s Rose chart-any suggestion?
Hello, Everyone.
Does anyone know how to create a Nightingale’s Rose chart by using R?
Hopefully, the graph could be displayed like this:

Thanks a lot.
Kind regards,

rose.diag in CircStats package
Dear R community,
I tried to post a query about the use of the rose.diag function from the CircStats package to the r-help forum a few days ago. It gave all appearances of having been successful. It would have been my first post; I am correctly recieving all the R-help emails, but but the message has not appeared anywhere on the forum. Am I held up by the moderator somewhere? any help would be

Unusual graph- modified wind rose perhaps?
In a OpenOffice.org forum someone was asking if the spreadsheet could graph this http://www.elmundo.es/elmundosalud/documentos/2011/06/leche.html
I didn't think it could. :)
I don't think I've ever seen exactly this layout. Does anyone know if there is anything in R that does a graph like this or that can be adapted to do it.
Unfortunately my Spanish is non-existent so I am not

Rose Diagrams
Hi,
Is it possible to create Rose Diagrams of wind data (speed & direction) with

calculating mean direction (CircStats)
Hi,
I've currently to work with some circular data. Unfortunately I'm not very
familiar with circular statistics and would really appreciate if I could get
some help concerning the CircStats package this way.
My data lies in the range 0 to 2*pi, and is transformed to radians (as
expected by the CircStats methods). Calculating the mean direction
(circ.mean) results for some datasets in a

Existence of non-vectorised functions
Dear R-Group:
Recently, I ran into a problem. I was using a function called "I.1",
which evaluates the first-order modified Bessel function of the first
kind, in the package "CircStats". This function is not vectorized,
since it uses a couple of "if" conditions. However, when I called this
function with a vector argument, I got no error/warning messages in

masking functions
Dear all
I was writing some code that needed functions from packages 'MASS' and
'CircStats', and I received a warning saying that the function
'eqscplot' in one of the packages was masked by another 'eqscplot' from
the other package (in fact 'eqscplot' from 'CircStats' seems a short
version of 'eqscplot' from 'MASS'). This masking of

A bug in circ.plot of CircStats package
Hi,
i found a bug in circ.plot of CircStats package, namely that the plot ingore
the datasets with value = 0. it's simple to fix it, but i cannot seem to
figure out where to submit the fix. is there a official procedure of
submitting bug report/patch to the contributed packages?

Polishing my geom_bar for publication
Dear list,
I am new with ggplot2 and I have spend quiet some time putting together the following code to create the attached plot. However there's still a few things that I'm having trouble with!
I would be grateful if someone can tell me how to fix (1) the colour of my bars into grey scales (2) removing the y-axis (species name) on the right figure to avoid duplication, and (3) fix the

Changing X axis of ggplot
Thanks to Joshua Wiley for turning me on to ggplot2.
I am making a plot using this:
p <- ggplot(dallas, aes(x = offense_hour)) + geom_bar() + coord_polar()
Dallas is a data frame, and offense_hour is a column with chron
objects from the chron library. In this case, the chron object was
created with the times function. It is only a time (H:M:S) with no
date attached.
The plot shows up fine,

Path Diagram
Hi All,
Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else, but I have been
searching for an answer all day and not been able to find one.
I am trying to plot a path diagram for a CFA I have run, I have installed
Rgraphviz and run the following:
pathDiagram(cfa, min.rank='item1, item2, item3, item4, item5, item6,
item7, item8, item9, item10, item11, item12', max.rank='SMP,

Range of circular data
I want to get the minimum arc (in degrees) needed to include a set of
compass directions. I would like to use the range.circular() function
of the package circular, because that package understands a compass-type
of angle convention, but it gives results I don't understand. Howver, I
can get the correct answer in the example below, 90 degrees, using the
CircStats package. How can I make the

help for linear-circular correlation
Hi R-profs,
Maybe my question is a little off topic. Could any one tell me how to
calculate a linear-circular correlation coefficient and its p-values?
I had a quick look at circular and CircStats packages and did not find
the related function.
Thanks for any kindly help.

ggplot qplot bar removing bars when truncating scale
I'm having problems with this example, it is posted with reproduceable code
below, both with the normal 0-6 scale and the desired 3-6 scale (with bars
removed). How can I get the graph to have the desired 3-6 scale without
removing the bars. Thanks!

opinions please: text editors and reporting/Sweave?
dear all -
I currently use Tinn-R as my text editor to work with code that I submit to R, with some output dumped to text files, some images dumped to pdf. (system: Windows 2K and XP, R 2.4.1 and R 2.5). We are using R for overnight runs to create large output data files for GIS, but then I need simple output reports for analysis results for each separate data set. Thus, I create many reports of
