GLM Repeated measures test of assumptions: e.g. test for sphericity e.g. Bartletts and Levenes homogenous variances
Hello and thanks in advance
I am running a glm in R the code is as follows with residual diagnostic code
below
model4<-glm(Biomass~(Treatment+Time+Site)^2, data=bobB,
family=quasi(link="log", variance="mu"))
par(mfrow=c(2,2))
plot(model2)

repeated measures with missing data
Dear R help group, I am teaching myself linear mixed models with missing data since I would like to analyze a stats design with these kind of models. The textbook example is for the procedure "proc MIXED" in SAS, but I would like to know if there is an equivalent in R. This example only includes two time-measurements across subjects (a t-test "with missing values"), but I

interaction post hoc/ lme repeated measures
Hi Everyone,
I’m trying to figure out how to get R to analyze this experiment properly. I have a series of subjects each with two legs. Within each leg there are two bones that I am interested in. There are also two treatments that I am interested in. That results in four different combinations of treatments. Obviously, since the subjects only have two legs, they can’t receive each

Identifying records with the correct number of repeated measures
Dear list,
I have a dataset where we sampled multiple individuals either 1 or 9
times. Our measurement variable is 'Delta13C' (see below sample
dataset). I cannot figure out how to efficiently use a vector command
(preferably) or a loop to create a new vector of the names of the
individuals sampled 9 times. Note that the 'FeatherPosition' variable
will only be "P1" for

multcomp and lme
I suppose that multcomp in R and multicomp in S-Plus are related and it
appears that it is possible to use multicomp with lme in S-Plus given the

calculating correlation coefficients on repeated measures
Dear list,
I have 9 repeated measures (measurement variable == 'Delta13C') for
individuals (ID variable == 'Individual_ID'. Each repeated measure is
"indexed" (right term?) by the variable 'FeatherPosition' and given as
c('P1', 'P2', 'P3', 'P4', 'P5', 'P6', 'P7', 'P8', 'P9'). I would like

contrasts for lmer model
hello,
i found it most convenient to use package contrast for planned comparisons
on mixed models.
for instance i have a model with 2 fixed factors, one with 4 levels (stage)
and one with 2 levels (gap) and a nested random factor (site) and i tested
gap within level A of factor stage:
library(contrast)
library(nlme)
m1<-lme(rich ~ stage*gap, random=~1|site,data=richness)
contrast(m1,

Hi,
Although I set check.names to FALSE in read.table, the duplicate names get modified. What should be done in this case?

bootstrapping quantile regression
HI everyone,
I try to get some bootstrap CIs for coefficients obtained by quantile
regression. I have influencial values and thus switched to quantreg..
The data is clustered and within clusters the variance of my DV = 0..
Is this sensible for the below data? And what about the warnings?
Thanks in advance for any guidance,
Kay

Hello Jeremy,
I think you missed a "/" in:

detecting finite mixtures
This question teeters on the brink of general statistics rather than an
R-specific issue, but I'm hoping it boils down to how I coded V&R's EM
algorithm for finite mixture modeling and not something worse (i.e. that
my plan is impossible).
Briefly, I'm trying to simulate an experiment where the hypothesis
concerns bimodal vs. unimodal distributions, in order to see what

How to use lmer function and multicomp package?
Dear list members,
First of all thank you for your helpful advices.
After your answeres to my firt mail I studied a lot (R-News n?5) and I
tried to perform my analysis:
First, to fit a GLM with a nested design I decided to use the function
"lmer" in package "lme4"
as suggested by Spencer Graves and Filippo Piro.
I remember to you that my data were:

[Fwd: [Fwd: Re: Re: bt878 based dvr card vs. pci pass-thru]]
Hi Lists,
sorry for reposting this, but since no response has arrived so far and
my time on this project is passing by I need to make a conclusion. Do I
better use my DVR cards in dom0 or moving it to a separate physical
machine rather than using them in a domU?
Could someone shed light on why it is trickier to pass-thru one of these
cards than any other pci devices? Do they try to read-write

multicomp functions that in S but not in R
I am using R for a class which uses S.
Often I can not find functions that in S but
not in R, example, multicomp().
What is your advise.
Thanks.

multicomp
Dear R people,
I have heard rumors of a function called (I believe) multicomp in S+ for
doing multiple comparisons for linear models. It doesn't seem to be in the
version of R I am using, 0.90.0. Is there something equivalent to this in
R, or does it simply not exist?
I see there is are more recent versions of R. For my platform, SuSE Linux,
the most recent rpm available appears to be

[OT] ssh and security DVR
Does anyone have any "security appliance" DVR, and can you a) telnet or b)
ssh into it?
Also, I have read that on a lot of the low-end ones, like Swann, port 9000
is completely open, but it's not clear to me from the hack post
<http://console-cowboys.blogspot.com/2013/01/swann-song-dvr-insecurity.html>
whether I could ssh in there, or rsync from a server through that port.
