Dual Monitors
I have a PC with an Nvidia Quadro Card in it and it is running CentOS
4.0(all current). I want to set up dual monitors but when I go into
the display
gui to set it up, X reloads and an error comes up and says it cant load X
using this config.
This is the only video card in the system and I am trying to hook up two
identical ViewSonic VG800 monitors. Single monitor works fine but when try

Problems with widescreen (16:9) under CentOS 5 w/ xorg-x11-drv-i810-1.6.5-9.40.el5
I am the tech guy for a local library. We have a network containing
several diskless workstations. The hardware are these P4 boxes:

These little machines have integrated Intel video chips on their

KDE screensaver on Centos 4.1
The KDE screen savers will only blank out the screen
though most of them test ok when you hit the test
button in the Control Center.
The Gnome screen savers work ok.
My system has a Radeon 9200SE video card and I
have a ViewSonic A70f monitor.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Just Stuck
OK, I did the deal and I am in the process of upgrading/migrating from
CentOS 5.8 x86_64 to CentOS 6.2 x86_64. But, I'm stuck with a gnome GUI
that only sees 1024x768. Under CentOS 5.8 it saw 1920x1080 (without much
work from me). The command I was used to , system-config-display, is gone
and I've read that xrandr is the replacement. I can't find a usage

Widescreen monitor won't configure to a wide screen
I just put a 1680x1050 LCD monitor on my home system, and I went into
system-config-display to configure it as such, and it just won't take.
I had to tweak some of the settings by hand, but when I log out, I get
the wide screen for both the Nvidia driver splash screen and the login
screen.
But, when I log in, It jumps back to 1280x1024 and refuses to run in
wide screen mode.

agp video card direction
greetings
i am thinking of purchasing a 256 meg or larger AGP video card
my current card is a 128 meg nvidia geforce fx 5200 and i have a viewsonic
vp201s lcd monitor
are their larger memory AGP cards worth buying? i have no idea
it will be for serious CentOS and Win XP integration and testing and
eventually production issues...
XP is a necessary support issue in these circumstances

I verified with my vendor that indeed we are using an ATI ES1000 Video

Apache 2.2 under CentOS?
We've been going through some growing pains fumbling through porting
some custom
C modules that used to live under apache 1.3 into the 2.0 spec, even
though none of us
really considers ourselves a 'C developer'. We've basically got them
all working now
under the 2.0 API, and the question was posed about whether or not we
should consider
attempting to upgrade everything to run

Dual Heads?
I decided to blow out the FC2 installation I inherited on my workstation
when I started here and installed CentOS-4.4-i386. Server side stuff I
pretty
much have down cold, but getting two heads on two seperate video cards
doesn't seem to work for me. I'm using the built in Intel 865/810 card as
primary, and an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI card as secondary.
Initially, my system bios on this

internet wireless network requirements
I currently am using CentOS 4.4 desktop computer. What would I need to recieve an internet signal from a wireless router that is connected to an Apple computer that is located upstairs? I am in the basement less than 150 feet from the Apple computer. I do not have wireless card in the CentOS desktop computer and am looking for a card to install to accomplish this.

Problem with widescreen display
I have a dual boot CentOS 5.2 / FC4 machine, and recently I have bought a new
widescreen tft monitor. I used to use a plain 4:3 crt, and after plugging the
16:9 tft naturally X needed reconfiguring. This was easy in FC4, and seemed
as easy in CentOS, but with a wrong result.
Basically, what I did was to run system-config-display to reconfigure for the
new monitor and resolution. All goes

CentOS 4.4 Strange hang on a poweredge 2900.
I have a brand new poweredge 2900 with 10 SAS drives configured in two
arrays
via the built-in PERC 5 raid controller as:
raid 1: 2x73GB
raid 10: 8x300GB
It's got 4GB of ram, and it's intended to be an NFS filestore.
For some strange reason, logging in with ssh works great, it returns a
prompt, all seems well.
I go to run a simple command like 'top' or 'yum -y install

centos driver disk?
the recent discussion of support for Promise SATA drives reminded me
that a while back i remember reading about a project to assemble a
driver disk to provide wider hardware support than just stock
CentOS. how's that coming along? i don't see anything in the wiki
about it...
as i have a vested interest in this project (since i'm still relying
on old MegaRAID controllers),

xeon quad core?
Can anyone share their experience with installing RHEL / Centos
(latest production release) on the Dell 2950 (or 2900) with the
quad-core e5310 processor? Does anyone know what chipset Dell is
using on this box?
I've got one on the way, and I'm hoping to use centos as the 'host' OS
for several virtual machines (some of them Windows pigs), running
vmware server.

system-config-display problem
I bought a Viewsonic VG730m monitor, analogue and digital. With a digital
cable connected the screen keeps blanking for a second or so.
system-config-display shows it configured as a CRT monitor, and refuses to
accept that it is an LCD monitor.
I've tried manually editing xorg.conf, putting in the manufacturer's values
for horizontal and vertical refresh, but the problem remains.
