community finding in a graph and heatplot
Hi everyone,
I am using the fastgreedy.community function to get the $merges matrix and the $modularity vector. This serves my purpose of testing modularity of my graph. But I am "greedy" to plot the heat map and dendrrogram based on the $merges dendogram matrix. I know that heatplot does the graphics part but I am not sure if the dendogram generated by the heatplot will match the one

[BioC] problem loading affycoretools (more details)
Hi again,
I have been playing around with the order of loading packages, and as far
as I can tell, there's nothing specific with affycoretools that's causing
my Rgui to crash (i.e., shuts down and the Microsoft 'please send error
report' box pops up). Instead, it has something to do with the order & type
of packages that are loaded that add items to the menu bar by

SAS, SPSS Product Comparison Table
Hi All,
My paper "R for SAS and SPSS Users" received a bit more of a reaction
than I expected. I posted the link
(http://oit.utk.edu/scc/RforSAS&SPSSusers.pdf) about 12 days ago on
R-help and the equivalent SAS and SPSS lists. Since then people have
downloaded it 5,503 times and I've gotten lots of questions along the
lines of, "Surely R can't do for free what [fill in

problem with help.start and ?somefunction
Hi all,
I am going to be teaching a workshop next week using R and Bioconductor in one of our university's computer labs. They have recently installed R 2.4.1 for me, and I'm checking all my scripts. I just noticed that using the ?somefunction call to access the documentation for that function is not working. On my own PC, the ? call output changed between R 2.3 and 2.4; before it would

setting x-y axis at origin
Hello -
I'm just getting into 'R' and am having trouble setting up the x-y axis
to share (0,0). In the example posted here:
http://geocities.com/chris_ciotti/Images/part1.pdf, each axis has a 0
which I do not want.
Any help on getting a graph starting at (0,0) would be greatly
appreciated.

Ridge regression and mixed models
Dear R users,
An equivalence between linear mixed model formulation and penalized regression
models (including the ridge regression and penalized regression splines) has
proven to be very useful in many aspects. Examples include the use of the lme()
function in the library(nlme) to fit smooth models including the estimation of a
smoothing parameter using REML. My question concerns the use of

Two APC900 UPS on the same usbbus1
Hi!
On my FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE-p7 server I was unable to retrieve the
correct information from my two UPS. Every time only the first UPS will
returned when I entering "upsc apc900" or "upsc apc901". I don't know
why (Bug or configuration issue on my side?!). I have downloaded the
latest source code and with my "patch" I was able to get the right

PATCH 0/10: Merge PV framebuffer & console into QEMU
The following series of 10 patches is a merge of the xenfb and xenconsoled
functionality into the qemu-dm code. The general approach taken is to have
qemu-dm provide two machine types - one for xen paravirt, the other for
fullyvirt. For compatability the later is the default. The goals overall
are to kill LibVNCServer, remove alot of code duplication and/or parallel
impls of the same concepts, and
