grImport symbols
Dear list, I have two questions regarding grid.symbols() in the grImport package. This package allows you to import a vector graphic in R, and grid.symbols() can be used to plot the resulting glyph at arbitrary locations in a grid viewport. I have tried the code in the grImport vignette, which is most interesting, however I am stuck with two problems: 1- Is there a possibility to create a

PLotting R graphics/symbols without user x-y scaling
Is it possible to add lines or other user defined graphics to a plot in R that does not depend on the user scale for the plot? For example I have a plot plot(x,y) and I want to add some graphic that is scaled in inches or cm but I do not want the graphic to change when the x-y scales are changed - like a thermometer, scale bar or other symbol - How does one do this? I want to build my own

Add png image outside plot borders
I am trying to add a copyright disclaimer outside the plot borders of some images I have created. I can use mtext() to add the written portion, but I would like to have the Creative Commons license image (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cc.logo.circle.svg) before the text. I've found that I can plot a .png image inside the plot boundaries using rasterImage() but I can't figure out how to

mac ghostscript help
Hello R community, I am hoping to use a new package that I just installed called "grImport" to import ps images into R for further manipulation using either base graphics or grid. I downloaded the most recent version of Ghostscript from http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/ that I could find (v.8.56) for Mac OSX. However, I am apparently quite ignorant about how the required

Using grImport to create a watermark
Hi… I want to use grImport to create a watermark on a plot() using the methods Paul Murrell describes here: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/grImport/vignettes/import.pdf (page 28). I can essentially reproduce this manually at the R prompt, and independently I can use grid.picture(…) successfully in a R script, but when I attempt to do do this in my script: • • •

Insert .eps files in to an R plot.
Hello Everybody, I have an eps figure an awesome bacteria and a plot (generated using R) also in eps format. Now it looks like there is space for only one figure and I have to insert the picture of the bacteria into the plot. Is there a way to insert figures (eps/png/jpg) in to plots (may be control over placement of figures in the plot as well?) ? By plots I mean data represented using axes and

Error using PostScriptTrace()
I couldn't run PostScriptTrace() from the package "grImport" without an error. At first the postscript program couldn't be found. however the problem persisted after the full path the postscript program was indicated. I read earlier post on the subject in vain. See the codes and output below. The file "Senegal_location_map.ps" was originally a "svg" file from:

grImport/ghostscript problems
Hi All: I've been struggling for a while trying to get grImport up and running. I'm on a Windows 7 (home premium 64 bit) machine running R-2.12.2 along with GPL Ghostscript 9.01. I've set my Windows PATH variable to point to the Ghostscript \bin and \lib directories, and I've created the R_GSCMD environment variable pointing to gswin32c.exe. I don't have any experience with

fill map with gradient: package?
Hi, I'd like to fill an existing svg (or png) map with gradient colors. In detail: The file http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Karte_%C3%96sterreich_Bundesl%C3%A4nder.svg should be filled with the population density data from this table: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96sterreich#Verwaltungsgliederung choosing the right color saturation (or whatever). The final result should be something

Insert raster image into an R graphic
Dear useRs: Is there a way to include a raster image (e.g., .gif, .jpg, .bmp) representing a company logo, a school logo, etc. into an R graphic? For example, it would be nice to be able to include the logo of the school into the charts that a student produces for her dissertation. Similarly, while working on a competitive analysis, it would be nice to be able to replace the names of the

Positioning text in top left corner of plot
Simple question how can you position text in the top left hand corner of a plot? I am plotting multiple plots using par(mfrow=c(2,3)) and all I want to do is label these plots a), b), c) etc. I have been fiddling around with both text and mtext but without much luck. text is fine but each plot has a different scale on the axis and so this makes it problematic. What is the best way to do this?

Oops. You can fix this by changing llvm-gcc: gcc/llvm-abi.h Grep for instances of Int64Ty there. I can help answer any q's you

[LLVMdev] another problem with function arguments aligment
The ARM EABI (AAPCS) defines: - i64 values are 8-bytes aligned - "The alignment of an aggregate shall be the alignment of its most-aligned component." So, struct ss { int x; int y; }; void f(int a, struct ss b); r0 <- a r1-r2 <- b void g(int a, long long b); r0 <- a r2-r3 <- b The problem is: llvm-gcc generates the same bytecode for both functions: declare void

package grid: mirror grob objects along an axis
Hi everyone I'd like to flip grobs (grid graphical objects) along an axis, e.g. flip grobs horizontally or vertically. I couldn't find any hints, neither in the documentation nor by searching the web. Does anybody know how to achieve this? Cheers /thomas

[LLVMdev] another problem with function arguments aligment
I think, we must move function arguments lowering from frontend to LLVM core. This lowering is generating machine dependent bytecode. See http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1230 Lauro 2007/2/26, Chris Lattner <sabre at nondot.org>: > On Mon, 26 Feb 2007, Lauro Ramos Venancio wrote: > > The problem is: llvm-gcc generates the same bytecode for both functions: > > > >

ggplot2: positioning legend on top of plot
Hi, With ggplot2 v0.8, how do I position a legend on top of the plot. Things like p + opts(legend.position="top") work ok. But p + opts(legend.position=c(0.5,0.5)) gives Error in as.character(x) : cannot coerce type 'closure' to vector of type 'character' so obviously I should be giving a string instead but I can't figure out what it should be. Thanks,

[FORGED] Different results based on the order of arguments to par
Paul, I was trying to make a minimal self contained example, but I guess I went too far on the minimizing. The original problem came from code more like: library(TeachingDemos) hist(rexp(1000), main='') abline( v=1, col='red') sp.par <- subplot(hist(rnorm(100), main=''), x='topright') op <- par(sp.par[c('usr', 'plt')]) abline(v=0,

Different results based on the order of arguments to par
I ran into this issue when trying to modify a subplot (subplot function in the TeachingDemos package), but here is a more minimal example of the issue (I don't know that it is serious enough to call a bug): This code works how I expect: dev.new() hist(rexp(100)) par(plt=c(0.5,0.9,0.5,0.77), usr=c(0,1,0,1)) box() # show new plt region points(c(0,1), c(0,1), pch=16, col='red', cex=3)
