Need help on matrix manipulation
Dear all, Ket say I have 3 matrices : mat1 <- matrix(rnorm(16), 4) mat2 <- matrix(rnorm(16), 4) mat3 <- matrix(rnorm(16), 4) Now I want to merge those three matrices to a single one with dimension 4*3=12 and 4 wherein on resulting matrix, row 1,4,7,10 will be row-1,2,3,4 of "mat1", row 2,5,8,11 will be row-1,2,3,4 of "mat2" and row 3,6,8,12 will be row-1,2,3,4 of

Fw: Problem to create a matrix polynomial
Awaiting some suggestion. Was my question not very understandable? Please let me know how can I offer more elaborate clarification. Additionally, I would like to solve the determinant of "p1" for the values of "z" (I am working with some multivariate time series modelling). When I use det() function, it am getting error that, that function is not for objects with class

Replacing elements of list
Dear all, I have following two list object, both are basically collection of matrices : dat1 <- matrix(rnorm(25*6), ncol=6) dat1 <- split(dat1, seq(5,25,by=5)) dat1 <- lapply(dat1, matrix, ncol=6) dat2 <- matrix(rnorm(25*4), ncol=4) dat2 <- split(dat2, seq(5,25,by=5)) dat2 <- lapply(dat2, matrix, ncol=4) Now I want to replace last 4 columns of each matrix at "dat1"

object size of a matrix and a list
Hello, My program calculates several variables at each iteration and some of them are integers and the rest are numeric. When I save them into a matrix, all of them are of numeric type, of course. I'm trying to find a way to save time/memory of my program and I was thinking that it might help to force some variables to be of integer type and the other columns numeric type. But when I

How to convert an ftable object to a matrix including the row names?
Dear expeRts, What's the easiest way to convert an ftable object to a matrix such that the row names of the ftable object are shown in the first couple of columns of the matrix? This is (typically) required, for example, when the final goal is to print the matrix via xtable. Below is a rather complicated example of how to do it... Cheers, Marius ## Goal: convert an ftable() to a

gls model and matrix operations
Dear List: I am estimating a gls model and am having to make some rather unconventional modifications to handle a particular problem I have identified. My aim is to fit a GLS with an AR1 structure, obtain the variance-covariance matrix (V), modify it as needed given my research problem, and then reestimate the GLS by brute force using matrix operations. All seems to be working almost perfectly,

Extract from matrix
Hi all. I have certain problem with the extraction of data from matrices. I know how extract elements from a matrix, but what I would like to do is to extract a concrete number, not an element. For example if I have this matrix X: [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [1,] 3 13 23 33 [2,] 9 19 29 39 [3,] 10 20 30 40 I can do X[-2] or X[2] in order to eliminate the element of the

number of an element in a matrix
Hi, I wonder if there is any function which gives the number of times which an element is repeated in the matrix. Let say there is a matrix, I would like to find out how many times number 2 has been repeated in the matrix, or in other words, how many elements of the matrix are equal 2.
