mapping of colornames into hsv: half way done
Ok, now we have the mapping of color names to color codes (see below) and conversion to rgb (something like Ben Bolker's function), but how to convert rgb to hsv? Thanks to Brian Ripley, Peter Dalgaard and Ben Bolker Details below Regards Jens etc/colors.big maps 455 names to rgb in S syntax etc/rgb.txt maps 657 names to rgb in C syntax, but unlike colors() it has mixed upper and

Colouring areas on a map with updated maptools functions
Hi - I'm trying to plot a map from a shapefile and then colour different areas of it depending on different attributes of those areas. A couple of years ago I used some code to do this that would plot a map in R from a shapefile (states within a country). It then uploaded a .txt file which had the same number of rows as the shapefile and one column populated with numbers from 1 to 8 which

SPM/SemiPar -- Plotting additive interactions
I'm taking the residual-regression approach to semiparametric estimation (Robinson 1988, Econometrica), and basically using SemiPar simply as a convenient means of doing multivariate nonparamteric additive models. The final bit of code is here: finalfit <- spm(res~f(V3,basis="trunc.poly")+f(V5,basis="trunc.poly")+f(V6,basis="trunc.poly")) summary(finalfit)

SemiPar/spm question
Hello -- I posted this question yesterday and for some reason the post seems to be attached to the wrong thread. Also, I extended my test a little and it seems to indicate the problem is with spm. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. ========================================================== library(plyr) library(SemiPar) data <-

FW: Predictive accuracy measures in a recently released R package, spm: Spatial Predictive Modelling [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Hi All, Just thought you might be interested in a recently released R package, spm: Spatial Predictive Modelling. It aims to introduce some novel, accurate, hybrid geostatistical and machine learning methods for spatial predictive modelling. Of 22 functions available in spm, two functions are for accuracy assessment. Perhaps they are not only useful tools for spatial predictive modelling

A new version (1.1.0) of the “spm” package for spatial predictive modelling reelased on CRAN [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Dear R users, A new version (1.1.0) of the ?spm? package for spatial predictive modelling is now available on CRAN. The introductory vignette is available here: https://cran.rstudio.com/web/packages/spm/vignettes/spm.html There are several new enhancements to the package including a fast version of random forest in using ranger (rg) library(ranger) and the ability to convert relevant

spm() default knots
Hi, When you use the default knot choice in spm() (library(SemiPar)) a figure showing the knot locations is sent to the screen and you have to accept the knots to move on. I am trying to run simulations using this function. Is there a way to get spm() to use the default "REML" knots without needing to approve each set of knots? Here is an example: library(SemiPar) data(scallop)

color2d.maplot error
Dear all I am using color2D.maplot to map some matrixes to plot. everything works fine. It seems that when my matrix contains only the same value color2D.maplot returns the following error: color2D.matplot(estimatedsr,redrange=c(0,1),greenrange=c(0,.5),bluerange=c(0,.5),xlab="x",ylab="y",main=sprintf('Estimated'),show.legend=TRUE,show.values=TRUE) Error in rgb(reds,
