subtitle in Hmisc xYplot
Ok so I am trying to add a subtitle to my xYplot using Hmisc and I have some
dummy code of
x<-seq(1,10,1)
y<-rev(seq(1,10,1))
ci<-y*.10
ciupper<-y+ci
cilower<-y-ci
this code works fine:
xYplot(Cbind(y,ciupper,cilower)~x, type=c("b"),plot.points = TRUE,
method='filled bands', main='main title')
but when I add sub=. at the end and use this

Hmisc and Lattice question on gridlines
I have been using lattice xyplot and am quite pleased, and I can use the
type=c("b","g") to have it print gridlines into the page, yet if I want to
have a line plot with points on it, how do I get the xYplot to print
gridlines (I use Hmisc xYplot because of its bands method which allows
plotting of confidence intervals). Any suggestions? I have looked at the
panel functions but

Multiple forest plots with the same x-axis and colour coded estimates and lines
Dear all,
I would like to draw three forest plots to represent results at years 1, 2
and 3. I have the data as point estimates and 95% confidence intervals.
Using the following code I can get three basic forest plots - the first
which has the table of results. I have to plot each separately as the usual
par(mfrow=c(3,1)) does not work with the function forestplot within rmeta.
I can easily put

Hi everyone-
I have a dataset with multiple "pre" and "post" variables I want to compare. The variables are named "apple_pre" or "pre_banana" with the corresponding post variables named "apple_post" or "post_banana". The variables are in no particular order.

[LLVMdev] How to get the return address on the stack on LLVM
Hi all,
I want to implement the Xor random canary, so I have to get the return
address in the prologue and epilogue of the function.
In the prologue of the function, before I insert into the canary on
the stack, I can get the return address by:
ConstantInt* ci =
llvm::ConstantInt::get(Type::getInt32Ty(RI->getContext()), 0);
Value* Args1[] = {ci};
CallInst* callInst =

Is there any design based two proportions z test?
Dear Md Kamruzzaman,
I've copied this response to the r-help list, where you originally asked
your question. That way, other people can follow the conversation, if
they're interested and there will be a record of the solution. Please
keep r-help in the loop

Strange Behavior using FUSE client
I've recently setup a distributed/replicated cluster and have had an issue
with seeing the directories on the cluster. Also, a df -h only shows data
from one of the three bricks.
The strange behavior doesn't end there. If I log into the 'primary' server
as root, then do an ls on the client, the directories appear. However, df -h
is still incorrect.
I'm not sure exactly

Compiling R-2.9.1 on Mac OS X 10.4
Hello,
I am trying to compile R-2.9.1 on Mac OS-X 10.4 using --enable-R-shlib.
I am not comfortable with Mac/Linux environments and trying to follow the
instructions from CRAN site to every detail.
The Mac OS did not have a gcc (gcc -version did not work). So I did the
following:

R correlations.
Hi, anybody have any ideas on this ?
I have two sequences of proportions. Due to
conventions in my field, I need to produce a linear
correlation between the two. Each sequence of
proportions are based upon differing numbers of
observations (although within a sequence the number of
observations may not fluctuate too much) so it may be
necessary/advisable to variance stabilize. Is their a

I'm CC'ing this to the list in case anyone knows why you're seeing this
behavior.

[LLVMdev] LLVM optmization
The following C test program was compiled using LLVM with -O3 option and MSVC with /O2.
The MSVC one is about 600 times faster than the one compiled with the LLVM.
We can see that the for loop in MSVC assembler is solved in the optimization pass more efficiently than that in LLVM.
Is there an way to get a optimization result in LLVM like that of the MSVC?

It was my fault, as you have seen. Y matrix must contain successes and failures, and not successes and trials.

R-1.7.1 package installation problem
Hi there,
I am a bioinformatician working in DFCI. I am new to R. Yesterday I installed
the R-1.7.1 to my Linux (since I am not able to find R-1.8 on the webpage). But
I have some package installation problems ...
1. install.packages2() function isn't available. If I type at R prompt:

new book
Just thought I would mention that there is a new O'Reilly book out,
"Developing Bioinformatics Computer Skills", which is ok, pretty
superficial about some things but at least it lets you know what is
happening and where.
R gets a few pages in there, 394-396, mostly nice press and accurate

function design
I have a, no doubt, simple question. I wish to write a function such
that

Of course there are easier ways to accomplish the task above, but I am
more interested in how to have the "x <<- Y+1" part of the function to
change x in place for purposes of a much larger function.
I have been wrestling with
