Reading in a large number of dbf files
good morning This question is not a stats question per say but a data management and lattice plotting problem. I apologize now if I'm asking an inappropriate question to this gracious group. I'm need to bring in approximately 100 *.dbf files into R but I'm having difficultly understanding several examples I've tracked down regarding this procedure and could benefit from your

String manipulation with regexpr, got to be a better way
Help-Rs,   I'm doing some string manipulation in a file where I converted a string date in mm/dd/yyyy format and returned the date yyyy.   I've used regexpr (hat tip to Gabor G for a very nice earlier post on this function) in steps (I've un-nested the code and provided it and an example of what I did below.  My question is: is there a more efficient way to do this.  Specifically is

Date-time Conversion from Numeric Representations
Hi all, I have a dataset called ,dataSet1'. The time column is given in a numeric code beginning with the year and ending with the minutes. Frist I tried the strptime() function to solve the problem. It gave me just the date back (and not the date and time). There is also the ISOdatetime function which didn't work either. I created a dump file which I detached to this mail with the

Losing custom attributes
Hi All, I was adding a new row of data to my data frame using rbind(). I was surprised to see that after adding new row, I lost my data frame level attibute as well as col level attribute. Please help me to insert a new row at frist or middle position so that my custom attribute is not lost. Here is what I did. age<-c(15,20,18) weight<-c(40,42,30) ### creating my data frame

[LLVMdev] How to define complicated instruction in TableGen (Direct3D shader instruction)
Each register is a 4-component (namely, r, g, b, a) vector register. They are actually defined as llvm packed [4xfloat]. The instruction: add_sat r0.a, r1_bias.xxyy, r3_x2.zzzz Explaination: '.a' is a writemask. only the specified component will be update '.xxyy' and '.zzzz' are swizzle masks, specify the component permutation, simliar to the Intel SSE permutation

Global Data, where can it go?
I''m developing a stateful Ruby application that needs to keep data in one location where all people accessing the site can modify its contents. This data will be read-from/written to often, so I would prefer for rails to keep it in memory, rather than a database. My frist try involved global variables. After discovering that they were being "re-initialized" with each new

[LLVMdev] How to define complicated instruction in TableGen (Direct3D shader instruction)
Actually the problems that Tzu-Chien Chiu are encountering are similar to what should be done for generating SSE code in the X86 backend and also other SIMD instruction sets. I think LLVM neeeds to add instructions for permuting components, extracting and injecting elements in packed types. If the architecture has instructions which can do permutations for each instruction (for example

Call files error
Hi All, I'm having some troubles with using call files. I'm trying to establish the following: - want to use call files to connect two (outside) extensions - want to use the outbound routes set in FreePBX - want to set the outgoing callerid for both calls - want to set a custom CDR field in MySQL ( field name 'azonosito' ) Asterisk is version 1.8.2.3 with freepbx 2.8.1. [LLVMdev] Structure memory layout
Hi LLVM members, I have been working to make target independent memory layout for struct type(Aggregate type) in my team. I think that struct type has different memory layouts according to each target system in current LLVM. To implement target dependent concept for struct type, Frist, I have been implementing common type for struct type on bitcode at compilation time using llvm-gcc and then

SPSS F-test on change in R square between hierarchical models
Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows how to perform an F-test on the change in R square between hierarchical models in R? SPSS provides this information and a researcher that I am working with is interested in getting this information. Alternatively, if someone knows how I can calculate the test statistic (SPSS calls it F-change?) and dfs that would be helpful as well. The output and the test I am

CRAN Task Views: ctv package available
Dear developeRs, in the last month I mentioned in several discussions on R-help that Kurt and I were working on tools for "CRAN Task Views" which should help to structure the fast-growing list of packages on CRAN. Now the first version of a package called ctv (for CRAN Task Views) is available from CRAN and also two frist drafts for such views can be seen at

Policy after fsck fixes errors
Hello, Yesterday evening this box crashed and, for once, ext3 was not able to recover automatically. There was an "unexpected inconsistency inode xxxxx has imagic flag set" error and the system would not boot. I fscked from my rescue disk and I guess 20 or 30 errors were fixed by me just selecting "y" at the prompt. The system then booted and, so far as I can tell, the only

Fractional Polynomials in Competing Risks setting
Dear All, I have analysed time to event data for continuous variables by considering the multivariable fractional polynomial (MFP) model and comparing this to the untransformed and log transformed model to determine which transformation, if any, is best. This was possible as the Cox model was the underlying model. However, I am now at the situation where the assumption that the competing risks

Call queues on load-balanced asterisks
Hello, I have been asked to implement the following design: Load-balanced Kamailio servers handling registrations and routing. Load-balanced asterisk feature servers handling voicemail and other things Kamailio cannot do. Plus several load-balanced gateways, but they are not relevant to my question. All this is working fine. I've now been asked to start implementing calling queues, and my
