ggplot facet spacing, wrapping
I'm running into some problems with the spacing of some faceted ggplot plots. I have a number of time series faceted to be one above another, but the scale labels of the y axes all clobber each other at the bottom/top of each. for example, try: qplot(x, y, data = data.frame(x = 1:10, y = 1:10, size = 1:10), facets = size ~ ., size = size) + scale_x_continuous(breaks = 1:10) +

Creating Sub-Matrix
Hello, How do I get sub-matrix? Example, I would like to get matrix of size 3x7 from the matrix of size 4x7. Meaning that I try to exclude one row of the original matrix. Thanks -rofizah- [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

creating a grid of function values
I want to create a grid of function values for use in `contour' or `persp'. The function is the log-likelihood for the gamma. The sample is stored as vector of length 20 called `Survival'. A single evaluation of the log-likelihood at, say, scale = 9 and shape = 10 would be obtained by sum(dgamma(Survival, scale = 9, shape = 10, log = TRUE)) (This may work only 0.99.0, I'm not

Xgird, R, parallel computing
Hi, list, Sorry if I am bothering you. I am interested in using xgrid with R for distributed computing. I am using MacOS X and my R 2.1. 1 is already installed and running. The client computers are all of the same type and the same version of R has been installed on them. We have also set up xgrid on my system and client computers as well. I am wondering if any one can give me some clues

R for-loop to add layer to lattice plot
Hello, I am using e1071 to run support vector machine. I would like to plot the data with lattice and specifically show the hyperplanes created by the system. I can store the hyperplane as a contour in an object, and I can plot one object at a time. Since there will be thousands of elements to plot, I can't manually add them one by one to the plot, so I tried to loop into them, but only the

ParallelR
Anyone using or has access to ParallelR? I was looking at the page and found nothing really useful! http://www.revolution-computing.com/sitegenius/topic.php?id=195 I want to see if I can run R on a cluster of workstation, and use batch systems like Grid Engine or Xgrid: http://gridengine.sunsource.net/ http://ww.apple.com/acg/xgrid/ --Chi

RAID benchmarks
We (a small college with about 3000 active accounts) are currently in the process of moving from UW IMAP running on linux to dovecot running on a cluster of 3 or 4 new faster Linux machines. (Initially using perdition to split the load.) As we are building and designing the system, I'm attempting to take (or find) benchmarks everywhere I can in order to make informed decisions and so

Outer with Three Vectors
Hello, outer() is great for avoiding things like: for (val1 in val1s) { for (val2 in val2s)) { x[i,j] <- somefunction(val1, val2) } } The same can be obtained with: outer(val1s, val2s, somefunction) But what if there are three (or more) sets of values to loop over? Any way of avoiding the loops then? Thanks, -- Wolfgang Viechtbauer

Output to sequentially numbered files... also, ideas for running R on Xgrid
Hello, I have some code to run on an XGrid cluster. Currently the code is written as a single, large job... this is no good for trying to run in parallel. To break it up I have basically taken out the highest level for-loop and am planning on batch-running many jobs, each one representing an instance of the removed loop. However, when it comes to output I am stuck. Previously the output was

Very slow in processing the equation in the scatter plot ggplot
Hello All, I have plotted a scatter plot in ggplot2 and added a regression line and a regression equation. But the processing is very very slow. One reason might be because I have so many data pairs. Is there any way to speed up this code ? I need to create a multiple layout as well. The code I have used is as follows: setwd("C:/Users/jzd0009/Documents/R software") mydata <-

Combined plot: Scatter + density plot
Hi, in order to save space for a publication, it would be nice to have a combined scatter and density plot similar to what is shows on http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/RGraphGallery.php?graph=78 I wonder if anybody perhaps has already developed code for this and is willing to share. This is the reproducible code for the histogram version obtained from the site: def.par <-

nice log-log plots
Dear All, I am trying to produce log-log plots in R and I was wondering if any of you have a 'template' for generating these with 'nice' labels and log-log grids? I know I can set up axes individually and use the intervals I want, however, I will be producing a large number of these plots and would not like to do this manually for each of them + I am very new to R and at the

Web photo gallery options
Hi all, I'm looking for a web photo gallery for my personal web server at home. Till now I've done the galleries manually from Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I feel that is a dead end, kinda', besides the fact that the galleries created are rather static. I'd like an easier way to do this, eg uploading images in folders directly to the gallery and it will take care of what needs to

xgrid package: Access Apple Xgrid using R
The package xgrid 0.1-11 is now available on CRAN.? The package provides functions to distribute and collate results from simulation studies and other computationally expensive tasks to Apple Xgrid clusters from within R. More specifically, the routines within the package facilitate access to Apple Xgrid clusters (which can be created using standard installations of Mac OS X, for example in a
