log error for use on axis
Hi,
I am new to R plot. I am trying to scale my y axis in log. When I
do this I receive the following error
Error in axis(side = side, at = at, labels = labels, ...) :
CreateAtVector [log-axis()]: axp[0] = 0 < 0!
In addition: Warning messages:
1: In plot.window(...) :
nonfinite axis limits [GScale(-inf,1.31772,2, .); log=1]

Currently, hist(..., log="y") fails with

hist(..., log="y")
hist() is designed so that the total area sums to 1. You should build you desired behavior using a barchart.

some error messages using arm cpu with Debian
I have a small handheld pc having ARM process as a CPU. I installed debian and installed R using apt-get command. Everything worked great except for drawing even simple graphs

I got error messages
1: Nonfinite axis limits [GScale(nan,nan,1, .); log=0]
2: relative range of values = 9.0072e+15 * EPS, is small (axis 1).

problems with plot()
I have a list of vectors of length 2, each representing a point in 2-space,
and each of which I wish to plot on the current plot.
In a loop, I assign the x and y coordinates of the current element of the
list to variables 'x' and 'y' respectively, then make a call to plot as
follows:

Reversing axis in a log plot
Hello,
apologies if I'm overlooking the obvious... I would like to revert a
logarithmic axis with R 2.1.0 on Linux, e.g. for using pressure as a
vertical coordinate. Say we have
x = seq(1,3, by = 0.01)
y = exp(x)
Plotting and reversing linear axis is fine
plot(x,y)
plot(x,y, ylim = c(30,1))
as is a usual log-plot:
plot(x,y, log = "y", ylim = c(1,30))

Adding axis limit to log-log plot
Dear All,
I've tried to add axis limit ( e.g. ylim=c(0,50)) to the log-log plot, but it turn out to be error (see below). Any solution is much appreciated.

beanplot without log scale?
Is it possible to force beanplot not to use a log scale? I want to be able to create multiple beanplots of different data on the same specified y-axis.
When I try to force a ylim, I get the following...

Possible error in ?axTicks
Hi all,
Before posting to r-bugs, I thought that I would just verify this one
first.
It looks like the help for axTicks() needs to be corrected.
It presently says:
'axTicks()' can be regarded as an R implementation of the C function
'CreateAtVector()' in '..../src/main/graphics.c' which is called by
'axis(side,*)' when no argument 'at' is specified.

R 1.3.1 fails 'make check' on arm in the Bessel example (PR#1097)
Debian tries to build its packages on a variety of platforms. The arm
platform compiled 0.90.1 (the last Debian release before the Debian package
required an Atlas library, something we no longer require) failed in 'make
check'. The log snippet follows; I traced this to the example(Bessel) code.

axTicks on a reverse ylog plot (PR#7973)
There is still issues with the reversed y-log scale plot:

converting 3D array to a data-frame (with coordinate-columns x, y, z)
Hi,
I am still struggling with three dimensional arrays.
Now I would like to convert a three dimensional array into a data-frame with the coordinate-columns: x, y, z and a value-column.
And I definitely don't want to loop over every element, since this would be very resource intensive for the actual data-set.
Are there any specific functions that are helpful for this task?

overlay two facet_grid
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to overlay two facet_grids? I have two facet grids as following:
ggplot(data=df,aes(x=TE,y=TR,color="orange"))+geom_point()+facet_grid(FS+TRJ~OR+INV,labeller=label_both)+xlim(0,200)+ylim(0,10000)
ggplot(data=df,aes(x=TE,y=TR))+geom_point(aes(color=TST))+facet_grid(FS+TRJ~OR+INV,labeller=label_both)+xlim(0,200)+ylim(0,10000)

Zooming in to a ggplot (a sort of ylim, but ylim won't do)
Dear Helpers,
I wonder whether you might be able to help me. I have a plot composed of
ggplot (and a follow on geom_smooth call). I would like to restrict the
display range of the y axis to a smaller range, a sort of zooming onto a
region. I attempted to use ylim, but it will effect the range (i.e. effect
the geom_smooth call). Is there any way that I can save the results up to
geom_smooth call

merging data.frames of different length
hi,
I have two data.frames each with two columns;
x1
1 4
1 3
1 6
2 9
2 2
2 5
3 6
3 7
3 4
x2
1 -3
1 -7
2 -3
2 -2
2 -8

3 -1
now I want to merge this data.frames to one data.frame.
The problem is, that sometimes there is a different number of elements
per category.
(like above x1 has 3 values for the value 1 in the first row, but x2

Reverse plot axes with xlim=rev(range(x)) fails with asp=1
Dear R users,
I would like to reverse the axes on some xy plots (for example to set the
origin at the top left rather than the bottom left). I had planned to use
something of the following form:
plot(y=y<-c(20,4,5,6),x=x<-c(10,20,30,40),ylim=rev(range(y)))
ie reversing ylim to reverse the y axis. This works fine however I also
want to use the parameter asp=1 to ensure that equal

pretty for a log-axis
Is there a function that does the same as pretty but on a log-scale?
Suppose you have
x <- exp( runif( 100, 0, 6 ) )
(which will between 1 and 403), then I would like to have a result like:

Overlaying aesthetics is possible. Overlaying graphs is not. Without sample data, concrete examples will be unlikely to appear, so read the above link and pay attention to the dput function.
