incidence and adjacency matrix conversion
Dear all,
how can I convert an m x n incidence matrix into an m x m adjacency
matrix or an n x n adjacency matrix? The current matrix contains binary
data, hence the new matrix would contain counts of common occurrences.
Thank you for your help.

adjacency list to non-symmetric matrix
Dear R community,
is there an easy way to convert an adjacency list (or a data-frame) to a non-symmetric matrix?
The adjacency list has the following form:
person group
1 Sam a
2 Sam b
3 Sam c
4 Greg a
5 Tom b
6 Tom c
7 Tom d
8 Mary b
9 Mary d
I need the data in a matrix with persons as rows and groups as columns:
a b c d
Sam 1 1 1 0
Greg 1 0 0 0
Tom 0 1 1 1
Mary 0 1 0 1
I know that there

how to apply several math/logic operations on columns/rows of a matrix
Dear R-Fans,
The more I work with matrices (e.g., data.frames) the more I think it
would be helpful to have functions to apply (several!) mathematical
and/or logical operators column- or row-wise in a matrix.
I know the function apply() and all its derivates (e.g., lapply) but I
think this does not help for solving (e.g.) the following task:
assume there is a 3x3 matrix:

isoMDS vs. other non-metric non-R routines
Dear useRs,
last week I asked you about a problem related to isoMDS. It turned
out that in my case isoMDS was trapped. Nonetheless, I still have
some problems with other data sets. Therefore I would like to know if
anyone here has experience with how well isoMDS performs in
comparison to other non-metric MDS routines, like Minissa.
I have the feeling that for large data sets with a high

Exporting a method to a cluster object
Hi,
This is my first message to this list. It would be great if people here
could help me with the following problem (self-contained code example
below):
I have a list of matrices and would like to apply a summary function to
the matrices in the list. The matrices represent social networks,
therefore I need to apply some specialized summary functions provided by
the ergm package. These

Drag & Drop between two browser windows??
Hi All,
I''m just starting out with RoR and scriptaculous so I hope this is the
right forum for this question. :)
I''d like to use the drag & drop feature to allow users to copy text from
a browse/search result to a text box across windows.
For example if a user wants to browse for an existing tags, that list
might be too long for a auto complete textfield to be helpful.

2.0.7 pre2: creating shares with SWAT
Testing Samba 2.0.7pre2 I found that creating new shares with SWAT does not work,
just the Samba-logo appears, but nothing else.

Sound shuts off when going past the main menu in MGS1
I've got Metal Gear Solid running fairly smoothly in Wine 1.3.31 on Mac OSX Snow Leopard, with no instability or crashes so far. When I start the game, the sound acts as it should-- however, going past the main menu (such as to Briefing or New Game) causes the sound to stop working. How can this issue be fixed?
Here's my console output:
