Broken Links on http://www.r-project.org
I was not sure who I should contact about this, so I am posting this here. There are a few broken links on the R website. 1) http://www.r-project.org/search.html -> link to the Nabble R Forum. I belive the correct/new URL should be: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/ 2) http://www.r-project.org/other-docs.html -> link to "Auswertung ?kologischer Daten". Not sure if there is a new

Hello - I cannot get to www.alpha.luc.ac.be/~jlindsey/rcode.html<http://www.alpha.luc.ac.be/%7Ejlindsey/rcode.html>to obtain and install the repeated library for use of glmm(). Is the web page not active? Can you give me an alternative location to obtain the repeated library? Thank you, Becky Parker [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Conditional model in R
Hello all, I have a data set where the response variable is the percent cover of a specific plant (represented in cover classes 0,1,2,3,4,5, or 6). This data set has a lot of zeros (plots where the plant was not present). I am trying to model cover class of the plant as a function of both total nitrogen and shrub cover. After quite a bit of research I have come across a conditional approach

stochastic course notes with R
I have just put the postscript file for the first draft of a manuscript of a course on The Statistical Analysis of Stochastic Processes in Time, as well as the R code to do all of the examples, on my web page at www.luc.ac.be/~jlindsey/manuscripts.html The chapters are Part I Basic principles 1. What is a stochastic process? 2. Normal theory models and extensions. Part II Categorical state

Hi, I am wondering whether anyone of you already implemented in R or S+ the methods of estimation the parameters of stable distribution. If there is, i will be happy to get the copy of the codes. Regards Dedi

Repeated measures
I have a data set in which I have 5000 repeated measures on 6 subjects over time (varying intervals, but measurements for all individuals are at the same times). There are two states, a "resting" state (the majority of the time), and a perturbed state. I have a continuous measurement at each time point for each of the individuals. I would like to determine the "state"

Covergence FLAG in glm (PR#7235)
Full_Name: Daniel R Jeske Version: 1.8.1 OS: Windows 2000 Submission from: (NULL) (138.23.228.79) We have just noticed that when you use glm() it seems the logical output 'converged' is always TRUE. The same data set that shows FALSE in version 1.7.1 shows TRUE in 1.8.1. And I know that FALSE is the correct answer...so it seems like we cannot trust the 'converged' flag for

Multiplication of Matrices
Hi, Suppose I have a matrix, A. Is there an easy way to find A^{n}? I mean, I can do something like: A %*% A %*% A %*% A for A^4, but if I want A^{10} it would be kind of annoying... inverse gaussian random numbers
Dear R-people Does someone have a routine to ngenerate inverse-gaussian random numbers. I am thinking of something similar to rinvgauss, pinvgauss etc. in S-plus. best regards Helgi -- Helgi Tomasson FAX: 354-552-6806 University of Iceland PHONE:354-525-4571 Faculty of Economics and Business Administration

MS executables for my libraries
An executable version 0.6 of my libraries is now available at www.luc.ac.be/~jlindsey/rcode.html This works with MS R0.64.2 and appears possibly to work with R65.0. There is a serious problem with the Fortran compiler as some of the examples for elliptic and carma crash it. These same examples do not crash R63.0 with the library executables of Jan 99. I am releasing this anyway because of the

How to test a time series fit the Poisson or other process?
Hi, R-Help, I am a newbie. what I concern most recently is the analysis of the time series, But there are a lot of package in my eyes. library for mixed GLM?
Dear all, I am taking a course in GLM given by a devoted SAS user. He has given us a homework where a mixed GLM with a logistic link and binomially distributed observations should be fitted. I know of the library nlme for mixed effect models but as I understand it, one cannot choose between different links and distributions in the functions provided there. I have so far managed very well with

uuid configure issue?
I'm trying to build xapian-core-1.2.2 on Linux. After manually installing uuid.h and libuuid.a from e2fsprogs-1.41.12, I receive the following configure error: checking for uuid.h... yes checking for uuid_create... no configure: error: uuid.h found, but uuid_create() not found.
