Double x grid in ggplot2
I am trying to overlay raw data with a boxplot as follows:
pp = qplot(factor(time, levels=0:60, ordered=TRUE),
error, data=dfsub, size=I(1), main =" title", ylab="Error

xlab="Time before ON (min)", alpha=I(1/10),
ylim=c(-30,40), geom="jitter") +

help to polish plot in ggplot2
Hi,
I wanted to generate a plot which is almost like the plot generated by the
following codes.
category <- paste("Geographical Category", 1:10)
grp1 <- rnorm(10, mean=10, sd=10)
grp2 <- rnorm(10, mean=20, sd=10)
grp3 <- rnorm(10, mean=15, sd=10)
grp4 <- rnorm(10, mean=12, sd=10)
mydat <- data.frame(category,grp1,grp2,grp3,grp4)
dat.m <- melt(mydat)

qplot/ggplot2 Questions
I took some data from an online poll about which R GUI people used most and I
am messing around with it to learn how to use qplot. Specifically I am
making a horizontal bar graph and I have two questions.
1. The categories are ordered in rather strange way at least to me. It is
not alphabetical or ascending/descending order of votes cast so i had to
manually state the order I wanted which is

Polishing my geom_bar for publication
Dear list,
I am new with ggplot2 and I have spend quiet some time putting together the following code to create the attached plot. However there's still a few things that I'm having trouble with!
I would be grateful if someone can tell me how to fix (1) the colour of my bars into grey scales (2) removing the y-axis (species name) on the right figure to avoid duplication, and (3) fix the

ggplot qplot bar removing bars when truncating scale
I'm having problems with this example, it is posted with reproduceable code
below, both with the normal 0-6 scale and the desired 3-6 scale (with bars
removed). How can I get the graph to have the desired 3-6 scale without
removing the bars. Thanks!

GGPLOT2: Distance of discrete values of from each end of x-axis
Hi Group,
I have been working with the code below. Everything seems to work
okay, except that the discrete values on the x-axis are far from each
end of the graph. I've tried several things including changing the
discrete values and playing with the limits, but can't get it to work.
I tested this on simulated data and do not have the same problem, so I
guessing it is how I'm

ggplot seq
Hi Hadley: Not sure if you received my email, so I am resending it again.
I have dealt with this before and I can't remember how it got resolved. It is too much data to reproduce the example below(49.000 records) but all I am after is trying to get the x axis breaks. I want my x axis to go from 27 to 51 and 1 to 25 by 2. I am trying to concatenate the breaks but it sorts the seq() in ascending

ggplot2 ordering in a faceted dotplot.
am trying to produce two dot plot figures in ggplot2. So far the first one (p) in the program below is working fine.
However when I want to move to a faceted plot (p1) I seem to lose my ordering or, more likely, I'm just getting an ordering I am not expecting and I always have trouble understanding ordering in R!
What I would like is the 2011 panel to be ordered in descending order as is

ggplot2: setting martin
Is it possible to set the margin in ggplot2 to a fixed size? I create many
plots, and I want them to look the same.
Especially I want them to have the same left margin.
But
P<-ggplot()+geom_bar(aes(c("short label1","short
label2"),runif(2)))+coord_flip()
P<-creates a plot with another margin as
ggplot()+geom_bar(aes(c("very very very very long

Changing X axis of ggplot
Thanks to Joshua Wiley for turning me on to ggplot2.
I am making a plot using this:
p <- ggplot(dallas, aes(x = offense_hour)) + geom_bar() + coord_polar()
Dallas is a data frame, and offense_hour is a column with chron
objects from the chron library. In this case, the chron object was
created with the times function. It is only a time (H:M:S) with no
date attached.
The plot shows up fine,

ggplot and scale_x_date
Hi all,
I have a question about setting arbitrary breaks/labels when using GGPLOT
and date/time data on the x-axis. I want to specify the breaks/limits
arbitrarily rather than using scale_x_date(major = 'blah'), much like when
arbitrarily defining breaks/labels using scale_x_discrete(breaks = blah,
labels = blah)
I have tried variants such as:
scale_x_date(major = seq(from =

ggplot2: changing axis labels in ggplot()
Hi all,
For various reasons, I need to use ggplot instead of qplot for a complex
figure. Everything is working fine, except I cannot figure out how to rename
the axis labels in ggplot. I have pasted a simple example below. Any ideas
on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks for your help.

Cambiar orden top-down stacked area ggplot2
Buenos días, con el código de abajo obtengo un agregate que empieza por
abajo con la categoría C7 y termina arriba por la C1. Me gustaría que
fuera al revés, que la C1 estuviera abajo y ascendiera hasta tener la C7
arriba.
Gracias,
Manuel

How to suppress factor labels

Suppressing the labelling of tick marks on ggplot2
Hi,
I have the follow ggplot2 code I am running:
ggplot(data=bb.res.math,aes(x=factor(id.bb),y=bb.math.comb,fill=BB)) + geom_bar() + facet_grid(BB~.) + scale_fill_brewer(pal="Set1") + ylab("Average Student Residual (Math)") + xlab("Student ID")
The number of unique id.bb is 2207 and so my X-axis has a couple of thousands, indistinguishable tick marks that correspond

ggplot2 boxplot: horizontal, univariate
In ggplot2, I would like to make a boxplot that has the following properties:
(1) Contrary to default, the meaningful axis should be the horizontal axis.
Lattice does this, for instance, by
library(lattice);bwplot(~mtcars$mpg)
(2) It is *univariate*, i.e., of a single vector, say mtcars$mpg. I do not wish to make separate plots for the different values of mtcars$cyl.
(3) Nothing on the

Putting 733 discrete categories on Y-axis in qqplot2 as they are
Hi all;
I have 733 discrete categories that will go on y-axis in ggplot2. I used
the following command to put the name of x-axis.
scale_x_discrete (limits = c("SI", "HOMAIR",
"AIR","HOMAB","SG","DI","FI","FG"))
Since there are only 8 categories on x it was easy to do. Is there any way
to do the same for 733 discrete

ggplot2 boxplot confusion
Ultimately my aim is to get a plot of density faceted by 2 factors with a
horizontal boxplot overlaid on each density plot in the grid to indicate
summary stats. So I've been experimenting with creating boxplots and density
plots. Here's some representative data.
series = c('C2','C4','C8','C10','C15','C20')
