Rtools questions
Hello: 1. How can I tell when the development version of Rtools has changed? For the past few years, I've installed the development version of R tools with each new release of R. I encountered problems with this a few days ago, so I rolled back to Rtools212.exe. Unfortunately, I seem to have more problems with that version. My latest install was under Windows 7 Home Edition.

File name determines success or failure of package installation -- please help
Synopsis: I am trying to build and install a package in R, but I have run into a problem where the file names determine success or failure of the package installation. I started with a single file containing two class definitions. This package installs properly. If I split the classes into two files, the build fails. If I simply change the file name of one file with no other changes, the

Vignette using parallel's makeCluster function has trouble building on Windows 7
Hi, all-- I've been working on a doParallel package to provide a foreach parallel backend for the new parallel package, but I am having trouble building the vignette. On my system, if I use the following minimal vignette (call it buggyVignette.Rnw): \documentclass[a4paper]{article} \title{Sweave Example 1} \author{Rich Calaway} \begin{document} \maketitle In this example

error possibly related to sweave, path, and spaces on windows
I have downloaded a file that I don't know how to describe correctly. It contains R code and Latex, and I should be able to reproduce an analysis by running an R script in this folder. There is a line in the R script: junk <- system(paste("/usr/texbin/pdflatex ",latexFiles[i1]), intern=TRUE) that needs to be modified to run on my computer. I use WinEdt with

"could not find function" error in "R CMD check"
Hi, All: What might cause "R CMD check" to report, "could not find function" for a function that has long been in the 'fda' package? Both Jim Ramsay in Ottawa, Canada, and I in San Jose, CA, get this same error. I replicated it with a fresh, anonymous checkout from R-Forge (svn checkout svn://svn.r-forge.r-project.org/svnroot/fda). With this, I did

Adding an Sweave Vignette to a package
I'm finalizing development of a package that will include a vignette. Without the vignette, the package builds fine with no warnings and is ready for distribution. Now, I am following the directions for developing vignettes "Sweave, Part II: Package Vignettes" by Friedrich Leisch. I am using a windows XP machine (other session info below). Here is what I have done. 1) I add the

Problem with R CMD check and the inconsolata font business.
I have just installed R version 2.14.0 and tried to re-build and re-check some of the packages that I maintain. I'm getting a warning (in the process of running R CMD check on my "deldir" package): > * checking PDF version of manual ... WARNING > LaTeX errors when creating PDF version. > This typically indicates Rd problems. > LaTeX errors found: > ! Font

using an array of strings with strsplit, issue when including a space in split criteria
Dear all, I'm having a problem understanding why a split does not occur with in the 2nd use of the function strsplit below: # text strings > txt <- c("sales to 23 August 2008 published 29 August", + "sales to 6 September 2008 published?11 September") # first use > strsplit(txt, 'published', fixed=TRUE) [[1]] [1] "sales to 23 August 2008 "

extracting items from R objects and using them in \Sexpr with Sweave--problem with $
Running R 2.5.1 on WinXP with Tinn-R, and using Sweave via MikTex. I am having trouble with the code below: ------------------------------------------------------- <<lowerCI95>>= lowerCI95713 <- t.test(data713, alternative="greater") lowerCI95713.bound <- lowerCI95713$conf.int[1] @ Thus a lower 95\% confidence bound on the mean octane concentration is

R CMD build processes inst/doc/Makefile only if there are vignette files?
Hi, in Section 'Writing package vignettes' of 'Writing R Extensions' it says: "Whenever a Makefile is found, then R CMD build will try to run make after the Sweave runs, so PDF manuals can be created from arbitrary source formats (plain LaTeX files, ...). [...] Note that the make step is executed even if there are no files in Sweave format, [...]". In my package,

Clarification on generic functions and methods
I have constructed the following functions and need a little clarification: ### function to fit the model parameters jml.fit <- function(dat, con = 1e-3, bias=FALSE, ...){ do stuff ... } ### default function which calls jml.fit jml.default <- function(dat, con = 1e-3, bias=FALSE, ...){ result <- jml.fit(dat, con = 1e-3, bias) result$call <- match.call() class(result) <-

Miktex does not work with R CMD check
Dear DevelopeRs, the issue I am stuck with (I am on Windows, R-2.11): My Miktex (version 2.8) does not work with R CMD check, although Miktex on its own can pdflatex the tex-file in the Rcheck directory. (This issue has been going on for a while, and now, after having updated to R-2.11, I finally want to get it fixed.) Although I have found several similar posts, none of the answers appears

Memory in R on windows running 64bit XP
Hi I'm running 32-bit R on Windows XP 64bit and the machine has 16Gb of RAM. The help for memory.limit states: If 32-bit R is run on some 64-bit versions of Windows the maximum value of obtainable memory is just under 4GB. So, using the help which states the size parameter can go up to 4095: memory.limit(size=4095) When I run mclust I get: Error: cannot allocate vector of size 1.3 Gb So,

Windows problem related to using shortPathName for Sweave style file
In the process of updating R to R 2.7 alpha or R 2.7 beta for the BioConductor 2.2 builds on Windows, I have hit a snag because the BioC build system has long path names (e.g. D:\biocbld\bbs-2.2-bioc\R) and these path names are not resolving properly by MiKTeX 2.7 during vignette construction. Take, for example, the attached vignette from Biobase, Bioconductor.Rnw. I have built R from source
