Stacked geom_bar with aggregated SE -ggplot2
Hi there,? I've been battling with an extension of this in my own data: getting appropriate error bars once data is stacked in a bar graph.? (original question: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/ggplot2-se-variable-in-geom-errorbar-s-limits- td3311176.html). It wouldn't let me reply to that thread. A modification of the earlier answer:? data(diamonds)? ?diamonds_df <- ddply(diamonds,

ggplot2 histograms... a subtle error found
Hello all, I have a peculiar and particular bug that I stumbled across with ggplot2. I cannot seem to replicate it with anything other than my specific data set. Here is the problem: - when I try to plot a histogram, allowing for ggplot2 to decide the binwidths itself, I get the following error: - stat_bin: binwidth defaulted to range/30. Use 'binwidth = x' to

Performance problem
Dear all, I have a performance problem in terms of computing time. I estimate mixed models on a fairly large number of subgroups (10000) using lme(.) within the by(.) function and it takes hours to do the calculation on a fast notebook under Windows. I suspect by(.) to be a poor implementation for doing individual analysis on subgroups. Is there an alternative and more efficient way for doing

I''m looking for the right distribution to run Xen
Hi, we''ll start virtualization with Xen in our company and we''re looking for the right distribution. The most important Servers in DomUs are working with a MS OS (Win2000/2003/2008). I''ve read something about to accelerate Windows with paravirtual drivers in some distributions. Other distributions have specific tools to install and support DomUs. And now I''m

odbcQuery , memory.size
Dear R cracks I am trying to fetch 38 Tables from 38 ESRI Geodatabases through an ODBC connection. I stored the 38 channels in a list and the 38 tablenames in an other list. With a for(i in 1:38) .... sqlFetch(....) I try to read the tables into a third list. But always after a certain amount of rounds (mostly 16) i get Fehler in odbcQuery(channel, query, rows_at_time) : Calloc konnte

Off center graphics in World of Warcraft.
Hello all, I just installed the new Wine 9.23 on my Ubunut 6.06 LTS. I was able to get WoW to run with no problem except that the graphics on the screen apper to be moved down by a quarter of my screen, leaving a blank area at the top. As far a I can tell the games graphics are perfect, except for the posistion of the graphics. This only happens in WoW, Ubuntu's desktop and programs are

I have recently started a new job at an NHS hospital in Scotland. Since I took up this post 6 months ago I have had an ongoing dispute with the IT secutiry dept. who refuse to install R on my computer. I previously worked in another branch of the NHS where R was widely used and yet there is nothing I can say which will persuade the IT dept here to even visit the website! With some help from our

ggplot2: how to combine position=stack and position=dodge in a single graph?
Hi ggplot experts, I need to plot two time series of stacked data: a barchart with bars for each month. To compare the data of two years I need to combine both time series with in a single graph via position=doge. How should I do that? I tried the following scenario: I added two layers with the time series of the stacked data for both years. That worked well exept the bars are obscuring each

Speedups with Ra and jit
The topic of Ra and jit has come up on this list recently (see http://www.milbo.users.sonic.net/ra/index.html) so I thought people might be interested in this little demo. For it I used my machine, a 3-year old laptop with 2Gb memory running Windows XP, and the good old convolution example, the same one as used on the web page, (though the code on the web page has a slight glitch in it). xyplot() does not plot legends with "relation=free" scales
Hi all, I have this problem with lattice that xyplot() won't draw some of my axis labels if the type (i.e. the relation argument) of scales is set as free. For example, in the plot below, I would want it to also show: 1. the labels E1,...E6 below the 10th panel (i.e. 3rd row, 2 col)....just as it is now done below the 12th panel.... 2. as well as the labels (2,4,6,8) on the top of panels 1
