R neophyte question.
Hi all, I'm currently working through the "Beginner's Guide to R" (Zurr et al.) and I'm wondering about the first exercise in chapter 3: I imported the data from BirdFluCases.txt and executed the 'names' and 'str' functions as follows: Bird = read.table(file='C:\\rbook\\BirdFluCases2.txt', header=TRUE) names(Bird) [1] "Year"

PMA attacks
It appears to be a low-level attack, not so frequent as to be banned permanently, just a number of times a day. I did google on this, and I gather it's looking for phpmyadmin. We've been getting one from one specific network in Russia for weeks Here are more information about 91.201.64.24: [Querying whois.ripe.net] [whois.ripe.net] <snip> % Information related to '91.201.64.0

Investigating international calls fraud
Hello, I'm investigating a situation where there was a hundreds of minutes of calls from an internal SIP extension to an 855 number in Cambodia, resulting in a crazy ($25,000+) bill from the phone company. I'm investigating, but can anyone provide some feedback on what's happened here? I'm investigating how this happened as well as what types of arrangements can be made with the

You don't mention if the phone is remote, or local. Although you do mention it had a default user/pass. If the UI of the phone was/is accessible from the I'net, the GUI does have the ability to place a call from it, that is one way the calls could have been placed. Do you have DISA setup? We're seeing lots of attackers running scripts that send digits until they strike a DISA, misconfigured mailbox, etc. (Assuming it wasn't a stupid employee forwarding an inbound call to a 9xxxxxxx number etc). Have a look at SecAst (www.generationd.com) - it detects callers sending too many digits, monitors digit dialing speeds, etc. to help identify and block

How do I get Garamond font in R?
Folks, I run R on a early 2009 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. I have a bunch of fonts in my user Library one of which is Garamond. I have tried the ttf_import function to no avail. I played with this for a couple of hours at least and I have gotten nowhere. Here is a bit of one of my sessions (note that I used file.choose to get down to the Font level) > require(extrafont) Loading

Interfacing C++ , MysQL and R
Hello! After a presentation of some statistical analysis of process datas, (where the few R possibilities I was able to show made quite a big impression), I was asked if it was possible to program a statistical application which could be used directly by the end user. Such an application would include a userfriendly interface (developped in C++), a db , a core statistical program, standard

Hmm the calls are made during the day (and sometimes very early in the morning). Right now it looks like someone actually made these calls. If that is the case it's somewhat comforting to know the system wasn't compromised. However, the $25,000 phone bill still remains. Yikes. $6.25 per minute to Cambodia seems quite steep to me. R and Matlab
Dear Group, I am looking for ways to use R and Matlab. Doing the data transformations in R and using the data in Matlab to analyze with some pre-defined scripts. Any good ways to transfer the data into matlab in its most recent version? I tried using R.matlab but the writeMat output is not readable by Matlab. I just need to output a data.frame and read it as is into matlab where I can do any

New user help with plot.default
Hi - I'm just starting out with R and have come up against a problem with what should be a simple operation. I'm plotting a range of safety standards for 7 different chemicals. I don't want the standard box and whisker plot - I just a dot for each value. Whilst using "plot.default" I get the error "invalid xlim value" - which is confusing since using the same script

Status
So, just some quick notes: - dovecot.org server was down a couple of days again, need to find time to move it to a VM.. - my tss at iki.fi emails were also broken for some hours at least and it was bouncing back all mails to it during the time - I fixed some bugs reported by people, but I did it in airplane so couldn't reply back with links to the fixes in hg repo. I'll probably do
