plot scale
Hi, Is there a way to set the scale of a plot (i.e. number of axis units per centimeter) when you output it to postscript? If not, how am I supposed to plot graphs with different axis limits to the same scale? They just get resized to fit the paper so that graphs which show a smaller number of axis units end up with a larger scale. Cheers, Ben -- Dr. Ben Kenward Department of Psychology,

How to get the scale limits in lattice plot
I am drawing a density histogram, and want to label the plots with the mean using ltext(). But I need the x,y coordinates to feed into ltext, and I can't calculate them easily from my data. Is there a way to get the x and y ranges being used for the plot, so I can put the text at the correct position in the panel.function? Thanks, Jim Rome

R environment advice?
Hello, My questions are meant to be not necessarily specific...I am looking for advice and best practices for setting up an R environment. Here's my situation: I am one of perhaps three or four individuals who will be analyzing the same data through the use of R. I would like to set up a "base" environment for our project, basically some scripts that connect to a database, load

"[<-" plus drop-type extra argument
Hello I am writing a replacement method for an S4 class and want to pass an additional argument to "[<-"() along the lines of "["()'s "drop" argument. Specifically, I have an S4 class, call it "foo", with a slot 'x' that is a vector and a slot 'NC' that is a scalar. I want to be able to pass a Boolean argument to the

bitrate scaling by freq / quality bug ? / comments
Hi again! I have some other suggestions/modifications. 1. Bitrate scaling by frequency in vorbis_encode_init: bpch=(long)((float)nominal_bitrate/(float)channels*44100.0f/(float)rate); With this modification, if we use -b128 at 22khz files, the OGG file will be 128kbit/s, not 64kbit/s ... 2. Probable quality bug: I tested some floating point constants (recalculated them (see below) and encoded

Centos 7: UPD packet checksum verification?
First of all - disclaimer - I'm no network specialist, I just read and am interested in it. I may get things wrong!! > > > Both physical interfaces show the same. But does this mean it's on as in "rx- > checksumming: on" or off as in "tx-checksum-ipv4: off [fixed]"? As far as I understand it rx-checksum is the underlying wire checksumming - and from

Add instantly active local user accounts *with* password using useradd -p option ?
Hi, I need to setup a load of user accounts on a series of machines, for testing purposes. I'm using a script to do this, but the only problem I have so far: I have to activate them all manually by doing passwd user1, passwd user2, passwd user3, etcetera. The useradd man page mentions a -p option to define a password, but I can't seem to get this to work. Here's what I'd like

stripping extension from domain name
Thu, 3 Jul 2014 06:29:06 -0400 I know that the "%d" parameter is for the domain. Is there any way to use just the domain name sans its extension. EXAMPLE: example.com ==> example Also, I have a lot of logging going on in my dovecot log file. I want to limit it to just the barest amount, such as indicting what mail box mail was delivered to. Authentication errors, etcetera should

a way to interrupt a stuck R session on OSX
Discovered by accident: If your R session has become unresponsive to escape presses etcetera, you can try this. Open a terminal window, run the command ps -ax | grep R.app Note the process ID number in the first column. Say it's 1234. Then run kill -4 1234 The key is that the signal you are sending to R.app is "4". The Console will now ask you how you want to exit. This

OH323 with Asterisk@home - seems incomplete
I installed oh323 and everything seemed to go smoothly (compile & everything upto calling through using oh323). I must admit, there is some behavior that's doesn't seem right but generally, I'm able to dial-out of any oh323 device whether to an extension or to a trunk. Audio is sometimes muted when dialing out until the extension or dialed number answers. Sound quality is good

mvbutils and trackObjs
Hello Colleagues, I've recently become a fan of Mark Bravington's mvbutils package for organizing analysis projects in a tree. Using cd(), Save(), fixr(), mlazy() etcetera solves nicely some of the nuisances that have worried or annoyed me and sometimes caused big problems over the years. Well thought out. Now one feature that would be fabulous would be automatic time-stamping of

[v 2.3.4.1][quota] recalculation
Hello, I can't find the information on the wiki :( When is the quota recalculated after a mail deletion ? For instance, I am running low of storage and I use Thunderbird to delete large mail. I only notice a recalculation when I quit Thunderbirdb and I relaunch it. Even, with doveadm CLI, as long as Thunderbird is not disconnected on the client side, the server didn't recalculate the

How do you scale dovecot for good performance with Roundcube webmailer in front? (hitting limits without exhausting resources)
Good day, I am currently setting up/debugging a webmailer-only setup using Roundcube (latest version) with Dovecot (2.3.20, latest as of now). Generally speaking the setup performs OK, I wrote a JMeter Roundcube script to test the Roundcube. This includes actions like listing mails and fetching them. I am hitting a somehow dubious limit of 600 req/s though. (This includes all kinds of HTTP calls

xyplot lattice fine control of axes limits and thick marks (with log scale)
After a long and winding road (sorry but I'm a novice) I get to a final result which is quite close to what I need; nevertheless I would like to tweak a little further the xyplot so that I can get ***for each single panel defined by variable z*** a finer control over: -the x and y the limits: I would like to be the same for both axes; -the number of thick marks: again I would like to be same

Puppet Enterprise Live Management
Hello all, To experiment with Puppet Enterprise (we already use open source) and to create a case for our management to buy it, I''m trying to set up a Puppet Enterprise environment on some virtuals. While the puppet part works fine, and the client I''ve set up is doing fine as well, it seems the Live Management part is not. When I click on the Live Management tab it only
