Qurey : How to add trendline( st. line) in Graph
How to add trendline (i.e. straight line passing through maximum points)
in graph.
I have worked on the data given below.
Please tell me how to add trendline in the graph.

Trendline for a subset of data
Dear all,
I am using abline(lm ...) to insert a linear trendline through a portion of my data (e.g. dataset[,36:45]). However, I am finding that whilst the trendline is correctly displayed and representative of the data portion I've chosen, the line continues to run beyond this data segment and continues until it intersects the vertical axes at each side of the plot.
How do I display the

how to change the margins of a plot area
Dear all,
I am ploting two boxplot of two chemical variables using the format
boxplot(Alkalinity, logAlkalinity, log="y", col=c("lightblue"), lwd=0.6, boxwex=0.3)
However when I plot like this, the distance between the two boxplots is very big and as well the distance of each boxplot from the plot area, left and right. How can I minimise that distance between the boxplots and

Fast tau-estimator line does not appear on the plot
R-experts,
I have fitted many different lines. The fast-tau estimator (yellow line) seems strange to me?because this yellow line is not at all in agreement with the other lines (reverse slope, I mean the yellow line has a positive slope and the other ones have negative slope).
Is there something wrong in my R code ? Is it because the Y variable is 1 vector and should be a matrix ?
Here is the

Fast tau-estimator line does not appear on the plot
You need to pay attention to the documentation more closely. If you don't
know what something means, that is usually a signal that you need to study
more... in this case about the difference between an input variable and a
design (model) matrix. This is a concept from the standard linear algebra
formulation for regression equations. (Note that I have never used RobPer,
nor do I regularly

Time plots
Dear all,
I want to do some time plots and actually the dates are in the format of dd/mm/yyyy. So first I input my dataframe in R in a csv form. What I do is
DF<-read.csv("C:/Documents and Settings/DF.csv")
DATE<-as.Date(DATE, "%d/%m/%Y") # to tell R that DATE column is indeed dates
with(DF, plot(DATE,pH))
Until here it works fine, but I have the graph plotting

Fast tau-estimator line does ot appear on the plot
Dear R-experts,
Here below my reproducible R code. I want to add many straight lines to a plot using "abline"
The last fit (fast Tau-estimator, color yellow) will not appear on the plot. What is going wrong ?
Many thanks for your reply.

Boxplots with different variables and different ranges in R
Dear all,
I am trying to make boxplots in one diagram but it is not working. Actually I have a large dataset, around 35 water quality variables with different units and of course in different ranges (some are orders of magnitude bigger than others). I want to produce one diagram with all the boxplots of the variables of my dataset.
I tried these series of commands:

warning message when running quantile regression
Hi All,
I am running quantile regression in a "for loop" starting with 1
variable and adding a variable at a time reaching a maximum of 20
variables.
I get the following warning messages after my "for" loop runs. Should I
be concerned about these messages? I am building predictive models and
am not interested in inference.

fitting a distribution to a ecdf plot
Dear all,
I need to plot an cumulative distribution plot of a variable and then to fit a distribution to that, probably a weibull or lognormal.
I have plotted the ecdf as
> plot(ecdf(x))
but I haven't managed to fit the distribution. I have as well attached the data.
I would appreciate if you could help me on that.
Thank you.
Kind regards

Quantreg - 'could not find function"rq"'
Hi all,
I'm having some troubles with the Quantreg package. I am using R
version 2.10.0, and have downloaded the most recent version of Quantreg
(4.44) and SparseM (0.83 - required package). However, when I try to
run an analysis (e.g. fit1<-rq(y~x, tau=0.5)) I get an error message
saying that the function "rq" could not be found. I get the same
message when I try to search

superscript in ylab
Dear all
I am doing some plots in R.
I want to have as label in y-axis Temperature (oC). I have used ylab=expression(paste({Temperature} ^o*C)) but what I get is TemperatureoC.
How can I have a space between Temperature and the units and also the units to be in brackets?
Many thanks

Σχετ: show 0 at y axis in xyplot lattice
Dear all,
Thank you very much for the help. ylim=c(-5, 80) worked.?
Regarding the reproducible example, I used dput () and saved the file as txt. It is not the first time that I used this way and normally it works. Because when I try to attach a .csv file with the data, most of the time it doesn't go through.?
I will know for the next time.?
Many thanks.

Having problems with quantreg
Hi All,
I'm still having significantly difficulty getting the quantreg library
running in R. I'm running R on MEPIS using the debs created by Dirk
Eddelbuettel and placed in apt testing. When I try to install quantreg using
the install.packages() function it fails with: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find
-lblas-3
Dirk was nice enough to send me a .deb for quantreg which installs without

show 0 at y axis in xyplot lattice
Dear all
I am trying to make a plot in xyplot lattice by groups. I would like to show "0" in y axis but I don't want to be aligned with the x axis. I want to be a little bit above.
I have tried many options but I don't get what I want. I also tried ylim=c(0, 80) but both 0 and 80 are fully aligned with the x-axis and the upper boundary of the plot, respectively:

quantreg Wald-Test
Dear all,
I know that my question is somewhat special but I tried several times to
solve the problems on my own but I am unfortunately not able to compute the
following test statistic using the quantreg package. Well, here we go, I
appreciate every little comment or help as I really do not know how to tell
R what I want it to do^^
My situation is as follows: I have a data set containing a
