date axes and formats in levelplot
Hi all (and particularly Deepayan),
A while back Deepayan helped me with the query in the text below (thanks
again). Specifically it was about changing the way that dates plotted on
the axes of lattice plots.
While this works using xyplot, everything comes apart when I use
levelplot. The axis labels on the date axis are shown as the integer
representation of the date (number of seconds since

xyplot/levelplot: thickness of tickmarks
Hi,
if I use the xyplot (or levelplot) function (lattice library) with
the option axs="i", I have the problem that the tickmarks lie a bit
outside the "plot-box". Consider for example:

levelplot and source() problems
I have been using levelplot but have had trouble calling it inside
functions - something seems to go wrong when it's not called directly from
the R command prompt. Simplest reproducible example:
$ R --vanilla
> library(lattice)
> levelplot(matrix(1:4,2,2))
- This gives a nice plot in soothing pastel colors.
Now, with a file lptest.r containing 2 lines:

Layout within levelplot from the lattice package
Hi,
I'm a novice with levelplot and need some assistance! Basically, I want a window
which contains 6 levelplots of equal size presented in 3 columns and 2 rows.
I've tried to approach it two ways. The first way leads to this question:
Is there any way to concatenate levelplots from a factor vertically as opposed
to horizontally? I'd like to pair the levelplots by factor.2 on

aligning axis labels in a colorkey from levelplot
R does a great job with the fine details regarding plots. e.g in the
following:
library(lattice)
y <- -4:4/10
xyplot(y~1, las=1)
the y axis is labelled with numbers -0.4, -0.2, 0.0, 0.2, 0.4 with the
numbers aligned on the decimal point.
How do I get the same behaviour in the colorkey of a levelplot? e.g.
levelplot(matrix(y,3,3))
the numbers in the colorkey seem left-aligned, and

padding "bug" in lattice/levelplot
Hello,
I have encountered some unexpected behaviour with levelplot that may
simply be a misunderstanding on my part.
If I create a levelplot from a matrix with named columns, some
"padding" space appears at the top and bottom of the heatmap. Here is
an example, and I've used panel.fill to make the space I'm speaking of
evident (in green).

panel.levelplot() for 2D histograms

I'm trying to plot "binned scatterplots", or 2d histograms, if you wish, for
a number of groups by using the lattice functionality
it works fine for one group at a time, and probably I could find a
work-around, but I prefer to do it the elegant way

How can I make a lattice::levelplot block size uniform
Dear lattice::levelplot users,
I would like to use levelplot to plot uniformly sized blocks.
Here is an example:
require (lattice)
u = runif(10) * 10
v = runif(10) * 10
z = runif(10)
levelplot ( z ~ u + v, aspect="iso" )
The resultant figures have points (blocks) that are of variable size that
attempt to fill in the space along each u, v dimension. Is it possible to

using alpha transparency for lines in levelplot
Hello, I'm having trouble with using the alpha channel for transparency
with lines with lattice levelplots.
If I use transparency via the alpha argument to rgb to overplot lines on
levelplot the transparent colour affects all of the region colours in the
plot.
Can anyone explain why the difference in region colours?

Lattice levelplot- remove unused levels per panel
Hi,
I am using levelplot, and would like remove from each panel (condition) its
unused x levels.
e.g.
Remove from panel vs=1 the cyl level=8.
data(mtcars)
levelplot(mpg~factor(cyl)*factor(gear)|factor(vs))

lattice levelplot axis + custom annotations
How would I set the "scales" property of a lattice levelplot, so that
I can add specific annotations at specific positions?
For example, I have a 200 x 1000 element levelplot. Along the y-axis
(along the 1000-element axis) I would like to add annotations on the
left side of the levelplot at elements 120, 300, 500, and 805, which
represent clusters of interest.

decrease amount of ticks on y axis in lattice levelplot
Hi all,
How can I decrease the number of ticks on the y-axis in a lattice
levelplot()? I have as many ticks displayed on the y-axis as I have
columns of data (1000 columns), how can I decrease this amount of ticks,
while still properly displaying all the data?
Note that I get my data from a matrix object, in which the z-values of
the levelplot are the actual values in the matrix, whereas the

Can you think of a way to produce a levelplot as below and then add a histogram of the z variable to the top margin of the plot that would sit on top of the color key?

forcing levelplot to use relative cuts (ie cuts for each panel)

I'm having trouble producing a levelplot with relative cuts for each
panel (my data has large differences in scales, so I want to use
quantiles for each panel).
My attempts to change the 'at' argument in panel.levelplot function
have not met with success.

levelplot and points
Hi all,
I face the following problem.
I have two variables x,y. I have also calculated the surface z.
When I am drawing the surface with function >levelplot (in library lattice) everything is OK. I have the legend etc ...
Then I am trying to plot x,y on the same graph. So I am doing :
