File transfer corruption (NULL characters)
I've got a couple of Solaris 7 boxes that are running samba 2.2.0. When I try to copy text files from a windows 2000 client to the server, the resulting file is filled with all NULL characters. I tried copying the same file to a NT server's share and there was no corruption. When copying to the solaris share, the windows 2000 client eventually gives the following error: The

Shares stopped working for groups
Hi, I have a ClearOS 7.8 system which is running samba-4.10.4-11.el7_8.x86_64, and it upgraded to this just over a week ago (probably not relevant). A couple of days ago all the group shares failed. I discovered that if I switched them to the built-in group "allusers" the share worked fine. It fails for any user-defined group but it used to work. Samba is running as a PDC and the

Excel 'save as HTML' problem with Samba 2.0
Hello, Eversince I upgraded Samba to 2.0 version I've gotten so many calls from the users regarding Excel 'save as HTML' problem. What seems to be happening is that the users cannot save their Excel spreadsheet as html file when they were able to with the previous Samba version we had installed (Samba 1.9.18p10). According to MS 'knowledge database', this is a known MS Excel

Samba 3.0 Alpha 23 and windbindd
Hi folks, I've been using the samba alpha releases for a bit now. I'm really satisfied and grateful as it really helps out in our infrastructure. I do however experience an issue that is really stumping me. The problem exists in the mapping of winbind GID/UIDs to names. From time to time, the GID will just change. For example, in our environment, the Group JCNTV/Domain Admins is

Newbie clustering/classification question
My laboratory is measuring the abundance of various proteins in the blood from either healthy individuals or from individuals with various diseases. I would like to determine which proteins, if any, have significantly different abundances between the healthy and diseased individuals. Currently, one of my colleagues is performing an ANOVA on each protein with MS Excel. I would like to analyze

Asking for Password
Please forgive me but I am pretty new to Linux. I have Samba set up on a Server and when I go to access it from a windows workstation one, a box pops up with the resourse as \\servername\IPC$ <file://\\servername\IPC$> asking for a password. I have the right domain and my username is the same as my windows password? Why would I be getting these messages? What am I doing wrong?

You have in your smb.conf: unix password sync = Yes This possibly means that you have a group in /etc/group called allusers with the ID of 63000 I would replace the line with: ldap password sync

calling java from R and using java time series double precision array
I haven't had time to try using R for over a year, but have a colleage who wants to. We work with time series and our current version of our calendar-time subroutines in java converts both directions between linear time and calendar. We have used calendar time since year 1965 starting out then with Fortran. Calendar time can be CnYrMoDa | CnYrMoDaHr | CnYrMoDaHrMn | CnYrMoDaHrMnSc |

still ACL bug in 3.0.14a
Sparc Solaris / UFS file system. I have some ACL's set up for a handful of users and its all worked flawlessly with every incarnation of Samba I've used over the past couple years, which would be most. Last Friday evening I upgraded from 3.0.11 to 3.0.13 and some of the users I have some ACL's set up for promptly found Monday that they couldn't save new Excel files, they'd be

Lost setting up IAXmodem after drive crash
A few weeks ago, I lost my Trixbox that was all set up with Hylafax and IAXmodem. I am trying to set it up for email > procmail > faxmail > iaxmodem > asterisk >sipext > ATA (with attached fax). I have followed all the instructions on creating the IAX extension and configuring the IAXmodem config file. I can see the connection in Asterisk: iax2 show peers Name/Username

g711 -> iLBC garbled voice in 1.4?
All, Has anybody else experienced garbled voice between a phone using alaw/ulaw and one using iLBC? I have a Nokia E series phone with a preference to use iLBC and this works fine in Asterisk 1.2. However, since moving to 1.4 - I get garbled voice on Inbound (g711->iLBC). Outbound voice seems fine (iLBC->g711) though. It's not a 20/30ms framing issue as the phone uses 30ms

How to transfer an unanswered call???
Hi list, I'm wondering if it's possible to transfer a call that is still ringing??? Actually, the problem is that my telco provider doesn't offer an uniform method for answer/disconnection supervision, and by that I mean, some of it's line (I think) offer a polarity reversal, but other lines (of the same service provider) do not offer anything at all, so the answer of a call

sshd 3.1 dumps core when client connects -- Solaris 9 gcc 3.1
Team - I'm running Solaris 9 and gcc 3.1 on a Blade 1000, named jefferson. I built OpenSSH_3.3. I can use the client to connect out, but cannot use the client to connect to localhost (nor can I use a Linux box with OpenSSH_3.2.3 to connect to it). I *can* use F-Secure 3.0.0 on a Windoze box to get into it. I've tried configurations both with and without privsep enabled but get the same

Unable to create folders
Hi. I'd like some help trying to troubleshoot a permissions issue on my system if you folks don't mind. I'm sure it's just a small thing - but another pair of eyes may help me locate the issue. My platform is Solaris 10 running on a Sun Fire V440. I'm running Samba 3.0.21RC2 compiled with Sun Studio 11. Here is how it is configured.. --prefix=/usr/local --sysconfdir=/etc
