Multivariate regression method
Hi Folks, Thanks to several people's suggestions and clarifications, I think I have implemented a function which computes the conditional mean and covariance matrix of a subset of the dimensions of an MV-normal variable, given the values on the other dimensions (these conditioning value can be presented as a matrix, to deal with several cases at once). The code is below, for anyone who would

Logic with regexps
Greetings, The following question has come up in an off-list discussion. Is it possible to construct a regular expression 'rex' out of two given regular expressions 'rex1' and 'rex2', such that a character string X matches 'rex' if and only if X matches 'rex1' AND X does not match 'rex2'? The desired end result can be achieved by logically combining

packet loss on ixgbe using vlans and ipv6
Hi, I have a Dell T710 with 4 X 10G ethernet interfaces (2 X Dual port Intel 82599 cards). It is running FreeBSD RELENG_8 last updated on July 13. What I see is packet loss (0 - 40%) on IPv6 packets in vlans, when the machine is not the originator of the packets. Let me try to describe a little more. If a neigbouring machine ping6 it, there will be packet loss. If it act as a router for ipv6,

Salvage or undelete files of damaged ext2/ext3 file systems
Hi! I have made some extensions to debugfs to undelete or recover files from a damaged ext3 file system. Salvage or undelete files of damaged ext2/ext3 file systems debugfs salvage command can be used to salvage files from a damaged ext3 or ext2 file system. The code is alpha, so use at your own risk. the usage is: salvage first-block count-blocks Salvage tries to salvage files found in

still mbuf leak in 9.0 / 9.1?
Hi list, since we activated 10gbe on ixgbe cards + jumbo frames(9k) on 9.0 and now on 9.1 we recognize that after a random period of time, sometimes a week, sometimes only a day, the system doesn't send any packets out. The phenomenon is that you can't login via ssh, nfs and istgt is not operative. Yet you can login on the console and execute commands. A clean shutdown isn't possible

efficiently diff two data frames
Dear all, What is the quickest and most efficient way to diff two data frames, so as to obtain a vector of indices (or logical) for rows/columns that differ in the two data frames? For example, > Xe <- head(mtcars) > Xf <- head(mtcars) > Xf[2:4,3:5] <- 55 > all.equal(Xe, Xf) [1] "Component 3: Mean relative difference: 0.6863118" [2] "Component 4: Mean relative

Subsetting a matrix
I'd welcome some comments or advice regarding the situation described below. The following illustrates what seems to me to be an inconsistency in the behaviour of matrix subsetting: > Z<-matrix(c(1.1,2.1,3.1,1.2,2.2,3.2,1.3,2.3,3.3),nrow=3) > Z [,1] [,2] [,3] [1,] 1.1 1.2 1.3 [2,] 2.1 2.2 2.3 [3,] 3.1 3.2 3.3 > dim(Z) [1] 3 3 >

Asterisk on 64 bit... and testing e164.org's stuff
works, but there are some issues. I've had asterisk up and running on a suse 9.0 beta 7 x86_64 for about two weeks now. I used then-current cvs, and the compile went smoothly with only a dozen complaints about 64 bit casting of pointer types. The good news : Latency is effectively non-existent (especially when compared to the lame c3 itx box I normally use), and asterisk has not crashed

Problem with colors in contour plot
Dear R users, I have a 51 by 51 matrix of p-values (named as pvalue_MA). I want to present graphically this matrix in a plot (filled contour plot) where both axes represent probabilities. I have also added a grid in this plot. I want to highlight in white the cells of the grid that represent p-values smaller than the (common) significance threshold, 0.05. The code from this plot is colored in

I am trying to get 5 p values for the 5 rows i have. I am trying to avoid a for loop coz my

Pattern Matching
We recently had our PRI installed, we currently have 100 toll-free's pointing to it. I have almost everything working great but.. I have setup the first few numbers we want to use coming in from the PRI and they work great, but.. What I want to do is setup an extension with pattern matching to answer for any numbers called that are pointed to our system and PRI but not yet in

survreg 3-way interaction
> I was wondering why survreg (in survival package) can not handle > three-way interactions. I have an AFT ..... You have given us no data to diagnose your problem. What do you mean by "cannot handle" -- does the package print a message "no 3 way interactions", gives wrong answers, your laptop catches on fire when you run it, ....? Also, make sure you read

Systemd and VirtualBox
The continuing challenges of getting a workable server continue. The latest spins of VirtualBox seem to have solved the issues of DKMS auto compiles of the driver being aborted. The yum updates work as expected, provided one stops the running vms manually first. However, trying to get systemd to start the vms is proving to be a PITA. I have extensively googled and found that there are no

matrix correlations with different packages
Dear all, I'm calculating matrix correlations with permutation tests and I got this funny result. All correlation coefficients are the same with mantel.test {ncf} and pcol {simba} but the two functions yield dramatically different p-values (using the same number of permutations). Could anyone please enlighten me what is causing the difference and which result I can trust? (My matrices

Lat Lon NetCDF subset
Hi, I'm trying to read a subset of a netcdf file into R, but although I'm relatively experienced using R, I'm still new to netCDF files, so this may be a very simple/stupid question! I've included an example of the type of file I'm looking at here. www.met.reading.ac.uk/~swp06hg/ccd1983_01-dk1_20.nc (~7Mb) It's a 2D array of the variable CCD along with its lat and

thread taskq / unp_gc() using 100% cpu and stalling unix socket IPC
Hi there We have a pair of servers running FreeBSD 9.1-RC3 that act as transparent layer 7 loadbalancer (relayd) and pop/imap proxy (dovecot). Only one of them is active at a given time, it's a failover setup. From time to time the active one gets in a state in which the 'thread taskq' thread uses up 100% of one cpu on its own, like here: ---- PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZE

Caret train with glmnet give me Error "arguments imply differing number of rows"
Hello, I'm training a set of data with Caret package using an elastic net (glmnet). Most of the time train works ok, but when the data set grows in size I get the following error: Error en { : task 1 failed - "arguments imply differing number of rows: 9, 10" and several warnings like this one: 1: In eval(expr, envir, enclos) : model fit failed for Resample01 My call to train

Calculate NAs from known data: how to?
Hi In a dataset I have length and age for cod. The age, however, is ony given for 40-100% of the fish. What I need to do is to fill inn the NAs in a correct way, so that age has a value for each length. This is to be done for each sample seperately (there are 324 samples), meaning the NAs for sampleno 1 shall be calculated from the known values from sampleno 1. As for example length 55 cm
