latin hypercube sampling
Hi all, I am attempting to use latin hypercube sampling to sample different variable functions in a series of simultaneous differential equations. There is very little code online about lhs or clhs, so from different other help threads I have seen, it seems I need to create a probability density function for each variable function, and then use latin hypercube sampling on this pdf. So far, I

Help with Krige.conv using linear models
A majority of my data makes a kriged map perfectly using an exponential model for the semivariogram to fit my data and then going through the commands variofit() to define the model and then krige.conv() to use the model to predict values in a grid. But?one set of my data appears to be linearly correlated for the first 5000 meters and not correlated beyond that. I have been having problems

trouble switching to 'plm' from 'xtabond' and Stata
Hello, I am switching to R from Stata and I am having particular trouble with the transition from Stata's 'xtabond' and 'ivreg' commands to the "plm" package. I am trying to replicate some of the dynamic panel data work using the UK Employment data in Arellano and Bond (1991) and available as 'EmplUK' under the 'plm' package. I have been

How to set the dimension of a matrix correctly?
Hi all, I use kriging to interpolate the precipitation from stations, but the map of this results show lots of stripes. (please see the attachment)I think there's something wrong with the setting of the dimension of this matrix, however, I have no idea how to know or test to see if this setting is correct or not.I've tried to switch the latitude and longitude, but still got the same

Fixed sill in variogram fitting (geoR)
Dear all, I'm trying to fit a variogram model using variofit function in geoR package. There is an option to fix the nugget but is there anyway to force the variogram sill to equal some defined value? I'm working with standardized longitudinal data so the process variance is 1 and I'd like to force the sill of the variogram to reach this value (and prevent it from going

Ordinary and simple kriging
I'm performing ordinary and simple kriging from a set of non-negative values: >krige.control.sk<-krige.control(type.krige="sk",obj.model=my.variogram.model,beta=my.variogram.model$beta) >sk<-krige.conv(cadiz.geo,data=amostragem.cadiz$dia1.std,locations=as.matrix(cadiz.polygrid[,c(1,2)]),krige=krige.control.sk) krige.conv: model with constant mean krige.conv: Kriging

predicting values from model function
Dear List, I have fitted a spherical function to my variogram using "variofit(...)" from GeoR. Now I would like to predict some data with the function "predict(object,...)" from package stats. Does anyone know wether this works and if it does how to do it? Thanks a lot! Anna

hosts allow/deny not working correctly in 2.0.3 or 2.0.4b
I am having difficult getting the hosts allow/deny to work with IP ranges or netmasks. Ideally I would prefer to use the IP/Netmask method, e.g. 111.22.33.0/255.255.255.0, because we have a flat ATM network with multiple class C's (netmask is really 255.255.252.0). This, however, doesn't work!! I can't do 111.22.33. either... I can't even do specific IP's, e.g. 111.22.33.44

Interface binding ignores my settings in 2.0.6
I have a multi-homed server with interfaces into two VLANs (one Unix and one NT). I need for all Samba traffic to go through the NT VLAN interface (which is not the primary, of course). Under 2.0.5a I was able to do this with the "Interfaces" option by specifying the NT interace first (I did not do the "Bind Interface Only"). However, 2.0.6 seems to ignore this setting which

Memory limitation in GeoR - Windows or R?
Dear Aaron, I am really a tool user and not a tool maker (actually an ecologist doing some biostatistics)... so, I take the liberty of sending a copy of this e-mail to the r-help list where capable computer persons and true statisticians may provide more relevant information and also to Paulo Ribeiro and Peter Diggle, the authors of geoR.. I really feel that your huge matrix cannot be

SMBMOUNT on SGI
I would like to use smbmount on a SGI running IRIX 6.5.1m. The distribution of samba for IRIX does not include the executables smbmount or smbmnt. Is there a source for these executables? Using a vendor's dll library from Linux
Hello, I am interested in using a linux program (EMC) that would need to control a hardware board from a vendor that only provides windows dlls to initialize it and give it commands. I would assume that WINE would make it possible for me to interface with these dlls from linux (even if they call some commom MS Windows dlls themselves). Am I correct? If so, could someone please point me in

Saving MS Word Documents to a Samba Share from NT
I have installed Samba 2.0.4a on SGIs running IRIX 6.5. My PC is running NT Workstation SP 3. I have a problem saving documents from MS Word 97 SP 1. If I create a new document and attempt to save it to a Samba share I get the following error message: Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error. (G:\XX\TEST.DOC). A listing of the directory from Unix shows the following:

calculating variograms (gstat) with large data sets
Dear all, I am aiming to calculate variograms using variogram() from gstat. The problem is that some of my data-sets are very large (> 400000 points). Running the command takes some hours of time and does not give any error-message. Nevertheless the result seem not to be appropriate - the first few bins are ok (up to a distance of about 300) but then it gains lags which are much larger than

geoR size limit problem
Hi all, I tried to produce some kriged surfaces with geoR (latest version). The size of the grid should be around 900 x 650 cells (what I find is not a very big grid), and the number of points is around 2500. The command krige.conv stopped after arround 5 min saying it can not allocate a vector with around 1.5 billion units. Sounds reasonable. Is there a workaround? How would I partition the

help with kriging interpolation
All, I am new to using R and know some basics. I wish to use kriging in R to do the following: given data Y =f(X1,X2,X3,.....,Xn) --1000+ irregular measured data set. I would like to be able to get a single value y given sinle input set (x1,x2,x3,...xn) A google search on this takes me lierally to the same example on involving analysis with soil sampling and I cannot figure out how to

Importing many files
Hello Cracks, we want to import 10 x 365 files containing each 7 variables with 1211 rows. The filenames end with numbers from 1 to 365. We tried a for loop to import using read.table but we couldn't create the r objects within the loop. We want each file in an own r-objekt (matrix). Does anyone know what can be done?
