Strange behaviour when using diff with POSIXt and POSIXlt objects
Dear list,
I´m calculating time differences between series of time stamps and I noticed
something odd:
If I do this...

> time2=strptime("2009 05 31 23 07 00",format="%Y %m %d %H %M")

Time difference of 10 mins

post-hoc comparisons in GAMs (mgcv) with parametric terms
Dear list,
I?m wondering if there is something analogous to the TukeyHSD function
that could be used for parametric terms in a GAM. I?m using the mgcv
package to fit models that have some continuous predictors (modeled as
smooth terms) and a single categorical predictor. I would like to do
post hoc test on the categorical predictor in the models where it is
significant.
Any suggestions?

problems with geom_vline, histograms, scale=free and facets in ggplot
Dear list,
I?m having a little trouble with adding vertical lines to a histogram.
I need to draw a matrix of histograms (using facets), and in each
histogram add a vertical line indicating the mean value of the data in
each facet. According to the last example in the geom_hline help, to
display different lines in each facet I need to provide a data frame.
I modified this example to make a plot

GAM for non-integer proportions
Dear list,
I´m using the mgcv package to model the proportion by weight of certain prey
on the stomach content of a predator. This proportion is the ratio of two
weights (prey weight over stomach weight), and ranges between 0 and 1. The
variance is low when proportion is close to 0 and 1, and higher at
intermediate values.
It seems that the best way to go is to model this using the

ggplot scale_size - is there any way to specify breaks?
Hi,
I am plotting scores for students in a school using a command of the form
qplot(x=Subject, y=Student, data=dataset, geom="point", size=Score)
It lists the Subject factors on the x-axis and the Student factors on the
y-axis - dots proportional to the Score are plotted at the resultant grid.
It works just as I want. However, I want to plot a number of these graphs

help me understand how things work.

ggplot2: font size mismatch for pdf output
Hi
In the following, the graph I see on the screen and the .png output
coincide. However, in the .pdf file, the fonts seem to be scaled
fairly larger, resulting in the label for the top legend disappearing.
Is this an infelicity or bug, or is there something I've missed?
More generally, how do I control the size of fonts used in legends
and axis labels?

geom_edge & color
Hi,
this seems to work (assuming that your problem was the setting of
colours...):
--- snip ---
network %>%
ggraph(., layout = "auto") +
# This produces an error...
# geom_edge_arc(curvature=0.3, aes(width=(E(network)$weight/10),
color=c("darkblue", "red")[as.factor(edge_list$relationship)], alpha=0.5))
+
# ... this works :-)

another question on shapefiles and geom_point in ggplot2
Manuel:
I changed your variable names from x to 'long' and y to 'lat' on the
riqueza_out.csv file.
The code below should do what you want. Also, since the legend title is kind of
long, I broke it
down into three lines so you can see more plot area. I am cc'ing the other
groups so more people
use it if needed.

4 dimensional graphics
Dear all
I want to display 4 dimensional space by some suitable way. I searched
CRAN and found miscellaneous 3 dim graphics packages which I maybe can
modify but anyway I am open to any hint how to efficiently display data
like:
longitude, latitude, height, value
Thank you

Dear community
I am using ggraph to plot a network analysis. See part 2 in the working
example.
Besides different colors for different groups of nodes:
--> geom_node_point(aes(size = V(network)$hub_score*200, color=
as.factor(V(network)$community)))
I additionally want to consider different colors for different edge groups
The grouping is defined in the edge_list$relationship: negative

igraph_vertex
The reason html is specifically advised against as a format is that it
does things like mangling data such as is happening in your example. You
should repost using settings on you mail client for plain-text. Your
code should start by loading necessary packages. You should also not
post screen output versions of code since that will insert lots of
superfluous "+"'s. Some but not

Hi,
a quick additional note: try
"edge.width= E(.)$weight"
instead of the current "edge.width= network". Seems to work and makes a
visible difference...

Vector comparison to matrix
I am looking for a fast way to count the number of rows in a matrix are
identical to a pattern vector. For example, if I am interested in counting
the number of row vectors in a matrix that are identical to (1,2,3) what
would I do? I have tried the identical statement in a loop but this is far
too slow. I have a very large matrix and need to avoid loops at all costs.
Thanks for any help.

Dear all, I am a new user of R. I would like to know how to get fund's returns in percentage (%). For example, I use: R <- ts(read.xls("FundData"), frequency = 12, start = c(1996, 1)) Whith this program, the returns are like 0.0152699. But, I would like to have 1.52%. Please advise me about the function. Thanks! Fabrice
