Rmpi failing to install with all latest MPI packages and config arguments
On FC10 with openmpi and mpich2 installed, the command "R CMD INSTALL
Rmpi_0.5-7.tar.gz --configure-args=--with-mpi=/usr/lib64/openmpi" (or
/usr/lib64/mpich2) fails with the error ''cannot find mpi.h". Doing a
(s)locate indicates no header file labeled as such. Would appreciate
any trailheads.

Switchtower not working due to openssl not found
I''m struggling to get switchtower working, and from other posts about
it I know it has something to do with ruby binding to open ssl. I''m
just not sure what I should recompile/reinstall to get things to work.

I hope you are doing well?
I?m currently using the lm() function from the package stats to fit linear multifactor regressions.
Unfortunately, I didn?t yet find a way to fit linear multifactor regressions with constraint coefficients? I would like the slope coefficients to be all inside an interval, let?s say, between 0 and 1. Further, if possible, the slope coefficients should add up to

Linear Regressions with constraint coefficients
If the slope coefficients sum to a constant, the regressors are
dependent and so a unique solution is impossible (an infinity of
solutions would result). So I think you have something going on that
you don't understand and should consult a local statistician to help
you formulate your problem appropriately.

If I would like to force all my coefficients to be inside an interval, let?s say, between 0 and 1, what kind of starting values are normally recommended for the start argument (e.g. Using a 4 factor model with b1, b2, b3 and b4, I tried

Have you tried web searching on " R constrained linear regression" or
similar. There seemed to be resources related to your issues when I
looked. You might also search on rseek.org . There are apparently
several packages that do regression with constraints, but I don't know
if they fit your situation.

A few weeks back I had tried to install CentOS on my old AMD 5x6x (equiv
to P75 performance) with plans to use it as my firewall and router.
Because there were some problems relating to RPM compile architecture

This is a quadratic programming problem that you can solve using
either a quadratic programming solver with constraints or a general
nonlinear solver with constraints. See

definitions of data.frames vs. matrix vs vectors. I have read many R
tutorials, and looked over ump-teen 'cheat' sheets and have found that
no one has articulated a really good definition of the differences
between 'data.frames', 'matrix', and 'arrays' and even 'factors'. I

[Bridge] Unexpected bridge behavior (Bug? You decide.)
While using the linux bridge module in 2.6.10, the kernel seems to
munge the source IP address of broadcast UDP packets if they come from
"0.0.0.1", and sticks on an address of the linux host.
I humbly submit that re-writing the source address of packets is not
proper behavior for a bridge, even if those source addresses are not
traditionally valid.

Does anyone know if there is a function available which can format any
entered number as words?
eg: ''1234'' would be ''One Thousand Two Hundred and Thirty Four''
In the past, I would have said this is a tall order, but from what I''ve
seen with playing with rails for a short time, I don''t know what to

centos 6.2; mount 6TB OSX formatted FW
Hi all,
Trying to mount an FW800 6TB volumes.
The logs say;
cannot find hfs+ superblock
and
volumes larger then 2TB are not supported yet
Is my case really because of the >2TB volume?

Formatting numbers
I've been trough the R documentation for about half an hour and it's not
clear to me how to do this:
I need to format to character a series of integers from 1 to 1000, and I
like them to look like
"0001" "0002", "0059", "0123" and so on. Padded with zeroes to have four
digits.

Hi all,
Here is something that i still haven''t understood.
When installing PRIO, it creates 3 "classes" with priority level according
to the TOS.
That command line :
# tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: prio
give that result :
