R-crash when loading workspace - Windows
Dear all,
One day when I tried to load an existing workspace (when opening R or by load()), R crashed without any error notification.
The day before I had worked and saved my workspace without any trouble.
At first I though it was a memory problem (workspace reaching 180Mo) or related to a particular script or command, so I start a new workspace. Everything was ok, that script and others

IAX2 client for "eee pc 1000"
What kind of IAX2 client will install/run on EEE PC 1000 (stock Linux software)?
I'll eventually replace this crippled Linux with something better but I don't time to play around with it as most divers and modules are still too new and
not fully available in all distros.

Custom desktop menu entries: weird behavior with menu categories
Hi,
For my client's desktops, I'm usually customizing the various Linux
desktops I'm installing. I'm using custom icon themes (Elementary),
custom system fonts (Droid Sans), and one of the things I also customize
are desktop menu entries.
Here's an example of what I do on a Slackware+Xfce-based desktop, so you
get the idea. Once all applications are installed, I run the

Stack overflow in R 2.10.0 with sub()
Hi R developers:
Congratulations for the new R 2.10.0 version.
It is a huge effort! Thank you for your work and dedication.
I just want to ask how to make this "strip blank" function
to work again (it works on R.2.9.2).
alumnos$AL_NUME_ID<-sub("(^ +)|( +$)","",alumnos$AL_NUME_ID),)
"alumnos" is a data base with 900.000 rows and 72 columns.

I have reviewed all the posts in this thread and I 'think' I know what
is going on and also answers a question I asked.
You have in your smb.conf:
unix password sync = Yes
This possibly means that you have a group in /etc/group called allusers
with the ID of 63000
I would replace the line with:
ldap password sync

Shares stopped working for groups
Hi,
I have a ClearOS 7.8 system which is running
samba-4.10.4-11.el7_8.x86_64, and it upgraded to this just over a week
ago (probably not relevant). A couple of days ago all the group shares
failed. I discovered that if I switched them to the built-in group
"allusers" the share worked fine. It fails for any user-defined group
but it used to work. Samba is running as a PDC and the

Asterisk architecure
Dear all,
I've recently installed Asterisk and am trying to understand where exactly
Asterisk 'fits' in my VOIP architecture. Can/does Asterisk work as a proxy.
I am specifically interested in SIP. Could anyone perhaps point me out to a
diagram with SIP users and Asterisk to better understand how I should set up
my network?
Thank you

But are these drivers anywhere available so that I can use them without

PDC migration: printing trouble.
Hi all,
we've been moving an old Samba 2.2.x PDC install to a Samba 3.0.28 PDC
install. We copied the ntdrivers.tdb and ntprinters.tdb from to old to the new
server. After the migration, everything was just fine, except printing seemed
to be somewhat slower. As more and more user logged on, the machine got really
sluggish and printing took quite long. We figured out we've got bitten
