Help with Reshaping from Wide to Long
I am trying to reshape data that are in the wide format into the long format. The design is a repeated-measures design, which combined 3 levels of shape (circle, square, triangle) with 3 levels of color (Blue, Red, Green), for a total of 9 variables. The wide data look like this (sorry I couldn't get the columns to line up quite right: Subject CircleBlue CircleRed CircleGreen SquareBlue

2 Ethernet cabling question
Two questions that was not always clear for me [sorry for posting to this list :\]: ############################################################################################## Q1) when cabling, is the color order important? like: straight cabling: A side: white-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white-blue, green, white-brown, brown B side: white-orange, orange, white-green, blue,

Sweave xtable

unequal bins in filled.contour
Hello, I am trying to plot SADIE red-blue plots of cluster indicies using filled.contour. I want a plot which only has three bins for the data: <-1.5, -1.5 - 1.5, >1.5, but I am having trouble getting there. example X1 X2 X3 X4 X5 1 -5 -4.5 1.0 4.5 6 2 -3 -2.0 1.2 -1.0 3 3 0 0.0 0.0 -0.5 -1 4 -2 -3.0 1.0 1.5 3 5 -6 -2.0 0.5 3.0 2 example<-as.matrix(example)

adjusting levelplot color scale to data
Hi guys, I have a matrix with values varying from approximately -0.7 to 0.33 that I want to create a heatmap/levelplot with. When I execute the levelplot function for my matrix, I end up getting colors that are adjusted to the max and min rather than around 0. In other words, ideally I would like to have a color ramp that goes from red (negative number), to white (0), to blue (positive);

xtable with conditional formatting using \textcolor
Hello list, I'm doing a table with scores and I want include colors to represent status of an individual. I'm using sweave <<results=tex>>= and xtable but I can't get a result I want. My attemps are #----------------------------------------------------------------------------- # code R da <- data.frame(id=letters[1:5], score=1:5*2) col <- function(x){

Another Plotting Hint - changing fill color for points
Is it possible to change the fill color of a point? For example, the outer color being "Blue" and inner color being "Grey". I've tried changing "col" and "bg", but that does not seem to have the desired effect. Below is another attempt, but the pixel resolution of the points function does not appear to be high enough for this to work:

question in value-based color in image()
Hello, I have a matrix with value varying from -1 to 1. I hope to use scaled color based on its value to produce an image of this matrix. Suppose I hope to label those data in [-1,-0.5] with blue, label those [-0.5,0.8] with light blue (tone is proportional to its value) and label those [0.8,1] with white. How can I use image() and rgb() to achieve this? It would be great if I can have a

Color Question about image function in graphics package
Dear Lists: I had a matrix which has lrt score for my microarray data. I just wonder how to visualize them with score over 20 in particular color such as blue. I cannot understand the color relationship with the value in z matrix. For example, If I see a red color in my image generated by image function. I don't know what is the value of z in that spot. Example: aaa <-

question in value-based color in image()
Hello, I have a matrix A with value varying from -1 to 1. I hope to use scaled color based on its value to produce an image of this matrix. Suppose I hope to label those data in [-1,-0.5] with blue, label those [-0.5,0.8] with light blue (tone is proportional to its value, e.g. rgb(1-tone, 1-tone, 1) where tone=abs(A)/0.5), and label those [0.8,1] with white. How can I use image() and rgb() to

syslinux / pxelinux and color palette.
I'm trying to convert my image so that the colors will remain the same after I do a clear screen. What I would like to make is a palette for gimp which I then could use too convert my images, thus achieving my goal :) I have found a list in which order the colors seems to be arranged. 0 = black 8 = dark grey 1 = dark blue 9 = bright blue 2 = dark green a =

Heatmap Colors
Hello R-Users! I'm using a heatmap to visualize a matrix of values between -1 and 3. How can I set the colors so that white is zero, below zero is blue of increasing intensity towards -1 and above zero is red of increasing intensity towards red? I tried like this (using the marray and gplots packages from bioconductor): mcol <- maPalette(low="blue", mid="white",

improving a bar graph
Hello, Below is the code for a basic bar graph. I was seeking advice regarding the following: (a) For each time period there are values from 16 people. How I can change the colour value so that each person has a different colour, which recurs across each of the three graphs/tie epriods? (b) I have seen much more sophisticated examples using lattice (e.g each person has a separate

text command - how to get a white background to cover grid lines
New to R - rookie question. I'm a mechanical engineer and enjoying using R to make high quality graphs. I've searched. I want to put text notation on graph plot areas and have the text background "box" white to cover over the grid lines. my command so far.... text(15,5200,"Air Flow",cex=.8,col="blue", background="white") # this doesn't

ordering levels
Hello! I would like to know if there is a simple way to reorder levels of a given factor.Let's say that the vector testf<-factor(c("red","red","red","blue","blue","white")) levels(testf) : blue red white should have reordered levels such as levels(testf) : red blue white (this is for presentation purposes) I guess

color palette heatmap
Hi, I'm kinda new of the R world. I need to use the heatmap or heatmap.2 function to plot correlation values. 2 questions: - how can I specify a color palette? (would like to have a transition from blue(-1) to white(0) to red(1)) - how can I use heatmap.2 imposing a specific order (like hclust.order)? I mean, I don't want heatmap.2 to re-cluster/re-order my data but just to plot them
