tableGrob and properties of a cell
Hello there,
could you please help to modify gpar() properties of a cell inside
tableGrob() output.
In the following example I want to have different color for one out of 4 cells
require(gridExtra)
z<-matrix(1:4,2,2)
grid.draw(tableGrob(z))
The only way I found for now how to do it is to do something like this
downViewport(current.vpTree()$children[[1]]$children[[6]]$name)

latex code in R -> convert to pdf
hi,
is it possible to convert latex code to pdf in R (like a latex-program
would do it)?
Is there a package that comes with this capabilities?
My problem is that I want to generate tables automatically -
and I can't use a latex editor at that computer ...
Besides latex ... are there good ways to generate tables in R?
thanks for any suggestions!

help simplifying complex graphic arguments to a function
I'm working on a package to produce graphic displays of 2- and 3-way tables
and need some help/advice on how to simplify the specification of a complex
argument that gives the drawing details for each cell of the table.
Prototypes of two functions, 'tableplot' and 'cellgram' are given below.
The essential idea is that for a given table ('values'), the cells can be

Dovecot strange behaviors on Solaris
Folks -
I've been using Dovecot for some time now, but have only recently upgraded
to 1.0alpha4. I'm struggling to get my configuration right and I'm seeing
some truly bizarre issues.
My Setup: Solaris 2.8 / Thunderbird / Procmail / Dovecot 1.0alpha4
My mail setup is only for me, so Dovecot runs at an odd port and under my
userID. All my mail is in my home directory, which

eth0:01 xxx.xxx.xxx.12
eth0:02 xxx.xxx.xxx.13

But then, there is an error displayed in workspace

more info - NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED opening remote file
Thanks to those who had suggestions on my last post, but none of those seems to have worked. I have narrowed down the problem a bit though, seems users can't write to a share that is not their primary group. For example: Bob's primary group is Bob and secondary group is Sally. Bob can write to the Bob group share but not the Sally group share. Anymore thoughts/suggestions. Thanks

How to visualize paired t-test results?
I would like to know if you have any suggestions how to visualize the
results from a paired t-test (see the example data below). I tried to
produce plots that show the mean and CI's from the original data and the
estimate of the difference between means and the confidence intervals (see
below) from the t-test. I really don't know what would be the best way to

"virsh list --all" is intermittently causing a shutdown client to boot?
Hello,
I have a CentOS 7 client running on a CentOS 7 server. "virsh --version" reports that 3.9.0 is being used.
I'm issuing a "virsh shutdown" command to shutdown the client. I then confirm that the client has actually shutdown using "virsh list --all".
Lately I've been seeing instances where I shutdown the client, turn away to work on something else, and

Question about VarSelRF
Dear list members,
I am analyzing Affymentrix gene expression data and would like to
apply the R package, VarSelRF to identifying small sets of genes that could
be used for diagnostic purpose.
Basically, the data matrix is composed of 22277 rows (genes) and 65 columns
(samples).
I did unsupervised clustering using pvclust to get 4 classes. What I would
like to do is
to get unique genes for each

differences between survival models between STATA and R
Dear Community,
I have been using two types of survival programs to analyse a data set.
The first one is an R function called aftreg. The second one an STATA
function called streg.
Both of them include the same analyisis with a weibull distribution. Yet,
results are very different.
Shouldn't the results be the same?
Kind regards,
J
