savePlot() no longer automatically adds an extension to the filename.
Plaintive squeak: Why the change?
Some OS's and desktops use the extension, so forgetting it causes
trouble. The new default filename keeps a filetype (as before) but the
user now has to type a filetype twice (once as the type, once as
extension) to get the same effect fo rtheir own filenames. And the
extension isn't then checked for consistency with valid file types, so
it can be

Usando R CMD BATCH no me funciona savePlot()
Buenas tardes:
Hasta ahora he utilizado savePlot() en ejecuciones de R en Windows, donde lo
que hago es grabar la ventana de gráficos mediante dev.cur() en formato pdf.
Concretamente éste es el código:
> savePlot(filename = ruta_pdf, type = "pdf", device = dev.cur(),
restoreConsole = TRUE)
Este comando está dentro de un bucle de "n" ejecuciones, por lo que guardo

probleme with savePlot (to eps)
Hi the list,
I used savePlot to export some eps graph but it seems that the graph
file hold a bug. I include the graph.eps in a LaTeX file. Running latex
is ok. But the dvi file contain some mistake, the graph overprint on
some text and hide it. Then, when I try to convert it to another format,
I get :
Ignoring remaining special text following unkown PS operator: "SDict"

Display list redraw incomplete when exporting plots
I was just wondering if anyone knows what could be the problem with my
exporting of plots.
Below is the error messages I get when trying to export my plots (all error
messages at the same time).
I do get a file produced which works but I don't know why these messages
appear. Doesn't matter if it is a pdf or a png or any other format I export
to.
Also, when exporting to png I get

R 2.7.0: pdf() > pdf.options versus formals
Hi,
I have a tiny question about the graphics change in R 2.7.0.
If I write a script ? la:
options(device="pdf")
formals(pdf)[c("file","onefile","width","height")] <- list("~/Rplot
%03d.pdf", FALSE, 8, 8)
plot(3)
plot(4)
both plots will be written into ONE pdf file. (not two as expected)
This worked fine under 2.6.x
In R 2.7.0 I

(no subject)
Dear all,
for an interactive web application i need to produce a lot of graphics (up
to 50) on demand.
In the moment i'm using the png format.
The png()
...using png(file="Rplot%03d.png", ...); 'plots' ; dev.off()...
produces very good graphics. The problem is it takes too long to produce the
png files.
The bitmap()
...using bitmap(file="Rplot%03d.png",

Generating R plots via Ruby CGI
Greetings,
I'm trying to debug a simple two-line plot routine in R called test.R:
cor(swiss)
plot(swiss$Catholic, swiss$Examination)
These commands work fine when typed into R. They also work fine when
I invoke this routine by the following line into my terminal:
R --slave < /Library/WebServer/Documents/gsa/test.R
My ultimate goal is to send data to this R routine via a web

png and resolution (PR#8066)
Full_Name: Knut krueger
Version: 2.1.1
OS: xp Home
Submission from: (NULL) (149.225.134.34)
In the png function the value res seems to be inactive:
bmp(filename = "c:/r/Rplot%03d.bmp", width = 1920, height = 1920, pointsize =
48, bg = "white", res = 2400)
result:
witdh/heigth = 1920 <> 20.32 mm
ppi=2400
Results as expected

High resolution plots
Is there any possibility to get high resolution plots in a windows xp
system?
I tried it with the device function png(filename =
"c:/r/highresplot%d.png",pointsize=12, res=900)
but when I try to set: width = 480, height = 480 or pointsize = 12,
the text is not scaled in the same way as the plots.

R-level expansion of Rplot%03d.png
Dear list,
I'm using the brew package to generate a report containing various
plots. I wrote a function that creates a plot in png and pdf formats,
and outputs a suitable text string to insert the file in the final
document using the asciidoc syntax,
<%
tmp <- 1

Help for R on Windows for non-Win-enabled!
Hi Folks,
I need help with a query about R on Windows, specifically
about graphics devices.
I'm advising someone remotely (so it's all by email) who
is running R on Windows, while I am not (Linux only).
Things have reached the stage where saving graphics plots
as Windows metafiles is looming.
I've been told that the result of "?device" in Windows is

Q: obtaining non-transparent background in png
I am not understanding something about generating PNG plots.
I have tried several ways to obtain something other than a transparent
background, but nothing I've done seems to change the background.
For example:
dev.print(png, width=800, height=600, bg='red', filename='example.png')
which I thought would give a red background, simply gives the same
transparent background I
