Uncorrelated random vectors
Hello, is it possible to create two uncorrelated random vectors for a given distribution. In fact, I would like to have something like the function "rnorm" or "rlogis" with the extra property that they are uncorrelated. Thanks for your help, Luba [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

error: compiling R package
Hello, I tried to build an own R package on Windows XP but get an error which I can't solve. I called my package "pack". It works to creat the file "pack" with package.skeleton(). But when I try to compile it with Rcmd build --binary pack I obtain the following error: IO::Seekable::seek missing at C:/R/R-2.9.0/share/perl/FileHandle.pm line 59. Compilation failed in

lattice package for R 2.0.0
Dear all, I am trying to install packages with the new R 2.0.0. However for several packages, like MASS, lattice or R2HTML, I get an error like: > library(lattice) Error in library(lattice) : 'lattice' is not a valid package -- installed < 2.0.0? > However, I have just downloaded the latest versions from CRAN. As far as lattice is concerned, it seems that the Windows binary is

lattice: histogram of factor variable
Dear all, I am encountering a problem with lattice in the current version 0.14-13 with R version 2.4.0 on a Windows XP system. For example, histogram(~voice.part, singer) is not labeling the x labels according to the factor levels of voice.part, which it should do (and has done in former versions of lattice, as far as I remember). In addition, I get the warnings Warning messages: 1:

re gression trees: mean square vs. absolute errors
Hi, I am working with CART regression now to predict a probability; the response is binary. Could anyone tell me in which cases it is better to use mean square error for splitting nodes and when mean absolute error should be preferred. I am now using the default (MSE) version and I can see that the obtained optimal tree is very different from the tree with the least mean absolute error. Thanks in

comma separated format
Hi All, I'm trying to create labels to plot such that it doesn't show up as scientific notation. So for example how do I get R to show 1e06 as $1,000,000. I was wondering if there was a single function which allows you to do that, the same way that as.Date() allows you to show in date format on a plot. Hi R, In the following code my x-axis is formatted in month format. Which Im happy with. The y-axis is what I want to re-format with something else. If not how do you get the months to show up as FEB-YYYY, MAR-YYYY and so on, so I could fit a label on x-axis. Thanks, Sachin p.s. sorry about corporate

drilling down data on charts
Hey all, Suppose a=b^2 for starters. I want to be able to create a graph that displays a initially and if i was to click on 'a' to show 'b' on the chart itself. Does anyone know if this is possible in R? Also as an extension (not necessary as yet) to output the above into a 'html' file.
