Tinn-R pdf()
Dear R and Tinn-R users, i recently switched to Tinn-R and sending code to R works fine (R 2.8.1, Tinn-R 2.2.0.2, OS Windows XP). However, i encountered a problem when trying to send plots to pdf files like this: library(lattice) pdf("plot1.pdf") PLOT<-(xyplot, ...) PLOT dev.off() The file "plot1.pdf" is created, but it is empty. If i paste the code above directly into

for loop for automatic pdf generation
I know this is not reproducible, but I don't want to clog up mail boxes with the data frame. I would be happy to send this off list. I am sure that I am missing something simple. The plotting works if I just paste the call to qplot into R and replace the [i] with a number. Thanks for all of your help in advance. #loop to spit out PDFs list.names <-

Getting file name from pdf device?
Hi IU would like to modify the dev.off function, so that it automatically compresses the created pdf. I am thinking of doing the following in the modified dev.off: 1) Get the filename of the pdf device 2) close the device by calling the original dev.off() 3) compress the pdf file with a system call of pdftk. My question: how can I get the filename of the pdf from the device before it is closed?

Sweave:Figures from plot (LME output) not getting generated (pdf or eps)
Hi, I seem to be facing a strange problem when I use Sweave for creating a LaTeX document of the R lme() output --- The EPS and PDF figure files get created, but are empty. I have attached a reproducible example below (taken from the R lme() help example). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ \documentclass[a4paper,10pt]{article}

incorrect import?
Dear all, I'm not getting what I'm doing wrong. The line below from my read.fsa.bin function throws an error when just loading my AFLP package and disappears when I load the zoo package as well. #the line that throws the error Index <- which(Peak == rollmax(Peak, k = 1 + 2 * floor((min(diff(SizeStandard)) * Fs - 1) / 2), fill = -Inf)) #the error Error in UseMethod("rollmax")

define subgroups based on position in table
Dear list, I have a data frame with one column (group) and want to add a second column (sub) with a serial number that says to which subgroup a cell belongs. A subgroup contains the consecutive rows of the same group. The number of a subgroup is based on its position in the table. The first subgroup of A's and B's should have nr A1 and B1, the second nr A2 and B2, etc.. I hope the

UTF8 markdown vignette
Dear all, I'm trying to use a Markdown vignette with UTF-8 encoding. It compiles well when knitting the vignette in RStudio, but it fails to recognize the UTF-8 settings when building the source package. Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong? I tried to put the relevant information below. Best regards, Thierry Details: Using 64-bit R 3.1.2 with encoding = "native.enc"

averaging a list of matrices element wise
Dear all, I have a list of n matrices which all have the same dimension (r x s). What would be a fast/elegant way to calculate the element wise average? So result[1, 1] <- mean(c(raw[[1]][1, 1] , raw[[2]][1, 1], raw[[...]][1, 1], raw[[n]][1, 1])) Here is my attempt. #create a dummy dataset n <- 3 r <- 5 s <- 6 raw <- lapply(seq_len(n), function(i){ matrix(rnorm(r * s), ncol =

un run run...
Hi All, I am running an Rscript with a bunch of algorithms that are UNSTABLE under some parameter settings. At a certain point one of them sends error massage and my whole run STOPS! What I would like is to save the error massage in some file or variable and carry on to the next command line without stopping this run... Any help or ideas would be welcome, please, with a concrete example (not

problematic dev.off() after running examples without plots
Dear all, When running R CMD check on our package, we get an error on the examples. Error in grDevices::dev.off() : cannot shut down device 1 (the null device) None of the examples in our package generates plots. grDevices::dev.off() is code added by R CMD check. A workaround is to have at least one example which has some plot. Is there a better solution? We are using R 3.5.1 Best

bug in utils:::format.person
Thierry, thanks for this, this is a bug in utils:::.format_person_as_R_code(). This calls deparse() on the elements of the person object with the default width.cutoff = 60. As your comment exceeds this width, the erroneous formatting is produced. The simplest reproducible example I could come up with was: p <- person(".", comment = c(foo = ".....................",

Uncorrelated random vectors
