Can't see what i did wrong..
with pred.pca<-predict(splits[[i]]$pca,trainingData at samples)[,1:nPCs] dframe<-as.data.frame(cbind(pred.pca,class=isExplosive(trainingData,2))); results[[i]]$classifier<-ksvm(class~.,data=dframe,scaled=T,kernel="polydot",type="C-svc", C=C,kpar=list(degree=degree,scale=scale,offset=offset),prob.model=T) and a degree of 5 i get an error of 0 reported by the ksvm

Getting the C-index for a dataset that was not used to generate the logistic model
Does anyone know how to get the C-index from a logistic model - not using the dataset that was used to train the model, but instead using a fresh dataset on the same model? I have a dataset of 400 points that I've split into two halves, one for training the logistic model, and the other for evaluating it. The structure is as follows: column headers are "got a loan" (dichotomous),

Predicting with a principal component regression model: "non-conformable arguments" error
Hello all, I have generated a principal components regression model using the pcr() function from the PLS package (R version 2.12.0). I am getting a "non-conformable arguments" error when I try to use the predict() function on new data, but only when I try to read in the new data from a separate file. More specifically, when my data looks like this #########training data

randomForest: tuneRF error
Just curious if anyone else has got this error before, and if so, would know what I could do (if anything) to get past it: > mtry <- tuneRF(training, trainingdata$class, ntreeTry = 500, stepFactor = 2, improve = 0.05, trace = TRUE, plot = TRUE, doBest = FALSE) mtry = 13 OOB error = 0.62% Searching left ... mtry = 7 OOB error = 1.38% -1.222222 0.05 Searching right ... mtry = 26

problems with extractPrediction in package caret
Hi list, I´m working on a predictive modeling task using the caret package. I found the best model parameters using the train() and trainControl() command. Now I want to evaluate my model and make predictions on a test dataset. I tried to follow the instructions in the manual and the vignettes but unfortunately I´m getting an error message I can`t figure out. Here is my code: rfControl <-

eliminating constant variables
Hi all, I have a large data set and want to immediately build a 'blind' model without first examining the data. Now it appears in the data there are a lot of fields that are constant or all missing values - which prevents the model from being built. Can someone point me the right direction as to how I can automatically purge my data file of these useless fields. Thanks in advance, pdb

Convert variable to STring
Dear all, I have a variable that I would like also to use it as a string. The reasons is that I want to collect results from different function to one table.. So when I use the  colnames(mymatrix) <-c(function1.function2,function3) the function1, function2, function3 to be "converted" to simple strings so as  colnames(mymatrix)

caret package
Hi all I am using the caret package and having difficulty in obtaining the results using regression, I used the glmnet to model and trying to get the coefficients and the model parameters I am trying to use the extractPrediction to obtain a confusion matrix and it seems to be giving me errors. x<-read.csv("x.csv", header=TRUE); y<-read.csv("y.csv", header=TRUE);

Can't Load Text Files
Hi, I've completely forgotten how to do R, and it seems I can't even load simple files correctly. I have two tab deliminated text files (attached, these were test files of the larger data files I'm trying to work with) that I am trying to load into R so that I can merge them. They were originally excel files but I used "saved as" to reformat to text. I don't know if

Can R fill in missing values?
Hi, I know this can be done in Stata (which is quite messy) but I wanted to know if it can be done in R. So lets say I have a merged data set (I used the merge function by date for the attached two files), where all the missing values are filled with NAs (which is what the all.x=TRUE does). Is there any way to replace those NAs with the value of the latest row that contains a value? For

read complicated file
Dear R experts, I have been given data files in the following configuration and have been puzzling about how to read them in. First I will give a snippet of the beginning of file: Data File: W Para File: GABOR_0.gor v 10.6, Date : 29/10/2007 Time : 13:33 3.00 5.000 Noise SD (deg): 15.000 1 -5.321 -5.321 2 -5.321 -3.991 3 -5.321 -2.661 4 -5.321 -1.330 5 -5.321 0.000 6 -5.321 1.330 7
