Question about ggplot2 and stat_smooth
I'm interested in creating a graphic -like- this: c <- ggplot(mtcars, aes(qsec, wt)) c + geom_point() + stat_smooth(fill="blue", colour="darkblue", size=2, alpha = 0.2) but I need to show 2 sets of bands (with different shading) using 5%, 25%, 75%, 95% limits that I specify and where the heavy blue line is the median. I don't understand how to do this with

Coord_equal in ggplot2
Dear all, I'm plotting some points on a graph where both axes need to have the same scale. See the example below. Coord_equal does that trick but in this case it wastes a lot of space on the y-axis. Setting the limits of the y-axis myself was no avail. Any suggestions to solve this problem? library(ggplot2) ds <- data.frame(x = runif(1000, min = 0, max = 300000), y = runif(1000, min =

bottom legends in ggplot2 ?
Has anyone had success with producing legends to a qplot graph such that the legend is placed on the bottom, under the abcissa rather than to the right hand side ? The following doesn't move the legend: library(ggplot2) qplot(mpg, wt, data=mtcars, colour=cyl, gpar(legend.position="bottom") ) I am using ggplot2_0.8.2. Thanks in advance, Avram

ggplot and xlim/ylim
Hello everyone, I am (happily) using ggplot2 for all my plotting now and I wondered is there is an easy way to specify xlim and ylim somewhere when using the ggplot syntax, as opposed to the qplot syntax. Eg. qplot(data=mtcars,y=wt, x=qsec,xlim=c(0,30)) <-> ggplot(mtcars, aes(y=wt, x=qsec)) + geom_point() + ??? Indeed the ggplot syntax is in general more flexible and powerful and

I updated/reinstalled ggplot2 and the trouble started...
Hi Ian, Per your suggestion, I reinstalled R 2.9.0, then I reinstalled ggplot2 on top. The problem persists. Here's the what happens after the installation: > qplot (carat, price, data = diamonds, alpha = I(1/10)) Warning message: In grid.Call.graphics("L_points", x$x, x$y, x$pch, x$size) : semi-transparency is not supported on this device: reported only once per

Implicit vs explicit printing and the call stack
Hi everyone, I've run into a bit of strange problem with implicit vs explicit printing and the call stack. I've included an example at the bottom of this email. The basic problem is that I have an S3 object with a print method. When the object is implicitly printed (ie. typed directly into the console) the function arguments in the call stack are exploded out to their actual values,

ggplot2: stat_smooth for family=binomial with cbind(Y, N) formula
With ggplot2, I can plot the glm stat_smooth for binomial data when the response is binary or a two-level factor as follows: data("Donner", package="vcdExtra") ggplot(Donner, aes(age, survived)) + geom_point(position = position_jitter(height = 0.02, width = 0)) + stat_smooth(method = "glm", family = binomial, formula = y ~ x, alpha = 0.2, size=2) But how can I

ggplot2/aesthetic plotting advice
Consider the following situation: we have quantified algal concentrations for a variety of species using many samples at each of three years. It seems to make sense to generate a line plot (matplot-like), with each species plotted as a separate line, with the points connected to emphasize the temporal pattern. The problem: lots of overlapping error bars. The question: from both a

Ggplot2: Moving legend, change fill and removal of space between plots when using grid.arrange() possible use of facet_grid?
Hi, # For publications, I am not allowed to repeat the axes. I have tried to remove the axes using: # yaxt="n", but it did not work. I have not understood how to do this in ggplot2. Can you help me? # I also do not want loads of space between the graphs (see below script with Dummy Data). # If I could make it look like the examples on the (nice) examples page: #

ggplot: colours to geom_segments
Just as an exercise I am tying to add colours to a geom_segment command. I can get one colour but not a sequence of colours. Can anyone suggest how I can get the green lines in the plot below to be different colours? I thought I could use a palatte of colours but that did not seem to work. ggplot2: proper use of facet_grid inside a function
Hello Again R Folk: I have found items about this in the archives, but I?m still not getting it right. I want to use ggplot2 with facet_grid inside a function with user specified variables, for instance: p <- ggplot(data, aes_string(x = fac1, y = res)) + facet_grid(. ~ fac2) Where data, fac1, fac2 and res are arguments to the function. I have tried p <- ggplot(data,

Howto fit normal curve into histogram using GGPLOT2
Currently, I am doing it this way. x <- mtcars$mpg h<-hist(x, breaks=10, col="red", xlab="Miles Per Gallon", main="Histogram with Normal Curve") xfit<-seq(min(x),max(x),length=40) yfit<-dnorm(xfit,mean=mean(x),sd=sd(x)) yfit <- yfit*diff(h$mids[1:2])*length(x) lines(xfit, yfit, col="blue", lwd=2) But since, ggplot2 has more appealing

ggplot2 box plot notches
Dear List, I just googled to find out if notched box plots are possible with ggplot2, but couldn't find a answer to it. boxplot() has the option: notch = TRUE, e.g.: boxplot(mpg$hwy, notch=TRUE) My example code (taken from the net) is: require(ggplot2) qplot(class, hwy, fill=factor(year), data=mpg, geom="boxplot", position="dodge")+theme_bw() Thank you for you help!

Model frame when LHS is cbind (PR#14189)
The model frame shows the response and predictors in a data frame with nicely labelled columns: fm <- lm(wt~qsec+log(hp)+sqrt(disp), data=mtcars) model.frame(fm) # ok When the left hand side consists of more than one response, those response variables still look good, inside a matrix: fm <- lm(cbind(qsec,hp,disp)~wt, data=mtcars) model.frame(fm)[[1]] # ok A problem arises when

multiple pages with ggplot2 facet_wrap?
I currently use lattice functions to produce multiple pages of plots using the "layout" argument to specify the number of rows and columns of panels, e.g., xyplot(price ~ carat | clarity, diamonds, layout = c(2, 2)) This results in 2 pages of 4 panels each. "diamonds" is a data.frame distributed with ggplot2. I would like to do the same with ggplot2 but have been

png with ggplot on windows xp
Hi Group, I posted this question on the ggplot list and was advised to try here also. The code below produces a plot as a png and pdf. The pdf looks great, and I cannot make the png look this way. I've tried various combinations of height, width, and dpi, but it has not worked out so far. Any suggestions to make the png look like the pdf? I received a response that the problem does not occur
