Reshaping Data
Hi,
i did a mistake with my first post.
I have to reshape data from this matrix:

Data frame "pivoting"
Dear R experts,
I am trying to solve this problem, related to the possibility of
changing the shape of a data frame using a "pivoting-like" function.
I have a dataframe df of observations as follows:

A1 2007 P2 V2
A1 2007 P3 V3
A1 2008 P1 V10
A1 2008 P2 V20
A2 2007 P5 V50
A2 2008 P6 V20

Incorrect behavior for ordering timepoints in "reshape" (PR#7669)
Full_Name: Dav Clark
Version: 2.0.1
OS: OS X 10.3
Submission from: (NULL) (128.122.87.35)
When the timepoints that reshape uses (in direction="long") are negative or
fractional, the time label is assigned incorrectly. It is easier to give an
example than to describe the problem abstractly:
Assume you have a data.frame header with values related to peri-stimulus time

can I get same results using lme and gls?
Hi All
I was wondering how to get the same results with gls and lme. In my lme, the
design matrix for the random effects is (should be) a identity matrix and
therefore G should add up with R to produce the R matrix that gls would report
(V=ZGZ'+R). Added complexity is that I have 3 levels, so I have R, G and say H
(V=WHW'+ZGZ'+R). The lme is giving me the correct results, I am

Reshape package: Casting data to form a grid
Dear R Users,
I'm trying to use the 'cast' function in the 'reshape' package to convert column-format data to gridded-format data. A sample of my dataset is as follows:

Latitude Longitude Temperature OrigLat p-value Blaney
1 -90 -38.75 NA -87.75 17.10167 NA
2 -90 135.75 NA -87.75 17.10167 NA

Assigning values based on a separate reference (lookup) table
Dear R Users,
I have a data frame of 360 rows by 720 columns (259200 values). For each value in this grid I am hoping to apply an equation to, to generate a new grid. One of the parts of the equation (called 'p') relies on reading from a separate reference table. This is Table 4 at: http://www.fao.org/docrep/s2022e/s2022e07.htm#3.1.3%20blaney%20criddle%20method (scroll down a little).

Problem with sample()
Hi,
I'm having a problem using sample() within a function.
Basically I get an error reading:
Error in sample(v, 1, prob = h) : non-positive probability
Can anyone advise me as to the possible origin of this error?
Here is my code

For Subset or Reshaping the Table
Hi R users
I am a new user in the field of R.
I want to subset or reshape a data.frame.
For example I have a matrix like
A B C D E F G
a 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
b 4 6 8 9 5 5 6
c 3 4 4 4 3 3 6
d 1 2 4 6 8 8 9
e 5 6 7 8 9 2 3
I want to reshape the matrix in this format
Row Col Value
a D 4
a E 5
a F 6

Reshaping a data frame with a series of factors and 23 repeated measures
I have a data frame that I created using read.table on a csv spreadsheet.
The data look like the following:
Steer.ID stocker.trt Finish.trt Date Days Wt ......
Steer.Id, stocker.trt, Finish.trt are factors------ Date, Days, Wt are data
that are repeated 23 times (wide format).
I want to reshape the data such that I have the correct Steer.ID,
stocker.trt, Finish.trt identifying all of

Issues reshaping data
Hello All,
I'm having some trouble reshaping my data from wide to long format. I have
tried using both the reshape function and package. Although I haven't worked
much with the reshape function, I have found the reshape package useful and
intuitive for reshaping data from long to wide format. However, going the
other way has me stumped with this type of data. My data is set up, roughly,

help with handling replicates before reshaping data
Dear list,
I have a dataset consists of duplicated sequences within day for each patient (see below data) and I want to reshape the data with patient as time variable. However the reshape function only takes the first sequence of the replicates and ignores the second. How can I 1) average the duplicates and 2) give the duplicated sequences unique names before reshaping the data ?

I have some data in the following shape:

Trouble reshaping some data
I would appreciate some advice on the following task. I have
some data that currently looks like this:
t1 <- data.frame(id=c(1,1,2,2),
aspect=c("A","B","A","B"), score=c(10,9,11,12))
I'd like it to look like this:
id A B
1 10 9
2 11 12
reshape() looks like a good candidate for this job but I'm
not really sure about the roles of

I have a data frame that looks *sort of* like this:

length.signal.1 <- 5:9
intensity.signal.1 <- 3:7
signal.2 <- c("13", "noise", "19.2", "X", "V")
length.signal.2 <- 2:6

sprintf error: "only 100 arguments allowed"
I'm trying to apply a function defined in the VW R docs, that attemps to
convert a data.table object to Vowpal Wabbit format. In the process i'm
getting the error in printf mentioned in the subject.
The original function is here:

Below there is a small example that reproduces the error. The function
