Importing multiple worksheets from one Excle/ csv file into R
Dear R experts, I am trying to import some data from some Excle files into R. My Excle file contains about 50 sheets. One solution I can think about is to convert my Excle file into csv file first and then load data into R using 'read.csv'. But it seems to me that 'read.csv' only supports reading one sheet (or 'one file') each time, so that seems I have to create 50 csv

Re ading Excel 5.0 files with RODBC?
Hi, i'm trying to read some data from excel files but it seems that neither xlsReadWrite nor sqlFetch (RODBC) doesn't like the format (Excel 5.0). When i open the file in Excel and save it in a new format Excel 97 -2003 everything works fine. Is it possible to use ODBC connection to open old format files, or i guess i will have to open and save every file in Excel in new format, which

Problem with RODBC
I have been trying to read some data from an Excel workbook without success. The workbook is in .xls format and has multiple sheets, one with the sheet name Data, which is the sheet I wish to read from. One complication is that the header row of this sheet is comprised of dropdown boxes. I tried what I normally would do plus some variations. Here is the output. > require(RODBC) >

RODBC: problem saving a new table in an "Excel database"
Hi I am using package RODBC version 1.0-1 under R version 1.7.1 on Windows XP Pro. I am having problems writing a new table to an (Excel) database using sqlSave. I connect to an empty Excel spreadsheet using odbcConnectExcel (which, I believe, uses the Microsoft Excel Driver DSN). Then I try and save a new table to the database(spreadsheet) using SqlSave, but obtain an error message. Below is

RODBC, Excel, and data truncation when writing
Hi, I am hoping to use the RODBC package to write a dataframe to an Excel .xlsx file. The dataframe contains at least one field with character elements that exceed 255 bytes, which appears to be the cell width limit in Excel. Below is example code and the warning message received: library(RODBC) d <-

Reading numeric data in Excel as character data in R using RODBC
The Excel 'database' I am pulling from mixes multiple character indicators for different kinds of non-numeric results in the same column as the numeric values. A simple sqlFetch turns all of the character indicators into NAs. I would like to pull in all of the Excel data as character so that I can split the column into multiple types of vectors and control the type conversion within R. Can

Writing Excel (.xls) files on non-Windows OSs using Perl
Hi all, There have been quite a few threads in the recent months pertaining to the ability to directly write native Excel (.xls) files from R. For example, exporting R matrices and/or data frames to an Excel file, with perhaps the ability to create multiple tabs (worksheets) within a single file, with one tab/sheet per R object. There exists the xlsReadWrite package on CRAN by Hans-Peter Suter,

Excel-Export
Dear all, i use the following package/syntax to export data to excel: library(xlsReadWrite) write.xls( exportdata, pfad, colNames = TRUE,sheet = 1,from = 1,rowNames = FALSE ) Everything is fine, but the format of the export is not the best. export tables to Excel files
Dear R users, I've just posted a similar question about Illustrator. This time I would like to export the results of my statistic tables and my dataframes into Excel files. Up to now I've used write.csv(), but I have to resave every file in .xls in Excel. I would like to know if there is a function or package to export directly into *.xls. I have found xlsReadWrite which would be
