Survival statistics--displaying multiple plots
Hello all!
I am once again analyzing patient survival data with chronic liver disease.
The severity of the liver disease is given by a number which is continuously
variable. I have referred to this number as "meld"--model for end stage
liver disease--which is the result of a mathematical calculation on
underlying laboratory values. So, for example, I can generate a Kaplan-Meier
plot

Display find(:include => [:children]) results in a view
I am trying to determine how to display a list returned from a Rails
find(:include => [:children]). I am using the following (which works in the
console):
@patients = Account.find(session[:account_id]).patients.find(:all, :include
=> [:patient_details])
How can I address the patient_details to display them in the view? The
console even shows a @patient_details instance variable

BUG: confusion between next-server and gateway
Hello,
I'am trying to efi-netboot a HP ProLiant DL120 Gen9[1], that has
multiple NICs, one embedded 2-port and an extra 4-port, so I got to the
HP/EFI/multinic problem.
I read through the multinic mailthreads and using current master[2], it
booted successfully to syslinux but then another problem manifested:
Syslinux for some reason asks the gateway and not next-server about

Matching patients
May I ask a clinical question? For a trial, we have a treatment group of small
size, say 30 patients. We want to selectmatching control patients from a bigger
group (100 patients) in terms of several clinical variables, such as age, tumor
stage etc. This practice is to select the closest matching set of control cases.
I wonder if R has any routine or package that can help with this problem.

all duplicated wanted
Hi,
Has anyone been able to figure out how to print all duplicated observations?
I have a dataset, with patients ID, and other lab records.
Some patients have multiple lab records, but 'duplicated' ID will only show me the duplicates, not the original observation.
How can I print both the original one and the duplicates?
Thanks

barplot x-axis problem
Hi R-users,
I'm new to R and I'm trying to make a barplot combined with two lines
(refering to secondary y-axis). Bars should represent the number of
transfused patients by age class and sex and lines should represent
the amount of blood units given in age classes. I have now successfully made
a barplot and used par(new=TRUE) to plot another empty graph at the top of
the barplot.

Fitting and plotting a coxph with survfit, package(surv)
Hi Dear R-users
I have a database with 18000 observations and 20 variables. I am running
cox regression on five variables and trying to use survfit to plot the
survival based on a specific variable without success.
Lets say I have the following coxph:
>library(survival)
>fit <- coxph(Surv(futime, fustat) ~ age + rx, data = ovarian)
>fit

ANOVA
Hi All,
I have about one hundred patients and all the patients had their glucose
measured on three different days. The days are all the same for all he
patients. So I have three measurement for each patient . I want to know
whether the day when the glucose was measured has an effect on the
measurements. I was thinking to use a single factor analysis of variance but
I am not sure how to do it in

Repeated Measures design using lme
Hi,
I have what I believe is a repeated-measures dataset that I'm trying to analyze using lme(). This is *not* homework, but an exercise in my trying to self-teach myself repeated-measure ANOVA for other *real* datasets that I have and that are extremely similar to the following design.
I'm fairly sure the dataset described below would work with lme() -- but it'd be great if anybody

I'm not sure to know the good syntax.

I would like to do a new matrix with patients older than a value and the new

getting data into correct format for summarizing ... reshape, aggregate, or...
I would like to reformat this data frame into something that I can
produce some descriptive statistics. I have been playing around with
the reshape package and maybe this is not the best way to proceed. I
would like to use RiverMile and constituent as the grouping variables
to get the summary statistics:

Centring variables in Cox Proportional Hazards Model
Dear All,
I am contemplating centering the covariates in my Cox model to reduce
multicollinearity between the predictors and the interaction term and
to render a more meaningful interpretation of the regression
coefficient. Suppose I have two indicator variables, x1 and x2 which
represent age categories (x1 is patients less than 16 while x2 is for
patients older than 65). If I use the following
