Conectividad con Excel
Hola amigos, buenos días Esto sigue avanzando.

Steepest Ascent Algorithm
I am trying to code a steepest ascent algorithm to optimize parameters used in a survivor function type problem. My unknown parameters (alpha, Beta0, and Beta1) for which I have been able to optimize using Newton's method. I keep getting an error because my alpha becomes negative and I can't calculate the likelihood. Here is my log likelihood I am optimizing (in LaTex): l=\sum _{ i=1 }^{

[LLVMdev] generating ELF files on non-ELF platforms with MC
The existence of tools like Wine, LBW and several MachO loaders on Linux is a good indication that at least in most cases, it's possible to run code packaged in some container format on a system favoring another container. In the worst case, the dynamic loader may explicitly choke on some special features, but empirically it seems that most code can run without problems (we successfully

how to use the EV AND condEV from BMA's results?
Dear friends, In R, the help of "bic.glm" tells the difference between postmean(the posterior mean of each coefficient from model averaging) and condpostmean(the posterior mean of each coefficient conditional on the variable being included in the model), But it's still unclear about the results explanations, and the artile of Rnews in 2005 on BMA still don't give more detail on

3 dimensional MDS plots
Hi, I am trying to create 3 mds plots: one with axis 1 vs axis 2, one with axis 2 vs axis 3, and one with axis 1 vs axis 3. When inputting my code, I only end up with one diagram and when inputting mdsg.mds$dims, the program returns 2 for 2 dimensions. How can I create the other two plots? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Calla Carbone The table I use is number of each taxa on each

[LLVMdev] generating ELF files on non-ELF platforms with MC

Re : Seperate timestamp data into date and time
Dear R list, I am reading in text file data prepared in Access database by someone. One of the field contains timestamp data, how can I separate the timestamp data into two varaibles: date and time. Can I specify the field is in timestamp format when I first reading in ? My reading in data are as below: 449 LWT 22/10/2003 15:43:00 441 143 449 LWT 17/11/2003 15:25:00 421 169 449 LWT

Logistic regression: At times correlation matrix of coefficients gets messed up
Hi, When I include a categorical variable (RACE with 3 levels - "white", "black" and "other") in my logistic regression model, the correlation matrix of the coefficients gets messed up. I get something like: ----------------------------------------- Correlation of Coefficients: ( A L RACEb AGE , 1 LWT , 1 RACEblack 1

Help with function writing
Hello all I have what seems like a simple question but have not been able to find an answer on the forum. I'm trying to define a function which involves regression models and a large number of covariates. I would like the function to accept any number of covariates and, ideally, I would like to be able to enter the covariates in a group (e.g. as a list) rather than individually. Is there any

[PATCH 0 of 4] Support for VM generation ID save/restore and migrate
This patch series adds support for preservation of the VM generation ID buffer address in xenstore across save/restore and migrate, and also code to increment the value in all cases except for migration. Patch 1 modifies the guest ro and rw node creation to an open coding style and cleans up some extraneous node creation. Patch 2 modifies creation of the hvmloader key in xenstore and adds

ROXML from_xml not returning an object instance...
Hello, I have two ActiveRecord classes. One is Route the other is Waypoints. I have constructed an XML representation so I can use AJAX to create a Route with all waypoints in a single create call to RouteController. When I call Route.from_xml(xmlString) it is not returning an object - it''s leaving the object (@route) nil, but not erroring. Any ideas? Here''s some code:

How to formulate an (effect-modifying) interaction with matching variable in a conditional logistic regression?
Hi, I would like to see if a matching variable is an effect-modifier in a conditional logistic regression. Naturally, the matching variable can't enter directly in the model but as an interaction with terms that are in. However, I have problems in formulating the correct model the term that's already in the model is a factor. I am using treatment contrasts and the problem is that if I

help on sigmoid curve fitting
Hi list, I was wondering how I should go about fitting a sigmoid curve to a dataset. More specifically how I estimate parameters a and b in the following equation: 1 / 1+exp(-(x-a)*b) with b the steepness of the sigmoid curve and a the shift of the center of the sigmoid curve relative to the center of your dataframe. The fit is in function of x, the location within the input vector and y, an
