lattice: how to get 'lattice.theme'
I'm using lattice 0.14. As of version 0.5 the Changes says there is a global list called 'lattice.theme'. How can I access this? I have tried many ways, including options(lattice.theme) lattice.getOption("lattice.theme") get("lattice.theme", envir = .LatticeEnv) getFromNamespace("lattice.theme", "lattice")

getAnywhere
Hi List, I am trying to look up an object using getAnywhere, where the object I am looking for is given by the _value_ of the variable I am looking for. Since getAnywhere calls substitue on its argument it is looking for an object with the name of the argument not its value. Is there a way to work around this, or do I have to make my own getAnywhere without the substitute? This is an example to

getAnywhere and functions starting with "." (PR#7684)
Full_Name: Mark Bravington Version: 2.0.1 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (140.79.22.104) 'getAnywhere' crashes when its argument starts with a period: > getAnywhere( '.onLoad') Error in exists(x, envir, mode, inherits) : invalid first argument One fix might be to replace the line if ( !is.null(f <- getS3method(gen, cl, TRUE))) { with if ( nchar( gen)

getAnywhere
Shouldn't this work? > .a <- 5 > exists(".a") [1] TRUE > getAnywhere(".a") Error in exists(x, envir, mode, inherits) : invalid first argument getAnywhere doesn't seem to like the "." prefix. Is this a bug? Thanks, Robert Robert McGehee Geode Capital Management, LLC 53 State Street, 5th Floor | Boston, MA | 02109 Tel: 617/392-8396

More problems with lattice and postscript
Dear List members, I am trying to produce some trellis graphics and to save them in a postscript file but I only get blank files. R behaviour is certainly strange because I use a loop to generate the graphics (see code below). When I change the loop variable myself the postscript graphics are OK. I am using R 1.9.1 (2004-06-21) on Debian GNU/Linux which I try to keep updated on a daily basis. I

plm: Hausman Test error
Hi, I am trying to run a panel regression using 88 observations and 9 variables. In-built Hausman Test did not work, then I found a code for auxiliary regression method for the Hausman test. The panel models are: fe=plm(gd ~ l+g+o+c+g1+h+n+r, model = "within", data = new.frame,index = c("id")) re=plm(gd ~ l+g+o+c+g1+h+n+r, model = "random", data = new.frame,index =

getAnyhwhere behavior
I would have expected the function getAnywhere to have behaved differently in the following: > search() [1] ".GlobalEnv" "file:C:/R/Rdata/miya/.Rdata" [3] "package:boot" "package:methods" [5] "package:ctest" "package:mva" [7] "package:modreg"

crossprod(): g77 versus gfortran
Hi I've got two builds of R, one using g77 (version 3.4.6) and the other using gfortran (version 4.1.2). The two builds are otherwise identical as far as I can tell. The one which used g77 performs crossprod()s roughly twice as fast as the gfortran one. I'm wondering if this rings a bell with anyone, and if so, are you aware of any configure settings which will improve the performance

correlation structure in lme without random effect
I was hoping to fit along the lines of g<-gl(20,5) y<-runif(100) fit<-lme(fixed=y~g,correlation=corAR1(0,~1|g)) But I get the error "Incompatible formulas for groups in "random" and "correlation"" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ben

OpenBLAS in everyday R?
I didn't do the compile; is there a way to check whether that was used? If not, I'll inquire with our sysadmin and report back. In any case, my suggestion was motivated by the fact that some parts of R use OpenMP while others do not, in the hope that the former could have their OpenBLAS omelet without breaking the OpenMP eggs, so to speak. Error in close.connection(p) : ignoring SIGPIPE signal
Andreas, How right you are! Still, I find it curious that in the context of the while(TRUE) loop, I am allowed to do this 653 times, with failure on the 654th attempt. Perhaps there is something asynchronous going on? If I eliminate the looping, it does indeed fail (as expected) on the first attempt to close the pipe. I ran into some very irritating behaviour I don't understand.
