Retrieving data from a tcl /tk function
Hello, I am sorry if this is an answered question, but I did my homework for a long while and couldn't figure out a way to retrieve data entry from a model dialog. In one of the examples compiled by James Wettenhall: odalDialog <- function(title, question, entryInit, entryWidth = 20, returnValOnCancel = "ID_CANCEL") { dlg <- tktoplevel() tkwm.deiconify(dlg)

stuck tcltk scrollbars under Windows XP
Dear R-devel list members, I've encountered a problem with my Rcmdr package under Windows XP and could use some advice: The Rcmdr package uses the tcltk package to create menus and dialog boxes. My standard procedure when a dialog is created is to grab the focus -- e.g., by tkfocus(top) tkgrab(top) (Here, top is a top-level window -- say, containing one or more scrollbars.)

Problem with geometry manager in TclTK
Hello, everyone. I have the following problem with TclTk: I create some windows and want to change their position with geometry manage (sometimes they will be centered, sometimes not). If the toplevel is created and its dimensions are gathered via 'tkwinfo', I get (usually) correct values. However, if this window is created by a function (in the following example, by 'ask.format')

tcltk error when calling a dialog
Hello; I've got several radiobuttons in tcltk with the following sintaxis: tk2.rd <- /tkradiobutton(/frame4,command=plotDialog1,text="New Q plot", value=2, variable=OUTPLOTtclVar/)/ All the buttons call the same function "plotDialog1". With the objective of call a dialog to select some plotting options. When I select one of the radiobuttons and the windows with the

tcltk freezing using MS Windows for R-2.14+
I am the maintainer of a Bioconductor package (affylmGUI) which uses tcltk. It freezes inconsistently on MS Windows, but not Mac or Unix. see details below. After considerable testing I have reduced the problem from a few thousand lines of code to 30 lines! If you paste the following lines of code into an R window: testGUI <- function(){ require(tcltk) MainWindow <-

tk + browser() can leave R unresponsive
I don't know if this is a bug. I can reproduce the following on Ubuntu 12.04.2 and 13.04 64-bit with R version 3.0.1 and with r63479. There is no difference if R is patched with the fix for PR#15407 or not, although without the fix there are more ways to trigger this. I can reproduce with the following: 1. Open R in gnome-terminal or xterm 2. Run 'library(tcltk)' 3. Run

tcltk, X11 protocol error: Bug?
Hi, I am having trouble debugging this one. The code is attached below, but it seems to be a problem at the C-tk interface. If I run this 1 time there are no problems if I run it more than once I start to get warnings that increase in multiples of 11 everytime I run it. Here is a sample session > source("clrramp2.r") Loading required package: tcltk Loading Tcl/Tk interface ... done

problem with fix() called from Rcmdr
Dear list members, I and my students have encountered an intermittent problem using the Rcmdr package (version 0.9-0) under Windows (with the SDI). The problem occurs both in versions 1.7.1 and 1.8.0 of R. The problem seems to occur only in the following context: The "Edit data set" button is pressed in the Rcmdr GUI. This executes the fix() function on the active data frame,

tcl tk command function with arguments ??
Hello, I am using R 2.11.1 under Windows XP. I would like to know if its possible to use a function with arguments as a command in tcl tk. For example require(tcltk) PressedOK <- function() { tkmessageBox(message="You pressed OK!") } tt <- tktoplevel() OK.but <- tkbutton(tt,text="OK",command=PressedOK) tkgrid(OK.but) tkfocus(tt) the function PressedOK has no

paradox about the degree of freedom in a logistic regression model
Dear all: "predict.glm" provides an example to perform logistic regression when the response variable is a tow-columned matrix. I find some paradox about the degree of freedom . > summary(budworm.lg) Call: glm(formula = SF ~ sex * ldose, family = binomial) Deviance Residuals: Min 1Q Median 3Q Max -1.39849 -0.32094 -0.07592 0.38220 1.10375

tclServiceMode: stop Tcl/Tk from updating
In Windows, Tcl/Tk programs running under the tcltk package can update too frequently: for exmaple, we might go through a long sequence of operations to construct a complex display, and in Windows each addition will be shown separately. To work around this, I've added a function "tclServiceMode" which serves as an R interface to the "Tcl_SetServiceMode" function in the

initial value in ComboBox tkwidget
Hello, I took me very long to find out how to set the initial value in the combobox widget in tk (see the example below). My question is now : Why does "textvariable" has to be a tclVar while "values" can be a normal vector? My next question is: How could I have known this much earlier? Is there a documentation for the tcl/tk usage in R? I know a lot of website with example.

Refreshing the GUI and packing images

Bug when importing datas with tcltk window (PR#13191)
Full_Name: PREUSS Bastien Version: R version 2.6.2 (2008-02-08) OS: mingw32 Submission from: (NULL) (193.51.249.166) Hello, I wrote a small function using tcltk to import my datasets. When I use it, both the tcltk and the R windows closed themselves. I don't understand why. What is surprising is that it doesn?t happen each time. Most of the time I can't finish the importation of my 3

R CMD INSTALL warnings with conflicting imports
Hi! This is an issue we encountered when trying to move the Rcmdr package from the Depends to the Imports field for RcmrPlugin.* plug-in packages. Rcmdr overrides a few functions from the tcltk package for convenience. With the current approach, both Rcmdr and tcltk are in the Depends field, and no warning is printed. When moving them to Imports, and adding an import(tcltk, Rcmdr) directive to

tcl/tk return problem
Hello, I'm very new in working with tcl/tk in R and have a problem which will probably sound silly to most of you. Here is the code I have problems with: readcelfiles <- function() { require(tcltk) tt <- tktoplevel() tkgrid(tklabel(tt,text="Choose a directory!")) OnOK <- function() { fileDir<-tclvalue(tkchooseDirectory()) data.raw <-

tk mouse cursor icon widget tkwinfo tkfocus questions
1. I want to change the mouse cursor over my window into a wait/watch icon while R computes. Can this be done directly? Some ancient tcltk mailing lists said change the cursor over every widget in the window: foreach widget [winfo children $window] { $widget config -cursor watch } To do this I'll need a list of
