Dear R gurus,
I am trying perform what I believe will be a pretty simple task, but I'm struggling to figure out how to do it. I have two vectors of the same length, the first is numeric and the second is factor. I understand that tapply is perfect for applying a function to the numeric vector by subsets of the factors in the second vector. My issue is trying to make use of two other vectors

DEV2bitmap: jpeg with res=400 not enough for CORELDRAW poster A0
Dear all,
When saving a plot with the dev2bitmap command:
name <- c("test.jpeg")
dev2bitmap(name,type="jpeg",height=8,width=13,res=400)
Everything seems to be ok... After importing this picture in CORELDRAW (for
a poster A0) format the resolution and colors are not optimal.
How can I save pictures (colors/resolution) optimally for import into

Imputing missing values using "LSmeans" (i.e., population marginal means) - advice in R?
Hi folks,
I have a dataset that consists of counts over a ~30 year period at multiple (>200) sites. Only one count is conducted at each site in each year; however, not all sites are surveyed in all years. I need to impute the missing values because I need an estimate of the total population size (i.e., sum of counts across all sites) in each year as input to another model.

how do I get the IP address of form poster?
How can I capture the IP address of a user who is posting my sign-in or
login forms? I want to store it as part of my user information so that
if I want to block the user in the future, I can also block the IP
address they used to sign in.

Has anyone used Sweave with the Beamer poster macro for Latex ?
Hello,
I'm trying to make a poster in Latex using the beamer poster macro
(http://www-i6.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/~dreuw/latexbeamerposter.php),
and use Sweave to add in R output.
This works fine for adding graphics and tables, but if I want to put
code in, the file fails to build in Latex.
My Rnw file looks like

Hi, there,
I cannot get accurate value for calculation.
for example:
ld<-sqrt(1*0.05*0.95*0.05*0.95)
0.05*0.95-ld=-6.938894e-18
0.05*0.95-ld==0 is False.
I met this problem in my program, how can I handle it. Thanks.

Recode function car package erases previous values
Hi all,
I am attempting to create a new variable based on values of other variables. The variable is called pharm. It basically takes the numeric code of 1 as yes and 0 to be No from the variable B20_C1 (a question on a survey). However, I would also like to have a level for non-respondents and these are captured in the variable nr.B20C, which is a 1 when there is a non-response on the whole group

I am working with some social network analysis in R and ran into a problem I
just cannot solve.
Each observation in my data consists of a respondent, some characteristics

simple question with table()
Dear List,
my problem should be easy to fix, but I couldn't find a solution by
myself...
In my survey, there is a question with 14 possible answers. None of
the respondents choose the 13th answer, so when I table() the results,
