Finding non disjoint regular expressions
Hello, Is there any way I can use the gregexpr functions (or a different function) in a manner that will also return overlapping (i.e. non disjoint) regular expressions? For instance, when running gregexpr("AAA","AAAAAA"), I get two matches, one at position 1 and one at position 4. I'd like to receive 4 matches at positions 1, 2, 3 and 4. Thanks, Schraga

Installing one channel GUI
Hello, I'm trying to install oneChannelGui on my computer. For this purpose, I've tried to carefully follow the manual, and done the following: 1. I've installed the Affy power tools 2. I've installed TCL from http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActiveTcl/ (by following the link at the right side of the page, and installing activeTCL8.5.0.0) Nonetheless, when I try running

Memory usage in read.csv()
I'm sure this has gotten some attention before, but I have two CSV files generated from vmstat and free that are roughly 6-8 Mb (about 80,000 lines) each. When I try to use read.csv(), R allocates all available memory (about 4.9 Gb) when loading the files, which is over 300 times the size of the raw data. Here are the scripts used to generate the CSV files as well as the R code: Scripts (run

summarizing a complex dataframe
I need some help summarizing complex data frames (small example below): m1_1 m2_1 m3_1 m1_2 m2_2 m3_2 i1 1 1 1 2 2 2 i1 2 1 1 2 2 2 i2 2 2 1 2 2 2 For an arbitrary number of columns (say m1 ?. m199) where the column names have variable patterns, and such that each set of columns is repeated (with potentially unique data) an

conditionally merging adjacent rows in a data frame
Hi, I have a data frame and want to merge adjacent rows if some condition is met. There's an obvious solution using a loop but it is prohibitively slow because my data frame is large. Creating binary variable depending on strings of two dataframes
Hi, consider the following two dataframes: x1=c("232","3454","3455","342","13") x2=c("1","1","1","0","0") data1=data.frame(x1,x2) y1=c("232","232","3454","3454","3455","342","13","13","13","13")

An R clause to bind dataframes under certain contions
Hi netters, Suppose I have two data frames X and Y. X has three colnames A, B and C. Y has three colnames A,B and D. I want to combine them into one matrix, joining the rows having the same A and B values (X$A==Y$A and X$B = Y$B). So the resulting dataframe has four variables/columns: A,B,C and D. I was wondering what's the best way to do it in R. Could anyone give me some advice? Thanks!

merging and working with BIG data sets. Is sqldf the best way??
Hi everyone, I’m working with some very big datasets (each dataset has 11 million rows and 2 columns). My first step is to merge all my individual data sets together (I have about 20) I’m using the following command from sqldf data1 <- sqldf("select A.*, B.* from A inner join B using(ID)") But it’s taking A VERY VERY LONG TIME to merge just 2 of the datasets

Merging data frames on two conditions
Hi Guys I have two data frames which I would like to merge on two conditions. I am doing the following (abstract form) new.data.frame <- merge(df1,df2, by=c("Col1","Col2")) It is giving me a null result. Basically I need to apply two conditions. I also tried sqldf but it is running forever. Will indexing help ? temp <- sqldf("select

sqldf merging with subset in specific range
Hi all: I have two data sets. Set A includes a long list of hits in a single column, say: m$V1 10 15 36 37 38 44 45 57 61 62 69 ...and so on Set B includes just a few key ranges set up by way of a minimum in column X and a maximum in column Y. Say, n$X n$Y 30 38 # range from 30 to 38 52 62 # range from 52 to 62 I would like the output to be the rows containing the following columns:

read a table ignoring specific rows ?
Dear R users, First of all sorry for this question, surely quite naive. (I searched on the R site but was unable to find by myself). I have a table, called infile : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I would like to read it and ignore the rows with 1st element > 3 I do it now with a for loop, and it's ok, but I was expecting something simpler, like : intable = read.table(infile); newtable =

Merge dataframes with no shared rows, some shared and som e unshared columns
> first <- data.frame(a=1:3, b=4:6) > second <- data.frame(b=7:9, c=10:12) > third <- merge(first, second, by="b", all=TRUE) > third b a c 1 4 1 NA 2 5 2 NA 3 6 3 NA 4 7 NA 10 5 8 NA 11 6 9 NA 12 It's easy to replace the Nas with whatever value you want. No, merge() does not work with more than two data sets at a time. Andy From: mtb954 at gmail.com

Conditional merging in R & if then statement
1)I am wandering how the following SQL statement can be written in R language w/o using sqldf: create table detail2 as select a.* from detail a, pdetail b where a.TDATE=b.TDATE and (a.STIM >= b.STIM and a.STIM <=b.MAXTIM) 2) when try if then in R it only applies to the 1st row & not to whole dataset like in SAS. How do you get round that? in SAS: data summary; set all1;

merging 3 data sets at once
Hi All, I am looking into merging 3 data sets I know how to do that by merging data1 with data2 and then merging the result with data 3. I was wondering if it can be done all at once so I tried, M<-merge(data1,data2,data3, by=?ID?) It does not work! Any ideas? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/merging-3-data-sets-at-once-tp17658873p17658873.html Sent from the R help

Vertical subtraction in dataframes
Hello all, I have not been able to find an answer to this problem. I feel like it might be so simple though that it might not get a response. I wish to create a column like calib where I am subtracting the 'Count' when 'stain' is 'none' from all other 'Count' data for
