CentOS-6 install on 1 Tb drive fails
I am attempting to load CentOS-6 onto a ST31000524AS 1Tb
SATA drive in a Supermicro 5015A-EHF-D525 system. The
BIOS sees the drive and the CentOS install process sees
and initializes it as well.
However, even when I accept the default partitioning, I
get an error during the drive formatting prior to
installing the OS. The error message is: "Could not
commit to disk /dev/sda". I get

Remote control IVR
Hi
I work at a small company that has some IVR solutions that use Dialogic
hardware for everything.
Everything is written in C++ using MS VC++ using the Dialogic API and runs
only on Windows.
Being the rebel that I am, I would like free myself from Dialogic.
To do this without porting all our existing code to run on Linux I was
thinking of controlling the Asterisk from a Windows machine running

[LLVMdev] Cross compile LLVM using gcc (powerpc and x86)
Hi there,
I hope this is the right list.
I have been trying to cross compile the LLVM 3.2 for our x86 target by using i586 cross compiler provided by Oselas toolchain (http://www.pengutronix.de/oselas/toolchain/index_de.html).
I have cross-compiled multitudes of 3rd party projects before and usually I can apply similar methods to compile the most of them.
I have however not been able to figure

Optimal platform for R
I'm looking to buy a new desktop which will primarily be used for
analyses of large datasets (100s of MB). I've seen postings from several
years back re the 'optimal' platform for running R, but nothing more
recently.
Specifically, I want to know: 1) if I run R under Windows, does having a
dual-processor machine help speed things up? And 2) is it still true
that R performs

[patch] libc Berkeley DB information leak
Hi,
FreeBSD libc Berkeley DB can leak sensitive information to database
files. The problem is that it writes uninitialized memory obtained from
malloc(3) to database files.
You can use this simple test program to reproduce the behavior:
http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jh3/dbtest.c
Run the program and see the resulting test.db file which will contain a
sequence of 0xa5 bytes directly from malloc(3).

ACL inheritance not working as expected.
Hello list!
For some reason ACL inheritance is not working on my FS. Anytime anyone
creates a folder/file under a share, the permissions are not inherited.
My system is a 2DC + a FS running samba 4.10.10. Everything self compiled
running on Debian Buster.
Several shares were created according to

[patch 0/2] Updates to compat VDSOs
Hi Andi,
Here's a couple of patches to fix up COMPAT_VDSO:
The first is a straightforward implementation of Jan's original idea
of relocating the VDSO to match its mapped location. Unlike Jan and
Zach's version, I changed it to relocate based on the phdrs rather than
the sections; the result is pleasantly compact.
The second patch takes advantage of the fact that all the

FW: FW: behaviour of sshd in debug mode
Whoever can help me...
pls find attached the loggings for the openssh sessions from
local(host=keg;redhat linux) to remote (host=ben;lynxos)
The issue is when I run sshd in debug mode and try to logon from local,
password authentication succeeds, but if I run sshd as a daemon, it fails.

fixed point AEC
Thanks Jean, I missed that detail.
I have a few more compile errors if you could help me with it =>
In function speex_echo_state_init in mdf.c I am getting error: "undefined reference to exp". I don't see a fixed point implementation of "exp". Can you point me to the correct files.
I am using the following files from speex 1.2 beta1 =>

fixed point AEC
Analog Devices sponsored a fixed point version for AEC which was posted early this year, but it seems from the source code that the fft routines are still in floating point. Is the port still not complete or am I missing something? Has anyone out there ported speex AEC on RISC architecture? Please let me know.
Thanks in advance,

gplot heatmaps: clustering according to rowsidecolors + key.xtickfun
Hi there,
I have two questions about heatmap.2 in gplot.
My input is a simple square matrix with numeric values between 75 and
100 (it is a similarity matrix based on bacterial DNA sequences).
1. I can sort my input matrix into categories with rowsidecolors (in
this case, very conveniently by bacterial taxa). I do a clustering and
reordering of my matrix by Rowv=TRUE (and
