the effect of blocking on the size of confidence intervals - analysis using aov
Hi, I am a method developer in drug discovery. I have developed a similarity searching method for small (drug-like) molecules. I want to compare the performance of my method to the performance of other methods. Similarity searching methods are commonly assessed by their ability to (re)discover a set of molecules that is avtive versus a given target, given one randomly selected query molecule.

error: no marshal_dump is defined for class Thread
I get this error periodically in backgroundrb.log, but only on my production box (the one running ruby 1.8.5) - my dev box doesn''t get this error. As far as I can tell, everything is working ok, despite the error (I don''t really know how to determine if the jobs are getting threaded successfully, but they are running, that I am sure of). Here''s the dump: no

Strange problems with WH_CALLWNDPROC hook
Hello! I created a program which injects a DLL into the game creation tool RPG Maker 2000/2003 (RPG Maker is written in Delphi 5/6) to add features. The DLL is injected by altering the code at the entry point. So there is some code run before the actual program starts. In this code, a WH_CALLWNDPROC hook is installed, and when RPG Maker opens its main window, some additional code will get

backgroundrb script crashing on startup
Everything works fine on my development box (Ubuntu 7.10, Ruby 1.8.6) but on my server (Fedora Core 6, Ruby 1.8.5) when I run script/backgroundrb start, the process fails to start. This is with Rails 2.0.2 frozen in the app, and I have the most recent version of the plugin (r297). Is Ruby 1.8.6 a requirement for backgroundrb now? I can''t figure any other reason it would fail...

RPG Maker 2000: games won't run
Hello! I've come across a problem with Wine (version 1.5.2) running RPG Maker 2000. The editor itself works fine, but I can't run any games; neither from the editor (test play mode) nor starting them directly by running wine game.exe. When I directly run a game, this happens: Code: ranmaru at kodama: ~ % wine RPG_RT.exe intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error When I run the

Arcanum ----------- I installed with wine; when I was prompted for the 2nd CD, I couldn't umount the first; so I cancelled the installation (as far as I remember the files were not erased; if they were I must have copied them somewhere before); then I copied the files

Windows DirectDraw?
I just tried to install an ancient detective-type RPG ( I am not up with the classifications.) (a) It offered to install DirectX. Since Wine has its own DirectX, I ignored that. (b) The game failed to run because (according to the message box) it couldn't find DirectDraw. This showed as a Fixme in the terminal, while the error message was to do with the display settings - there was no mode

Hello, I'm new to the WineHQ forums and I am trying to play a massively multiplayer rpg called Endless Online. I've talked with a couple people on their IRC chat who told me that a lot more people were beginning to use wine to play this game. The one that told me this was using a port of wine for Mac OS X and I don't know if the others that this person referred to are using Linux or

Ok, its time. AJAX Games via Rails....
A couple of years ago I was building an online multiplayer game doing the frontend in Flash MX 2004 and using Colin Moock''s Unity server (http://moock.org/unity/) for the backend. This was to be along the lines of JungleWar and the Hidden and Dangerous mini games for those whom remember these: http://moock.org/unity/showcase/screenshots/hiddenanddangerous.gif

Speex hardware requirements?
Also, you would be sattisfied with the narrowband decoding because the GBA sound quality isn't very good, however, that depends greatly on what you're going to do with speex on a GBA.... (an RPG with audio dialogs? ;-)) also, using a DSP in a GBA Cartridge sounds like overkill to me, however, that depends greatly on what are you developing and what's your target audience....

Static/shared linking woes
Greetings. A straight-out-of-the-cd Slackware 9. A straight-out-of-the-tar Samba 3.0.0. # cd source # ./configure --with-automount --with-smbmount (...configure ran...) # make (...make ran...) # du ... What?? The bin/ directory amounted to over 400 MB! smbd over 24 MB, when the 2.3.x one I have is 1.7 MB? I presumed it erroneously linked all the libraries as static. So I did: # ./configure
