using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Hello, as usual, I'm few years behind trends so I have learned about LVM thin volumes recently and I especially like that your volumes can be "sparse" - that you can have 1TB thin volume on 250GB VG/thin pool. Is it somehow possible to use that with libvirt? I have found this post from 2014: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libvirt-users/2014-August/msg00010.html which says

R: extracting elements in a matrix
Dear R-users For a given matrix of dimension, say (n,p), I'd like to extract for every column those elements that are bigger than twice the interquartile range of the corresponding column. Can I get these elements without using a loop? Thank you for your help Frank [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

time delay in group listing on win-machines
Showing the group of a folder/file in a mounted samba share under XP(SP2)/2003R2-Server need some seconds. Only the SID of the group and the owner is shown initaly This problem occurs not on a mounted share from a Windows-Server. 'getent group' on the Samba machine (via nss-ldap from 2003-AD) works perfect. I've no idea, where should I search. Can anybody please help? Thanks.

Save output
Dear R-Mastermind Within a while or a for-loop, is there a way that I can save to disk the results of the previous calculations at the end of each loop with filenames called "file01.Rdata", "file02.Rdata" etc? So far, I have tried to write the outcome of each loop in a 3 dimensional array and saved it just once after the loop. Or is there another way so that I can keep

orphaned snapshots
I?ve never had such situation and I don?t recall someone sharing something similar. Most probably it?s easier to remove the node from the TSP and re-add it.Of course , test the case in VMs just to validate that it?s possible to add a mode to a cluster with snapshots. I have a vague feeling that you will need to delete all snapshots. Best Regards,Strahil Nikolov? On Thursday, August 10, 2023, 4:36

Re: using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Please don't use lvm thin for vm. In our hosting in Russia we have 100-150 vps on each node with lvm thin pool on ssd and have locks, slowdowns and other bad things because of COW. After we switching to qcow2 files on plain ssd ext4 fs and happy =). 2017-11-04 23:21 GMT+03:00 Jan Hutaƙ <jhutar@redhat.com>: > Hello, > as usual, I'm few years behind trends so I have learned

ZFS with SSD ZIL vs XFS
Anyone made some performance comparison between XFS and ZFS with ZIL on SSD, in gluster environment ? I've tried to compare both on another SDS (LizardFS) and I haven't seen any tangible performance improvement. Is gluster different ?

winbind: idmap_rid - no user mapping
Hello, I've some trouble with winbind and the idmap_rid feature in an ADS environment. (Opteron with Debian 3.1pure64, official Samba/Winbind packet 3.0.14a) Without "idmap backend = idmap_rid:...." in the smb.conf a "getent passwd" works fine. Then I delete the /var/lib/samba/*.tdb-files, activate idmap_rid in smb.conf (see below) and join the ADS-Domain once more -

Re: using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Do you have some comparasion of IO performance on thin pool vs. qcow2 file on fs? In my case each VM would have its own thin volume. I just want to overcommit disk-space. New ADS infrastructure with winbind - Which is the best ID-mapping: IDMAP_RID or IDMAP LDAP with ADS + SFU schema ?
A question for the best winbind SID-UID/GID mapping in our situation: I'm building a new infrastructure with Windows 2003SP1 ADS Domaincontrollers and some Debian Servers (File: Samba+NFS; Mail; Web; ....) and varios XP and Debian Clients. After reading Chapter 12. (Identity Mapping) in the Samba-HOWTO is IDMAP_RID in couple with winbind an easy way to solve the problem with syncr.

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking

scale function within a for-loop?
I have a data matrix containing around 180 variables and more than 470 observations for each and no missing values. Within a for-loop, the first step of calculations is to standardize each column, such that the mean of each column is zero and the sd is one. The for-loop starts with a subset of the initial matrix and includes all columns but only a third of the rows. The loop "works itself
