Previously, I needed to downgrade Louis samba packages to Buster's defaults, which would then be upgraded to 4.13 by the dist-upgrade to Bullseye. This was on a Domain Member, so didn't touch my DC's or have to worry about DB format stepping (I hope). apt install samba=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 python-samba samba-common=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 samba-common-bin=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 libldb1 samba-libs=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 winbind=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 libwbclient0=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 python-tdb libtdb1=1.3.16-2+b1 samba-vfs-modules=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 libnss-winbind=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 libpam-winbind=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 smbclient=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 libsmbclient=2:4.9.5+dfsg-5+deb10u3 python3-tdb=1.3.16-2+b1 libtalloc2=2.1.14-2 libtevent0=0.9.37-1 tdb-tools=1.3.16-2+b1 I'm done with this now, but is there a better way to do this -- when the installed package (Louis Buster-4.15) is a newer version than the target OS upgrade's packages (Bullseye 4.13)? As I recall (& maybe I'm wrong), with the Van Belle packages you did not need to specify each package - "upgrade samba" did the trick. With the backports it seems you need to specify each of the packages. How do you know you got everything selected so that you don't end up with problems. I'd like to upgrade two DC's & two servers and don't want to mess them up (as I have a talent to do just that) On 2/15/2023 4:47 PM, Kris Lou via samba wrote:> Previously, I needed to downgrade Louis samba packages to Buster's > defaults, which would then be upgraded to 4.13 by the dist-upgrade to > Bullseye.
