Hi, my problem: i have a WinXP and a Win2000 computer and a samba 2.2.3a pcd. With XP and Win2000 I can login the samba server, with all users, without any problems. But today, I installed Windows 98(se). I tried to login the samba pdc. The answer was: "wrong password". I tried other users, nobody can login but one. It is "root". Only root can login with windows98. Why this? The smbpasswd (without some users, wrkst., and passwords): User1:500:*crypt password*:*crypt password*:[U ]:LCT-3BD75DC0: User2:501: *crypt password*:*crypt password*:[U ]:LCT-3BD70780: root:0: *crypt password*:*crypt password*:[U ]:LCT-3BD752AC: wkst1$:507: *crypt password*:*crypt password*:[W ]:LCT-3BFE9525: wkst2$:508: *crypt password*:*crypt password*:[W ]:LCT-3C6E1F0C: And here the smb.cof (without many shares) # Global parameters [global] workgroup = DOMAINNAME netbios name = SERVERNAME server string = Serverstring encrypt passwords = Yes update encrypted = Yes map to guest = Bad User passwd chat debug = No lanman auth = Yes log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log max log size = 0 socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 domain admin group = @smbadmin add user script = /usr/sbin/adduser -n -g machines -c Machine -d /dev/null -s /bin/false %m$ logon script = STARTUP.BAT logon path logon home domain logons = Yes os level = 65 dns proxy = No guest account = ftp printing = lprng share modes = No [netlogon] path = /usr/local/samba/netlogon browseable = No [printers] comment = All Printers path = /var/spool/samba printable = Yes browseable = No [Transfer] comment = Transfer path = /storage/public/Upload write list = +smbTransfer force group = smbTransfer read only = No create mask = 0664 directory mask = 01775 guest ok = Yes O really do not know what is here the problem. I have set " encrypt passwords = yes" and " update encrypted = Yes". So it is not a encrypt password problem I think. Hmm how can I enable the win98 pdc login? Marco
